Liebe Schülerin, lieber Schüler!

Vor dir liegt nun das Aufgabenheft des schriftlichen Teils der Abschlussprüfung Englisch Mittlerer Schulabschluss.

Es gibt drei Teile darin, zu denen jeweils mehrere Aufgaben gestellt werden:

Teil LC: Listening Comprehension (Hörverstehen)

Teil RC: Reading Comprehension (Leseverstehen)

Teil W: Writing (Schreiben)

Du hast ausreichend Zeit! Die Prüfungszeit beträgt für alle Aufgaben zusammen 105 Minuten. Lies dir bitte jede Aufgabe gründlich durch und bearbeite sie so gut du kannst. Wenn du mit einer Aufgabe nicht zurechtkommst, gehe zur nächsten über.

Wenn du dich einmal bei der Lösung geirrt hast, markiere deine richtige Antwort so:

Besonders in Teil LC Listening ist es wichtig, dass du vor dem Anhören der CD-Texte in der schriftlichen Aufgabenstellung zunächst nachliest, was du beim anschließenden Hören herausfinden sollst!

Nutze die jeweiligen Pausen, um die Aufgabe zu lesen und zu vervollständigen.

Benutze einen Bleistift, um deine ersten Vermutungen zu kennzeichnen, bevor du nach dem zweiten Hören den Füller oder Kugelschreiber nimmst.

Für die Teile RC Reading und W Writing denke daran, dass du in deinem Wörterbuch nachschlagen kannst, wenn du Wortschatzprobleme hast.

In Teil W Writing nimm dir Zeit, die Schreibaufgabe erst zu planen, dann einen Text zu schreiben und diesen vor dem sauberen Abschreiben zu überprüfen. Nutze die Zeit und überprüfe in der Aufgabenstellung, ob du alle Aspekte bedacht hast. Kontrolliere hinterher noch einmal die sprachliche Richtigkeit.

Unexpected Charity

The news doesn’t always show the many positive things that are happening around us. But, if we look a bit closer we will find that charitable people and even businesses are giving back to communities in unexpected ways.

One business that is choosing to do good is an online photo printing company. This large company, based in California, has decided to respond to 994 families and over 1,600 individuals in need by giving away over five million dollars. Their gifts have allowed 336 first-generation college students to attend university, paid off $1.2 million in credit card debt for struggling individuals, and helped rebuild 1,400 homes after natural disasters.

Another business that has decided to do good is an international shoe company. When they started in 1988, their sales were fair. But, since they became really popular in the early 2000s they now sell more than 8 million pairs of shoes annually. They have chosen to take 16% of their profits from the shoes they sell to send free shoes to children who are living in poverty. Children who would not otherwise have access to basics are given the shoes to help protect them from infections and injuries to their feet. Thanks to this company, over 17,000 children have shoes on their feet and smiles on their faces.

It’s not just businesses that help others, but individuals too. 23-year-old artist, Chance the Rapper, surprised his hometown when he chose to present an unexpected gift. In a press conference in March 2017, he announced that he would be giving one million dollars to Chicago Public Schools. Three years before, in 2014, he had been named Chicago’s Outstanding Youth of the Year by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Along with his father he had started a Twitter campaign to stop gun violence for 42 hours. In 2016 Barack Obama invited him to the White House in Washington, D.C.

Chance the Rapper isn’t the first artist. Coming together to make music for a good cause was the idea of several pop music artists who gathered at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City in 1979 to sing a “Gift of Song” to the world’s children. Broadcasted in 60 countries and reaching over 200 million people, the single raised $4 million for UNICEF’s life-saving programs. Similar concerts took place in London, Sydney and Moscow in the 1980s and in Berlin in 1990.

Even if the media isn’t showing it, take time to look for and find the many generous acts of kindness in the world.

RC 2 Eating out

Read the recommendations (1-7) from a flyer about restaurants. Match each of them with one of the descriptions (A-I). There is an example (0) at the beginning. You may use every letter only once. There is one more description than you need.

Are you looking for somewhere special to go this weekend? Do you want to try something new? Check out one of these hot new restaurants and cafés.

Have you noticed how music improves the taste of your food?

This new restaurant has different types of live music every night except Sundays, and excellent food to go with it. Great fish dishes, steak and pizza. Monday is classic rock night, so see you there.

1. Last Days of the Raj

A centrally located Indian restaurant, perfect for eating before or after the cinema or show. In summer enjoy your meal in the beautiful garden. The most popular dishes are lamb and chicken cooked with mild, medium or hot spices. For brave customers, there is extra hot!

2. A Taste of Tuscany

Whether you'd like an affordable lunch or a relaxed evening meal in stylish surroundings, this is the place for you. The chefs have all been trained in Italy and they make both traditional and contemporary dishes. We recommend the pasta and seafood.

3. Your Local Caff

Remember when cafés served a full English breakfast – sausages, beans, fried bread, bacon and eggs – with a strong cup of tea? Well, this place still does and you can have breakfast at any time you like during the day while you listen to your favourite tunes from the 1980s.

4. The Lemon Tree

This pretty restaurant serves you healthy food that’s tasty too. Come in for a vegetarian snack at lunch time or a great fruit smoothie or a cappuccino and a delicious piece of cake in the afternoon. Food is bought from local producers whenever possible.

5. Cheesy Bites

A restaurant that serves mostly cheese, but hundreds of cheeses from many countries and in lots of different forms. They serve reasonably priced lunches but dinner can be expensive. Lovely food and a very elegant dining room, overlooking an amazing flower garden.

6. Fast Best

Fast food doesn’t have to be junk food, as this café proves. Do you fancy a really good hamburger made with the best ingredients, or an old-fashioned fish and chips cooked to perfection, all on the table in super quick time? Speed and quality are important here, and the prices aren’t bad either.

7. The Chocolate Box

The owner of this small café used to cook all kinds of food, but then she realised she preferred desserts more than anything. If you want meat or fish, don’t come here. They only do desserts! Lots of different kinds of sweets. Chocolate lovers will be excited by the range of chocolate cakes.
