The First International Forum on Risk Management and Remediation of
Polluted Soil and Groundwater (RMRPSG), will be held in Nanjing from
May 16th to 18th, 2017. The theme of this year’s Forum is returning
Brownfields to productive use and is cooperatively hosted by the National
Engineering Research Center for Organic Pollution Control and Resource
Reuse, and the DuPont Company (USA), and is sponsored by the Jiangsu
Academy of Environmental Industry and Technology Corporation. We have
invited leading scientists, engineers, and other professionals from domestic
and international distinguished colleges, large-scale remediation industry
enterprises, and major chemical-engineering industry companies to come
together and to share relevant experiences in the areas of risk evaluation, risk
management, and application of remediation technology to polluted soil and
groundwater. At the same time, we would like to introduce the concept of an
international technology-exchange platform in these areas of expertise to
promote continued and more extensive international exchange through
posters, presentations and discussions. We would like to establish the
“International Industry Alliance for Risk Management and Remediation of
Polluted Soil and Groundwater” which would meet on a bi-annual basis. The
ultimate goal is to provide technical support in realizing technically sound
remediation and safe reuse of land, soil and groundwater resources.

汤姆·艾 先生,环境修复部(全球)主管。负责杜邦公司的全球环境修复责

染对气候变化的反应。他领导的项目有:污染物环境过程与全球变化(中国教育
部);大气CO2/O3浓度升高对土壤中PAHs环境归趋的影响(国家自然科学基金面
上项目);基于关键带科学的城郊土壤-水系统中物质传输机制与归趋(国家自然科
学基金委员会与英国自然环境研究理事会重大国际合作研究计划项目课题)。
叶淑君 博士,南京大学地球科学与工程学院教授。本科毕业于吉林大学水文
地质工程地质系,硕士和博士毕业于南京大学地球科学系水文学及水资源专业。她
的研究主要涉及2个方向,一是地下水数值模拟,包括数值方法的研究和过量开采地
下水引起的地面沉降模拟研究;另一个是地下水有机污染修复,包括场地调查、风
险评估、室内试验和数值模拟,重点关注生物修复、化学修复、电动修复方法,以
及修复过程对多孔介质和裂隙介质中地下水流、多相流和溶质运移的影响。

王水 研究员, 现任江苏省环境科学研究院土壤环境研究所所长,研究员级高工。
长期从事污染场地土壤与地下水修复、环境风险评估、环境管理政策和环境工程设计工作,
积极参与江苏省土壤环境管理的顶层设计和管理支撑工作。作为技术负责人参与了国家环
保部的污染场地环境监管试点项目、省级公益院所能力提升项目《江苏省土壤污染控制研
究》、《江苏省土壤污染防治工作方案》编制等工作,主持制定了《污染场地修复治理工
程环境监理技术规范》等标准性文件。
吕华坚 先生,高级环境工程师,2005年起供职于高达集团国家(香港)工程顾问
有限公司。他有超过18年的环境咨询经验。他从事和/或管理过的商业和工业土地的一期
场地环境评估和二期场地环境评估项目超过60个。除此之外,吕华贤先生曾在众多零售
和生产场地担任土壤和地下水修复项目经理和工程师(包括超过60个石油零售与干洗设
施)。其中,吕华坚先生的职责包括:土壤与地下水状况评估;分步碳水化物修复法;水
槽封闭与土壤挖掘;多种技术的中试;场地评估报告,自然性衰减监测评估,替代修复法
评估,修复行动计划,以及实施计划的筹备工作;修复系统安装与启动,以及运行和维护。
Mr. Tom Ei, Leader of the DuPont Corporate Remediation Group. He is responsible
for managing the global environmental remediation obligations of the DuPont company to
ensure protection of people and the environment and in compliance with national and
state/provincial laws and regulations. Mr. Ei leads a diverse team of scientists, engineers and
professionals to achieve the environmental remediation goals of DuPont. He has spent the
majority of his 25 year career with DuPont located in Wilmington, Delaware with site
remediation responsibilities throughout North and Latin America. He has served as a
technical leader, operations manager and regional manager of remediation projects across the
DuPont portfolio of complex manufacturing and waste disposal sites. He received his
Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences from the Pennsylvania State University and
previously served as a geologist for an environmental remediation consulting firm.
Ms. Nancy Grosso, a Principal Technical Consultant in the DuPont Corporate
Remediation Group (CRG). She is responsible for technical leadership of DuPont
remediation projects under USA Federal and State-led programs. She has developed
remediation strategies and overseen environmental characterization and remedy
implementation at numerous DuPont sites for more than 25 years, including development of
source-specific and site-wide conceptual models for effective remediation. Ms. Grosso leads
efforts to address several challenging technical areas in the CRG including DNAPL,
persistent groundwater contamination, contaminated sediments, and groundwater and surface
water interaction. She received a BS degree in Earth Sciences and an MS degree in
Geophysical Sciences from the University of Chicago.

Mr. Kendrick Jaglal,a Professional Engineer in New York State in the United
State of America (USA). He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental
Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Water Resources Engineering. Mr. Jaglal
has more than 26 years of experience remediating various media such as soil, groundwater,
sediment and automobile shredder residue. He has addressed a wide range of contaminants
including Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Semi-VOCs, polychlorinated biphenyls
(PCBs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and various metals. He has also worked
under the major USA federal environmental regulatory programs and those of many states
across the USA.
Dr. Yong Peng,Deputy General Manager of Baohang Environment Co. Ltd. He
worked for international renowned consulting firms incl. AECOM and ERM, and BCEG
Environmental Remediation Co. Ltd before moving to Baohang. Dr. Peng has over 15 years
of diverse experiences in contaminated site (Brownfield) management, sustainability,
environmental research, design and consulting practices. He has completed more than 100
projects in USA and China, ranging from industrial facility closure, EHS due diligence and
regulatory compliance, contaminated site investigation and remediation, landfill closure,
hazardous waste management, environmental permitting and impact assessment (EIA),
emergency response planning, to a variety of services related to UST/AST, Brownfields and
river restoration. His clients include major federal/national and state/provincial governments
and agencies (USA and China) and multinational companies operating in the private sector.
Dr. Ralph G. Stahl,Jr., he received his B.S. in Marine Biology from Texas
A&M University (cum laude), his M.S. in Biology from Texas A&M University, and his
Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Toxicology from the University of Texas, School of
Public Health. His MS work focused on the fate and effects of PCBs in biota of Galveston
Bay, Texas, and his Ph.D. on the environmental effects of coal-fired utilities in Texas. He
has participated in a number of oceanographic investigations in the Gulf of Mexico, North
Pacific Ocean, and the North Atlantic. Ralph has been a member of the Corporate
Remediation Group since 1993 where he provides technical and strategic direction on the
investigation, remediation and restoration of contaminated sites in the US, Latin America,
Europe and Asia/ Pacific. Ralph’s research over the past 30 years has been supported by
funding from DuPont; he has received no external research grants nor has he obtained any
research contracts from government agencies, private companies, or foundations.
Ralph has served on the US National Academy of Science / National Research Council
Panel on the Use of Ecosystem Services for the Deepwater Horizon Spill in the Gulf of
Mexico, the US EPA’s Science Advisory Board (Advisory Council on Clean Air
Compliance Analysis, Ecological Effects Subcommittee), and the Department of Interior’s
FACA Panel on Natural Resource Damages. He is board certified in General Toxicology
and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. Ralph remains active in the
Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), Ecological Risk
Assessment Advisory Group and is on the Editorial Board of the journal Environmental
Toxicology and Chemistry.
RMRPSG Forum
Mr. David. Thomas, senior hydrogeologist with over 20 years of experience and
currently based in CH2M’s Lyon, France office. He has technical experience with regional
water supply and groundwater remediation projects. He has worked in Canada, the US, the
UK and France and manages global programmes and teams notably throughout Europe,
North and South America and Asia-Pacific regions.
Dr. Peng Liu,a research associate from Groundwater Geochemistry and
Remediation Research Group at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences,
University of Waterloo, Canada. His research focuses on contaminated site remediation,
including groundwater, river water, soil, and sediment. He uses various techniques,
including regular geochemical analysis and synchrotron-based methods, to delineate
pollutants removal mechanisms. He primarily worked on two projects in the past several
years. One is the stabilization of mercury in sediment, river water and flood plain soils
using biochar. Another one is the biodegradation of nitrobenzene and aniline in
groundwater using bio-PRB.
Dr. Hongyan Guo,Professor in School of the Environment, Nanjing University.
Prof. Guo is a scientist on climate change and physicochemical processes of pollutants in
Earth’s Critical Zone, in particular the behavior of pollutants in agro-ecosystems, the
impact of climate change on ecological risk of soil pollution and adaptation and mitigation
technologies to control soil pollution in response to climate change. He leads projects on:
Environmental Processes of Pollutants and Global climate change, Ministry of Education,
China; The Influence of Elevated Air CO2/O3 Concentration on the Environmental
Behavior and Ecological Effects of PAHs in Soil, NSF China; Transport and Fate of
Nutrients and Contaminants in Soil-Water Systems in Peri-Urban Critical Zone, NSFC-
RCUK_NERC.
Dr. Shujun Ye , Professor of Hydrogeology in School of Earth Sciences and
Engineering, Nanjing University. Dr. Ye received B.S. in Hydrogeology from Jilin
University, M.S. and Ph.D. in Hydrology and Water Resources from Nanjing University.
Her interests of research are primarily in two areas. One is numerical modeling of
groundwater flow, including studies on numerical methods which are used to solve
mathematical models of groundwater flow, and studies on land subsidence simulation
which is caused by overly groundwater exploitation. The other is remediation of organic
contaminants in groundwater, including field investigation, risk assessment, lab
experiments and numerical modeling. She focuses on bioremediation, chemical oxidation
and electrokinetic treatment, and the impact of these remediation on groundwater flow,
multiphase flow and mass transport in porous media and fractured media.
Researcher Shui Wang, a senior researcher-level engineer, is the Jiangsu
Provincial Environmental Science Academy chief of Soil Environment Institution. He has
long engaged in polluted soil site and groundwater remediation, environment risk
assessments, environmental management policies, and environmental engineering design.
Besides, he has also taken part in Jiangsu Provincial top-level design for and support of soil
environmental management. Serving as the technical director in editing numbers of
professional journals and articles, involving "Soil Pollution Control and Research in
Jiangsu Province", "Practical Scheme for Soil Pollution Prevention and Remediation", his
work has been taken significant attention by both the China Environmental Minister and the
Provincial Institution. At the same time, he has presided over a number of standard
documents such as "Technical Criterion regarding Environmental Investigation on Polluted
Sites Remediation and Management Projects".

Mr.Robert Lu, Associate and Senior Engineer in Golder Associates (HK)
Limited .Robert Lu has more than 18 years of environmental consulting experience and has
been with Golder since 2005. He has performed and/or managed over 60 Phase I and Phase
II ESAs for commercial and industrial properties. In addition, Robert has served as project
manager and/or engineer for soil and groundwater remediation at numerous retail and
manufacturing sites (including over 60 petroleum retail and over 10 dry-cleaning facilities).
His responsibilities have included soil and groundwater assessments; phase-separated
hydrocarbon recovery; tank closure and soil excavation; pilot testing with various
technologies; preparation of site assessment reports, pilot test plans and reports, natural
attenuation monitoring evaluation, remedial alternative evaluations, remedial action plans,
and construction plans; and performance of remedial system installation and startup, and
operation and maintenance activities.
