November 3, 2019 Dear St. Joseph Parishioners — November is the month in which we remember the dead. During this time, we continue to pray for those who have gone before us in faith that they be embraced by God. At St. Saint Joseph Parish you will have the opportunity to remember your loved ones by signing their names in our Book of the Names of the Dead which will be placed in front of the tabernacle through the entire month of November. Please bring a memento or photo of your loved one and place it in the narthex on the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) Parish Altar. All Saints Day Masses were held Friday, November 1 and All Souls Day Mass was held Saturday, November 2. We Remember: Veterans Day, Monday, November 11—the noon Mass will be celebrated to honor the men and women who are serving and who served our country in the military forces. Throughout the month of November, we remember friends and family members who have gone before us. One of those special people in my life is my grandmother, (whom I affectionately called “mama quica”). I love the season of fall because nature and the liturgical events in the church remind me of her. My grandmother prayed day and night for a priest in the family. Little did she know she was praying for me. When I got ordained I was able to celebrate my first mass in Mexico and she was present at that mass. She died in 2005. I pray that you have a good season of remembering those who have gone before us. May they rest in peace. Durante este tiempo, seguimos orando por aquellos que han ido ante nosotros con fe para que sean abrazados por Dios. En la Parroquia de San José tendrán la oportunidad de recordar a sus seres queridos firmando sus nombres en nuestro Libro de los Nombres de los Muertos, que se colocará frente al tabernáculo durante todo el mes de noviembre. Por favor traiga un recuerdo o foto de su ser querido y colóquelo en el altar parroquial del Día de los Muertos. Todas las misas del Día de los Santos se celebraron el viernes 1 de noviembre y la Misa del Día de Todas las Almas se celebró el sábado 2 de noviembre. A lo largo del mes de noviembre, recordamos a amigos y familiares que han ido antes que nosotros. Una de esas personas especiales en mi vida es mi abuela, (a quien afectuosamente llamé "mamá quica"). Me encanta la época del otoño porque la naturaleza y los acontecimientos litúrgicos en la iglesia me recuerdan a ella. Mi abuela oraba día y noche por un sacerdote de la familia. Poco sabía que estaba rezando por mí. Cuando me ordenaron pude celebrar mi primera misa en México y ella estuvo presente en esa misa. Murió en 2005. Live the Liturgy—Inspiration for the Week

Imagine God coming to you at this very moment

saying, “Today I must stay at your house!”

How do you react when you hear those words?

God must stay at your house. There is no time to

clean or organize things or make any prepara-

tions. There is no time to backtrack and catch up

on things that may have slipped by during the

week. God is coming and doesn’t care how things

look! God just wants to spend time with you.

God’s mercy is very wide. It is so wide that we

sometimes have a difficulty accepting just how

unconditional and free it really is. We may find

ourselves thinking that there must be some folks

who don’t deserve it or aren’t worthy. All are

worthy. The book of Wisdom tells us, “But you

have mercy on all and you overlook people’s

sins that they may repent.” There is no way

around it: God must offer mercy. We are lost

and we desperately need it.

Imagínate a Dios viniendo a ti en este mismo

momento diciendo: “¡Hoy tengo que quedarme

en tu casa!” ¿Cómo reaccionas cuando escuchas

esas palabras? Dios debe quedarse en tu casa.

No hay tiempo para limpiar u organizar cosas

o hacer preparativos. No hay tiempo para dar

marcha atrás y ponerse al día con las cosas que

se te pueden haber pasado durante la semana.

¡Dios viene y no le importa cómo lucen las co-

sas! Dios solo quiere pasar tiempo contigo. La

misericordia de Dios es muy amplia. Es tan

amplio que a veces nos cuesta aceptar lo incon-

dicional y libre que es en realidad. Es posible

que nos encontremos pensando que debe haber

algunas personas que no la merecen o que no

son dignas. Todos son dignos. El libro de la

Sabiduría nos dice: "pero, porque lo puedes

todo, tienes piedad de todos y parece como que

no hicieras caso de los pecados de los hombres

para que así se arrepientan. " No hay forma de

evitarlo: Dios debe ofrecer misericordia. Estamos

perdidos y lo necesitamos desesperadamente.

October — Month of the Rosary — during the month of October parishioners prayed the rosary every day at 5:30 PM at the daily chapel. I want to thank all the people who took part of this great devotion and all those who prayed the rosary at home for the intentions of the Holy Father Pope Francis, the intentions of the Diocese of Yakima and our Parish. It has been a very humble experience to see you pray the rosary every day.

Octubre — Mes del Rosario — durante el mes de octubre los feligreses rezaban el rosario todos los días a las 5:30 PM en la capilla diaria. de parroquianos se juntan en el estacionamiento de la parroquia y empiezan una peregrinación con la virgen Maria en la ciudad. Llevan la imagen de la virgen a una casa
