ACADEMIC PROJECTS:
Project Name : Simulation of Performance of HV AC Transmission Line
Location : MachilipatnamDuration : 2 months
Team Size : 4
Environment : MATLAB
Description : Now a day’s most of the power, from the generatingstations to substations and other equipment is being
transferred through long transmission lines at high
voltages. A suitable model of a transmission lineconsists of resistances, inductances, capacitances
and leakage conductances. All the above quantitiesare considered to be distributed whatever may be
the length. When power is transferred through the
transmission lines various losses occur. So, theselosses are to be calculated to know the performance
of a transmission line. Moreover the voltage profileon these transmission lines should be maintained in
a desired manner. This needs compensation of thelines. For the calculation of the various parameters
and compensation required for a particular
transmission line involves tedious work and thecalculations are cumbersome, error prone and time
consuming. Efforts are being made to obtain the

performance of HV lines in an interactive way. Oursoftware program specially designed named
“lineperf” using built-in-functions of MATLAB displaysthe desired result of the user upon exact choice and
necessary data for digital simulation of hv ac line
performance.
