-also known as Prose Edda-a treatise on versification

together with a collection ofScandinavian myths, legends,and poems compiled by Snorri

Sturluson, Icelandic historianand poet.

YGGDRASILYggdrasil was the tree of life. It

was an eternal green Ash tree;

its branches stretched out overall of the nine worlds, andextended up and above the

heavens. Yggdrasil was carriedby three enormous roots.

In the first level was Asgard,the home of the Aesir.

somewhere under the ground wereHelheim home of the dead was. Muspelheim was to the south, it

was the home of the fire Giantsand Demons.

Helheim is a cold, dark and mistyabode of the dead.

up in the sky was Asgard. It wasthe home of the gods andgoddesses in Norse Mythology.

Odin was the ruler of Asgard,and the chief of the Aesir.

and goodness, but his name

also translates as "warrior." Dead, Killed by Loki, who

tricked his blind brotherHodr into killing him with aspear of mistletoe.
