These students’ framed poems will be displayed in our school lobby as part of the Literary Artist Gallery. The generous support of our PTO, parents and Mr. Dave Petty at the Frame Center in Hanover has provided us with the wonderful opportunity to continue this great program over the years. Filled with visits to museums, monuments and memorials, it was another great trip to DC this year (despite the heat!) A special thanks to all volunteer chaperones—without your dedication, the trip would not be possible!

News from Norwell Public Libary We encourage students entering 7th grade and above to register for Teen Summer Reading. For this, we ask that they read the novel A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park. This book is based on the true story of Salva Dut, a “lost boy” of Sudan during the 1980s. (Learn more about Salva’s story at www.waterforsudan.org) After reading the book, students may be inspired to action or a creative response, such as a work of art, essay or commentary. Any sort of response may be submitted to the library to be displayed in The Teen Spot and entered into a raffle contest to win a t-shirt with a Heifer International logo. (Heifer International is our partner for the children’s summer program. Learn all about this organization at www.heifer.com). Click here to read the full letter from NPL.

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!

Just a Few Reminders...

Notes from the Faculty

On the Gold Team all students participated in an end of the year social studies group project. The students researched an adventure vacation in a country they had studied this year. All 7th graders finished the year in English by

reading The Contender and making their end of the year portfolios. At Canobie Lake Park, 7th graders enhanced

their study of motion and forces. The trip was a great success! A big thank you to the NMS PTO for paying for the buses for this exciting field trip. At the Great East festival the NMS chorus re-

ceived a gold and both the 6th and 7th/8th grade bands received silver. Congratulations to everyone who participated!
