Lectura, as de Hoy Eclesiastico 35:15-17, 20-22 Salmo 33:2-3, 17-18, 19 y 23
2 Timoteo 4:6-8, 16-18 Lucas 18:9-14
The first and gospel readings today speak
of God’s impartiality. We are all loved
and accepted equally. But it is difficult to
see equality in our world. It is even hard
to see it in our church. It is easy for us to
see ourselves as the saved and others in
need of us. But when we do so we turn
into the Pharisee of the parable. God
sees no difference between these two
men. Both are sinners; both are the fo-
cus of God’s mercy and forgiveness. So it
is with us.
We are all, Christian and non-Christian
alike, in the same position. We are all of
us sinners; and we are all of us saved
through the cross of Christ. As Chris-
tians we are aware of that truth: we cel-
ebrate it and allow it to transform our
lives. But we are still sinners. And non-
Christians are just as beloved by God as
we are. Our mission is to share the good
news of that love we have experienced
and have recognized as Jesus Christ.
estos dos hombres. Ambos son pecadores;
