INTRODUCTION TOJAPAN WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY
Japan Women’s University began in 1901 as the first women’s higher educational institution in Japan.

Mejiro Campus Nishi-Ikuta Campus
Central Tokyo Half an hour by train from Shinjuku
Japan Women’s University (JWU ) has two campuses,
in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture.
→Very convenient for sightseeing & entertainment!

the Mejiro campus.
1. Quiet wooded campus (Department ④)2. Students at the Mejiro campus also take
courses at the Nishi-Ikuta campus.

CURRICULUM FOR EXCHANGE STUDENTS
We offer 2 intermediate courses for exchange students.
① The beginning intermediate class※ is suitable for students who can read and write 200 kanji when they join the program. Their goal is the N3 level of the JLPT.
② The upper intermediate class※ covers up to the N2 level of the JLPT.
※ Based on their Japanese language placement score on arrival, students are assigned to the appropriate class.
1.Japanese Language Study
CREDITS FOR JAPANESE LANGUAGE COURSES
The Japanese language course has 7 morning classes per week.
After completion, exchange students receive 14 credits for each fall and spring semester.
Total class time for each semester is 9,450 minutes(157.5 hours).
The 5-credit winter intensive course is a 5-week course from early February to early March.
Total class time is 3,420 minutes(57.0 hours).

Tutors for Exchange Students
Tutors meet with exchange students regularly and assist them with their life at JWU. Support includes: Pick-up service on arrival in Japan Assistance with class registration procedures Introduction to JWU facilities and services Language exchange

Because of the renovation of the university dormitory, we offer other options of the accommodation in fall semester 2019. University dormitory reopens in Spring semester 2020.
A part of the accommodation fee will be supported by Japan Women’s University during fall semester 2019.
