     Technical Data Sheet for

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION : NIPPON HYCOTE 665  is a two component solvent free high performancecoating specially designed as an abrasion and chemical resistant heavy duty floorcoating. With the introduction onto the surface of selected graded aggregateNIPPON HYCOTE 665  can provided excellent slip deterrent properties forfloors where spillage of aqueous solution or oils may occur. Being solvent free, the coating during application and curing provides a low odour environmentand therefore is ideal for use in the Food and Drink industries where solventfumes could present a tainting problem.

    PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PAINT

COLOUR : Manufactured only in Light Grey, 18E50 and White colour.

    TEXTURE : High Gloss

SPECIFIC GRAVITY : 1.36 (for mixture of Base and Hardener)

    SOLID CONTENT : 100% by volume (ASTM D2697 1973)

    FLASH POINT : Not Applicable

    RECOMMENDED NO. OF

    COATS

    : 1 – 2 coats

    RECOMMENDED FILM PER

    COAT

    : 150 ~ 200 microns for dry film150 ~ 200 microns for wet film

    THEORETICAL COVERAGE

    AT RECOMMENDED FILMTHICKNESS

    : 6.7 m2 /litre ( for dry film thickness of 150 microns)

    5.0 m2

/litre (for dry film thickness of 200 microns)

     Theoretical Coverage(m2 /litre)

    =Volume Solids (%) X 10

    Dry Film Thickness (µ)

    PRACTICAL COVERAGE

    20% LOSS FACTOR

    : 5.3 m2 /litre (for dry film thickness of  150 microns)4.0 m2 /litre (for dry film thickness of 200 microns)

Note: This theoretical coverage rate has been calculated from the volume solids of the material and is related to the amount ofcoating applied onto a perfectly smooth surface without wastage. For a practical coverage rate, due allowance should be made foratmospheric conditions, surface roughness, geometry of the article being coated, the skill of applicator, method of application etc.when estimating quantities required for a particular job.

    GENERAL PROPERTIES

ADHESION : Excellent on correctly prepared surfaces.

ABRASION : Excellent resistance to abrasion and mechanical damage.

    SURFACE FINISH : High Gloss

SLIP DETERRENT FINISH : Excellent slip deterrent properties when combined with graded aggregate.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE : Recommended for use against a wide range of chemical spillage and splashesi.e. resistant to oils, fats, solvents, acids and alkalis, diesel, petroleum etc.

MIXING RATIO : 2 parts by volume of Base to 1 part by volume of Hardener. Stir the content of theBase component, continue stirring and gradually add the total contents of theHardener component, continue stirring until a homogeneous mix is obtained.

    POT LIFE AT 23°C° ~ 30°C : 45 minutes after mixing

    SHELF LIFE AT 25°C ~ 30°C : 1 year

    THINNER / THINNING : N/A

Note: All equipment should be cleaned IMMEDIATELY with thinner after use. For thinning, substitute thinners other than thoseapproved or supplied by Nippon Paint may adversely affect the product performance and void product warranty whether expressor implied.

SURFACE PREPARATION : Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from oil, grease and contaminants. Thesurface should be primed with an approved Nippon primer.

    DRYING TIME AT 25°C ~

    30°C

    : Dry to Touch : 6 - 8 hoursHard Dry : 16 hoursDry to overcoat : Maximum 72 hours

    CURING TIME AT 25°C ~

    30°C

    : 7 Days

Note: Drying time will become remarkably delay under low temperature. Overcoating the previous coat should be done within6 ~ 7 days but preferably as soon as possible after it has been allowed 16 hours drying or else, it is desirable to roughen it by drysanding with sandpaper before it is overcoated. This is to ensure proper intercoat adhesion. Exposure of the paint film to water, chemical and abrasion should be avoided as far as possible before full cure of the coating. When chalking occurs, chalks should beremoved by water washing. Allow the surface to dry thoroughly prior to overcoating.

APPLICATION METHODS : Brush, roller, compressed air spray and plural feed hot airless spray. Preferablyuse plural feed hot airless spray if a thicker coat is required in one application.Brush, roller, compressed air spray generally lead to lower film thickness, somore applications may be required to obtain the recommended thickness percoat.

    1. Slip deterrent flooring

    system

: Apply Nippon Hycote 665 by any of the above methods onto the preparedfloor. Whilst the coating is wet introduce by scattering grade 30 or 40 aggregateinto the surface approximately 0.025 kilos of aggregate per sq. metre will berequired to produced a medium dispersion. After overnight curing remove anyloose aggregate. If required a final seal coat of Nippon Hycote 665 may beapplied. Clean all equipment immediately after use with SA-65 thinner.

    2. Brush/Roller : Recommended for small areas and touch-up only. Good quality brushes andmohair/short nap rollers should be used with full strokes. Avoid rebrushing.Additional coats may be required to achieve minimum specified film thickness.

STANDARD PACKING : 5 litres (3.33 litres Base, 1.67 litres Hardener)

    ENVIRONMENTALCONDITIONS DURING

    APPLICATION

: 1. Do not apply when the relative humidity exceeds 85% or when the surfaceto be coated is less than 3°C above the dew point.

    2. Do not apply at temperature below 7°C. If not, drying and overcoatingtimes will be considerably extended.

    3. During application of the paint, naked flame, welding operations andsmoking should not be allowed and adequate ventilation should beprovided.

    SAFETY, HEALTH AND

    ENVIRONMENTAL

    INFORMATION

: 1. In the wet state, this product is highly inflammable. In case of fire, blanketflames with foam, carbon dioxide or dry chemicals.

    2. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking3. Keep container tightly closed and keep out of reach from children.4. Do not breathe vapour/spray. Applying paint to large surface areas under

closed environment should use air supplied breathing equipment. Forsmall areas or short periods, a suitable cartridge mask should be worn.Inhalation: Remove to fresh air, loosen collar and keep patient rested.Ingestion: In case of accidental ingestion. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Seekimmediate medical attention.

    5. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective coating such asoveralls, goggles, dust masks and gloves. Use a barrier cream.Eyes: In the event of accidental splashes, flush eyes with water immediatelyand obtain medical advice.Skin: Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water or approved industrialcleaner. DO NOT USE solvent or thinners.

    6. Care must be taken when transporting paint. Keep container in a secure

upright position.7. Do not empty into drains or watercourses. Dispose of any paint waste in

accordance with the appropriate Environmental Quality Regulations.
