い、彼女の頭と胴体は切断されてしまった。ところが----

I said. Her lips moved again. Then came the thin, ghostly sound: hoyyyy.

そもそも落語とは story telling だけれども stage play でもある、と桂枝雀はハワイ大学

での英語落語「White Lion(動物園)」のマクラで落語を次のように説明しています。

Rakugo is a traditional Japanese, say, story-telling. It’s a of course story-telling

but in some part I think it’s a kind of stage plays, say, you know, stage drama or

stage comedy. Many actors, actresses, but you’ll see only me in my Rakugo.

It looks like I have nothing but actually I have one thing, one important thing. It’s

your imagination. “What are you doing there? Hey, you”, when I say that, you must

imagine another person here. OK? OK. But be careful. Then I’m a character A and he

is a character B but now I’m character B and he is character A. Two persons quick

change, quick shift. OK? OK? … My Rakugo continues like this, so please enjoy my

英語落語は「日本語がまじってもいいのだ。いや逆にまじらなければならないのだ」と

思うようになったと言っています。たとえば Time Noodles(「時そば」)のテキストでは

とあるところを枝雀さんはこのように演じます。
