Joseph Haydn Exhibition A Musical Universal Genius

한국국제교류재단 문화센터에서는 3월 16일부터 30

일까지 《세계적인 천재 음악가 - 요제프 하이든》전이

개최됩니다. 하이든 서거 200주기를 맞이하여 주한

오스트리아대사관이 주최하는 이번 전시는 하이든의

작품과 일생을 담은 42개 전시물을 통해 그의 천재적

인 음악세계와 삶을 조명합니다.

전시 개막식은 3월 16일 오후 5시이며, 한국하이든협

회의 4중주 연주가 마련됩니다.

전시 관람시간은 월요일~토요일 오전 10시에서 오후

6시까지이며(수요일은 저녁 9시까지, 일요일 및 공휴

일은 휴관) 입장료는 무료입니다. 더 자세한 사항은

The Joseph Haydn exhibition titled A Musical Universal Genius will be held from March 16 through March 30 at the KF Cultural Center. To mark the 200th anniversary of the death of Joseph Haydn, the Austrian Embassy in Seoul will be showcasing 42 display objects to outline the Austrian composer’s life and work.The opening ceremony on March 16 at 5:00 p.m. will include a short performance by musicians of the Korean Haydn Society and the wine that will be served is from Burgenland, Austria’s easternmost province and the home region of Haydn. The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, except on Wednesdays, when it will remain open until 9 p.m. Admission is free. 요제프 하이든 (1732-1809)은 오스트리아의

작곡가로 모차르트, 베토벤과 함께 ‘빈고전악파’를 형성

한 인물. 교향곡의 아버지로 불리는 하이든은 107곡의 교

향곡, 69곡의 현악사중주, 128곡의 바리톤트리오, 14곡

의 미사곡 등으로 고전시대 기악곡의 전형을 만들었으며,

특히 제1악장에서 소나타 형식을 완성했다. 그의 긍정적

인 성향과 삶의 열정은 그의 대표작 《천지창조(天地創造)

Schopfung》(1798), 《사계(四季) Die Jahreszeiten》(1801)

등에서 엿볼 수 있다.

이 전시는 3월 12일까지 계속됩니다.

전시 | Exhibition

(1732-1809) is an Austrian composer who formed the Viennese School along with Mozart and Beethoven. Called the “Father of the Symphony,” Haydn composed many musical works, including 107 symphonies, 69 string quartets, 128 baritone trios and 14 masses, creating a norm of instrumental music in the classical times. He especially perfected the sonata form in the first movement. His positive temperament and passion for life are revealed in his representative works such as 《Die Schöpfung (The Creation)》(1798) and 《Die Jahreszeiten (The Seasons)》(1801).

Exhibition will continue until March 12.

Encountering Southeast Asia at the KF Cultural Center

3월, 4월 KF 문화센터에서는 동남아시아에 대한 강연, 영화,

도서자료 등을 한자리에서 감상하실 수 있습니다. 세미나

실에서는 2009년 첫번째 정기강좌 시리즈 “동남아시아 이

야기”에서 ▲동남아 정치와 역사(3.3(화) 신윤환), ▲불교 문

화와 태국(3.10(화) 김홍구), ▲이슬람문화와 인도네시아

(3.17(화) 김형준), ▲인도문명과 미얀마(3.24(화) 박장식),

▲말레이시아의 다문화주의(3.31(화) 오명석) 등 다채로운

내용을 다룹니다. 영상실에서는 동남아 전문가가 엄선한

미얀마, 베트남, 인도네시아, 캄보디아, 태국 영화가 매주

월, 수요일 저녁 7시, 토요일 오후 3시에 상영됩니다. (자세

한 일정은 영화면 참조) 또한, 정보자료실에서는 약 70여

종의 동남아시아 관련 서적을 열람할 수 있으며 무료로 이

용 가능합니다. KF 문화센터에서 동남아시아 향기에 흠뻑

빠져보세요!

Visitors can enjoy lectures, exhibitions, films and reference materials on Southeast Asia all in one place at the KF Cultural Center during March and April. Lectures on Southeast Asia, the first of the Center’s regular lecture series in 2009 which began on February 17 at the Seminar Room, address various topics on every Tuesday, including ▲Politics and History of Southeast Asia (March 3, Shin, Yoon-Hwan), ▲Buddhist Culture and Thailand (March 10, Kim, Hong-Koo), ▲Islamic Culture and Indonesia (March 17, Kim, Hyung-Jun), ▲Indian Civilization and Myanmar (March 24, Park, Jang -Sik), and ▲Multiculturalism of Malaysia (March 31, Oh, Myung-Seok). Also featured at the Screening Room at 7 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and 3 p.m. on Saturdays are movies selected by experts on Southeast Asia on the themes of Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar and Cambodia. 세계 클래식 음악계를 빛내고 있는 거장과 젊은 연주자

의 만남, 고전에서 현대까지 음악 애호가들을 설레게 할

프로그램으로 가득한 서울국제음악제가 5월 22일 화려한

막을 올립니다.

8일간 LG 아트센터, 금호아트홀, 세종문화회관, 예술의전

당 등 서울 시내 주요 공연장에서 매일 펼쳐질 서울국제음

악제는 ‘음악을 통한 화합(All Together in Music)’ 이라는

주제로 스승과 제자의 교우, 아시아와 유럽의 교감 등 음

악을 통한 평화와 화합을 느낄 수 있는 감동적인 음악 축

제가 될 것입니다.

이 시대 최고의 마에스트로 크리지스토프 펜데레츠키(K.

Penderecki)가 서울국제음악제의 명예 예술감독으로 위

촉되었으며, 펜데레츠키를 사사하고 세계적으로 그 실력

과 재능을 인정받고 있는 류재준 작곡가가 예술감독을 맡

았습니다.

이 외에도 음악제 기간 동안, 한국국제교류재단 문화센터

갤러리에서는 《서울국제음악제 특별 전시》가 개최됩니다.

Showcasing the music of world-renowned maestros and talented young artists accomplished in classical music, and programs from classical to contemporary that will thrill music lovers, the first Seoul International Music Festival (SIMF) opens on May 22.The festival will be held over a period of eight days at major concert halls in Seoul, including the LG Arts Center, Kumho Art Hall, Sejong Center and Seoul Arts Center. Under the theme of “All Together in Music,” SIMF will be a stirring music festival highlighting the friendly relationships between music teachers and their students and the sharing of feelings between Asian musicians, spreading peace and harmony through music.Krzysztof Penderecki, one of the greatest maestros of modern times, is Honorary Art Director of SIMF, and Ryu Jea Joon, a Korean composer who studied under Penderecki and who has been recognized for his outstanding musical skills, is Art Director.In conjunction with the music festival, the “SIMF Special Exhibition” will be held at the Korea Foundation Cultural Center during the festival period from May 22 through May 30.

[Myanmar] Beyond Rangoon

Laura Bowman, a young doctor, goes traveling to escape the mental shock she received when her husband and young son were brutally murdered by a burglar. As part of a group touring Asia, she and her sister Andy check in at a hotel in Rangoon. Unable to sleep, Laura goes out of the hotel when she hears a strange noise outside. She witnesses that Aung San Suu Kyi, admired as a goddess of freedom by the people of Burma (Myanmar), wears a graceful smile and goes through armed soldiers who restrain her from contacting demonstrators.

The film is based on a real story of King Mongkut of the Kingdom of Siam (Thailand) and English tutor Anna Leonowens.

Meanwhile, Hay, a cyclo driver, helps a beautiful prostitute, Lan, when she runs away from a chasing customer, and falls in love with her. Hovering around her, Hay voluntarily becomes her driver. Lan reluctantly lets him do as he wants, but he is just a poor cyclo driver to her. The film features three kinds of encounter, love and hope. A tapestry of love and hope.

While featuring Joni’s desperate struggle to deliver the film in time, the movie also shows all kinds of the audience in theater, grouping them into ten types.

The Korean Language Class has published Our Korean (Uri Hangugeo)written by Korean Language Class teachers for classroom use. Our Korean is composed of 10 volumes by level to create a more systematic environment for learning Korean. The teachers in charge of each class participated in writing and editing the textbooks to maintain overall consistency in teaching by level. The Korean Language Classes are attended by a monthly average of about 200 foreigners. The publishing of Our Korean adds expertise to the Korean Language Class, providing a stable curriculum to Korean language learners.

한국어교실 교사들이 직접 제작한 수업 교재 『우리 한국어』가 발

간되었습니다. 이번에 발간된 한국어교실 교재 『우리 한국어』는

좀 더 체계적인 학습 환경을 조성하고자 수준별로 1권에서 10권

까지 구성되어 있습니다. 각 반별로 수업을 맡고 있는 교사들이

교재 작성부터 편집까지 맡아 단계별로 구성되어 있는 수업에

전체적인 일관성을 갖고 지도할 수 있도록 준비했습니다. 한달

평균 약 200여 명의 외국인들이 한국어를 배우고 있는 한국어교

실은 수업 교재 발간을 통해 안정된 커리큘럼 속에서 학습할 수

있도록 수업 프로그램에 전문성을 더하게 되었습니다.

활동 후기 한국어교실 팀원 윤은아 KFVN Activities Yun Eun-a, Korean Language Class Team Member

I am Yun, Eun-a, a member of the Korean Language Class Team for Wednesday classes. It is almost three years since I started to participate in the Korea Foundation Volunteer Network (KFVN) activities. I attended the orientation session for volunteers in January 2007. It seems just like yesterday, but a lot of time has actually passed by since then. Fortunately I was able to start to work as a team member as soon as I completed the orientation at that time. I was the youngest member at the Korean Language Class Team and formed wonderful relationships with other

team members and teachers. Probably that is why I work so actively to introduce the KFVN to my acquaintances and recommend that they participate in KFVN activities. One of the best things about my volunteer activities, above all, is that I can meet so many diverse people, transcending nationalities. Mingling and speaking with them, I became more thoughtful and found it easier to understand and accept cultural and linguistic differences. I realized that the KFVN was a committed and well-organized group of volunteers, and I came to take pride in the KFVN, not only while working as a team member for the Korea Language Class but also by preparing for Hangeul Day , volunteers’ meetings and year-end gathering events. As time went by, my activities as a Korean Language Class Team member became a part of my life even before I realized it. For all these reasons, I really hope to continue to work as a volunteer for a long time in the future.

안녕하세요? 한국어교실 수요일 팀원 윤은아입니다. 어느덧 봉

사활동을 시작한지도 3년째가 되어 갑니다. 2007년 1월에 소양

교육을 받았던 때가 엊그제 같은데 벌써 많은 시간이 흘렀네요.

저는 당시에 운 좋게도 소양교육 이후 바로 팀원 활동을 시작

할 수 있었습니다. 당시 저는 제일 막내로 한국어교실에 들어가

다른 팀원과 선생님들의 사랑을 듬뿍 받았습니다. 그래서인지

지인들에게 국제교류자원봉사망을 알리고 활동을 권유 할 정도

로 많은 애정을 갖고 활동을 하고 있습니다.

제가 활동을 하면서 가장 좋다고

생각하는 점은 무엇보다 국적을 뛰

어넘어 다양한 사람들과 만날 수

있다는 것입니다. 서로 어울리면서

이야기하다 보니 생각도 깊어지고,

다름을 이해하고 받아들이는 것도

쉬워졌습니다. 그리고 한국어교실

수업뿐만 아니라 한글날, 자원봉사

자대회, 송년의 밤 등의 행사 준비

를 하면서 봉사망이 자원봉사자들

로 탄탄하게 잘 구성된 단체라는

생각이 들었고 자부심을 갖게 되었

습니다. 시간이 지나면서 저도 모

르게 한국어교실 팀원 활동이 제

삶의 일부가 되어버렸습니다. 앞으

로도 오랫동안 활동을 하고 싶습

니다.

“I went to Taiwan recently and somehow it felt kind of strange. Maybe it’s because I feel more comfortable in Korea.” Mr. Tseng, Chung-Da who has been living in Korea for six years says he now finds Korea very comfortable and familiar. He at first came to know the Korea Foundation Volunteer Network when his friend attending the advanced KFVN Korean Language Class introduced the network to him. Mr. Tseng says his Korean has greatly improved thanks to the Korean Language Class he has attended for three years since 2006, and he has come to love Korea through his experience of Korean culture. Of various events offered by the Korean Culture Class, what he found most memorable was the class on Samulnori in March last year. “I saw a musical instrument called janggu [hour-glass shaped traditional Korean drum] for the first time

on that day. I played the janggu to the tune of Arirang. Different parts of the janggu produced different sounds, which I found fascinating.” He also drank the traditional Korean drink, Dongdongju , along with other people after the Samulnori class, and it tasted good and similar to Taiwan’s traditional alcohol, Niumi(牛米).Mr. Tseng, who came to Korea in 2004, says he is happy to have been given the opportunity to get to know Korean people and culture better through the KFVN. He says, “The KFVN is really good for foreigners. Through the KFVN, you can meet Korean friends, learn the Korean language and experience Korean culture in a very natural way. When I go back to Taiwan, I also want to introduce Taiwanese culture to other people.” He adds he is grateful to be with the KFVN, and he knows that his love for Korea and the KFVN will continue for a long time.

“얼마 전에 대만에 갔었는데 낯설더라고요. 한국이 더 편한

가 봐요.” 6년째 한국에 살고 있는 증중달씨는 이제 한국이

참 편하고 익숙하다고 합니다. 증중달씨는 한국어교실 고

급반 친구의 소개로 국제교류자원봉사망을 알게 되었습니

다. 그래서 2006년부터 3년째 지속적으로 참여하고 있는

그는 한국어교실 수업으로 한국말도 많이 늘었고, 한국문

화행사 체험으로 한국을 사랑하게 됐다고 말합니다. 특히

한국문화교실 행사 중 지난해 3월에 진행됐던 사물놀이가

가장 기억에 남는다고 합니다. “그 날 장구라는 악기를 처

음 봤어요. 아리랑 노래에 맞춰 ‘덩덩덕 쿵덕’ 장구 리듬을

연주했는데, 북 위치에 따라 소리가 다르게 나서 매력적이

라고 생각했습니다.” 또한 사물놀이 후

에 사람들과 함께 동동주를 마셨는데,

대만의 전통주 ‘牛米’와 맛이 비슷해서

맛있었다고 합니다.

2004년에 한국에 온 증중달씨는 국제

교류자원봉사망을 통해 한국인과 한국

문화에 대해 알게 되어서 기쁘다고 말

합니다. 그는 “KFVN은 외국인에게 정

말 좋은 곳이에요. 한국 친구도 만나고,

한국어도 배우고, 한국문화도 자연스레

경험할 수 있는 곳이잖아요. 나중에 대

만에 가면 저 또한 대만 문화를 외국인

에게 전파하고 싶어요.”라고 말합니다.

“봉사망과 함께할 수 있어 감사하다”는

말을 꼭 전하고 싶다는 증중달씨의 한

국사랑, 봉사망 사랑이 계속되길 기대

해봅니다.
