u), bought out former chldrens hos-
ptl. They renovted t nto n elderly
resdence whch could house 140 peo-
ple. The offcl openng of the res-
dence too plce on My 26, 1957.
Soon, when ths resdence could not
meet the demnd, the Ssters expnded
t n 1970 by 124 more plces, nd n
1978 bult new resdence for n dd-
tonl 160 beds. Then they dsmntled
the former chldrens hosptl whch hd
been constructed n 1911.
On the 25th nnversry of the center,n 1982, there ws n offcl openng
nd blessng of the Jublee Pr next to
the Holy Fmly Center. in 1992, new
complex of elderly housng nd guest
resdence were dded nd servces pro-
vded were upgrded. in 2007, the cen-
ter celebrted ts 50th nnversry.
Todys resdence s comfortble,
well-equpped buldng whch cn serve
276 people. The center offers ndvdul
physcl, mentl, sprtul nd socl
servces. in order to mprove the qulty
of lfe for elders, mny socl nd enter-
tnment events re held. Urnn cul-
ture s the bss nd nchor of the center,
lthough ts resdents nclude people of
vrous ethnc nd relgous ffltons.

The Mid-West session of En-counter 2012 opened with
enthusiasm September 20-21
with the Clergy sessions. There were
over eighty bishops, priests, deacons
monasticsand some clergy wives for
the four sessions tailored to fit the spe-
cific roles and relationship that must
exist between the ordained and non-
ordained People of God who make up
the Church, the Body of Christ.
The speakers found ways to focus
the presentation of their specific topic
upon the ways of collaboration be-
tween all the Body Parts of the
Church to facilitate a healthy, function-
ing Presence of the living Kingdom ofGod that empowers all its members to
be all that a Christian is called to be.
For another two days of presenta-
tions, the speakers tweaked some
points of emphasis to help the more
than two hundred attendees re-alize the important place and
mission each has in the Church
the Church of many differ-
ent yet complementary ex-
pressions all working as a
harmonious whole to pres-
ent the face of Jesus to the
world which lives around us by
the way we livebolstered by the
way we pray.
To this end, each day had prayers in
several of the Catholic Traditions that
make our unity unique. Some of the
material presented has been recorded
and will be available on line.
