1.2. Polarografi
1.2.1. Polarografi DC (arus searah)
Plarografi DC adalah metode orisinil
yang diperkenalkan oleh Heyrovaky pada
tahun 1992, yang membentuk dasar polarografi
sebagai suatu metode analitik elektrokimia
klasik.
Tegangan DC yang meningkat secara
linear dengan waktu dipakai sebelah sel
pengukur. Arus yang dihasilkan, i, pada
elektroda kerja, direkam. Grafik arua/tegangan
atau polarogram ini dapat mengandung satu
atau lebih tingkatan (lihat gambar 1.3). Istilah
potensial setengah gelombang, E ½, adalah
potensial yang sesuai dengan setengah tinggi
tingkatan dan merupakan besaran karakteristik
untuk masing-masing zat, sehingga
memungkinkan hasil-hasil analisis dievaluasi
secara kuantitatif. Tinggi tingkatan, h (dari arus
dasar io terhadap batas arus difusi (limiting
diffusion current, id) ditentukan oleh
konsentrasi pendepolarisasi (depolarizer), yang
membentuk dasar bagi evaluasi hasil secara
kuantitatif. Larutan yang mengandung berbagai
pendepolarisasi dimana potensial setengah
tingkatanya satu sama lain cukup berbeda
( yaitu sekitar 80 sampai100 mV untuk
penentuan kualitatif dan sekitar 100-120 mV
untuk penentuan kuantitatif), akan memberikan
suatu polarogram yang mengandung beberapa
1.2. Polarography
1.2.1. Polarography DC (direct current)
Plarografi DC is the original method
introduced by Heyrovaky in 1992, which
formed the basis of polarography as a classical
electrochemical analytical method.
DC voltage which increases linearly
with time worn next to the measuring cell. The
resulting current, i, at the working electrode,
was recorded. Graph arua / voltage or
polarogram may contain one or more levels
(see figure 1.3). The term half-wave potential,
E ½, is the potential corresponding to half the
amount of high level and is characteristic for
each substance, thus allowing the analysis
results are evaluated quantitatively. High
levels, h (io base flows to the current limit of
diffusion (diffusion limiting current, id) is
determined by the concentration
pendepolarisasi (depolarizer), which form the
basis for a quantitative evaluation of the
results. Solution containing various potential
pendepolarisasi where half tingkatanya each
other quite different (ie about 80 mV for the
qualitative determination sampai100 and about
100-120 mV for the quantitative
determination), will give a polarogram
containing
tingkatan yang dapat dievaluasi dengan mudah
untuk masing-masing komponen.
1.2.2. Polarografi AC (arus bolak-balik)
Tekanan AC yang kecil dan
berfrekuensi rendah disuperimposisikan
(ditindihtepatkan) pada ramp tegangan DC.
Hal ini membawa ke puncak arus dalam daerah
tingkatan polarografi DC, nilai arus baik
sebelum dan setelah tingkatan menjadi lebih
rendah (lihat Gambar 1.4; yang diukur hanya
komponen AC). Ini berarti kebalikan dari
tingkatan-tingkatan pada polarografi DC,
puncak-puncak yang diperoleh lebih mudah
untuk dievaluasi dan tinggi puncak bergantung
pada konsentrasi analit.
Polarografi AC memiliki kepekaan
dengan adanya zat-zat yang bersifat aktif-
permukaan. Dalam daerah adsorpsi/desorpsi,
kapasi-tans lapisan rangkap, cd, berubah-ubah
dengan sangat cepat, sehingga mengakibatkan
perbedaan yang tiba-tiba (lonjakan) pada kurva
arus dasar.
Dibanding polarografi DC, polarografi
AC memberikan pemisahan yang lebih baik
terhadap tingkatan yang berdekatan; Gambar
1.5 menunjukan perbandingan antara
polarografi DC klasik (polarogram dengan
tetesan-bebas dan pengukuran arus yang tidak
terpadu/terintegrasi) dan metode polarografi
fasa-selektif modern (polarogram dari harmoni
several levels that can be easily evaluated for
each component.
1.2.2. Polarography AC (alternating current)
Air pressure is small and low-
frequency superimposed (ditindihtepatkan) on
the DC voltage ramp. This leads to the peak
current in DC polarography regional levels,
values both before and after the current lower
levels (see Figure 1.4; measured only AC
component). It means the opposite of levels in
DC polarography, the peaks obtained are easier
to evaluate and peak height depends the
concentration of the analyte.
AC polarography has a sensitivity to
the presence of substances that are surface-
active. In the area of adsorption / desorption,
kapasi-tans double layer, cd, changing very
rapidly, resulting in a sudden difference
(spikes) on the basis of the current curve.
Compared to DC polarography, AC
polarography provide better separation of the
adjacent levels; Figure 1.5 shows a comparison
between the classical DC polarography
(polarogram with drip-free and current
measurements are not unified / integrated) and
phase-selective methods of modern
polarography (polarogram of harmony with a

dan integrasi arus tetes yang disinkronisasikan.
1.2.3. Polarografi denyut
Dalam semua metode polarografi,
denyut tegangan persegi (rectangular single
pulse) tunggal pada durasi yang singkat
digunakan pada sel pengukur untuk tetesan
merkuri. Berbagai jens polarografi denyut
dapat dibedakan sesuai dengan fungsi tegangan
dan metode penentuan arusnya, dua yang
terpenting adalah polarografi denyut diferensial
(kadang-kadang diesbut polarografi derivatif)
dan polarografi denyut normal.
1.1. Polarografi denyut diferensial
( Differential pulse polarography)
Untuk masing-masing tingkat
tegangan, denyut persegi tunggal
disuperimposisikan pada ramp tegangan DC;
dengan instrumen Polarecord E 506, amplitudo
denyut ini dapat disesuaikan pada rentang -100
.. 0 .. + 100 mV. Denyut amplitudo terpasang
dijaga konstan selama analisis berlangsung.
Karen bentuk bertingkat pada ramp tegangan
DC, tegangan DC dibawah denyut cendrung
konstan selama waktu hidup tetesan. Aliran
arus melalui elektroda kerja diintegrasikan
melewai dua kali periode 20 milidtik, secara
cepat sebelum mencapai sisi denyut dan pada
akhir selama waktu hidup tetesan yang sama.
time of unity and integration controlled
droplets drops are synchronized flow.
1.2.3. Pulse polarography
In all methods of polarography, square
voltage pulse (single rectangular pulse) on a
single short duration used in the measuring cell
for mercury droplets. Various jens pulse
polarography can be distinguished according to
the method of determining the function of
voltage and currents, the two most important
are differential pulse polarography (sometimes
diesbut derivative polarography) and normal
pulse polarography.
1.1. Differential pulse polarography
(Differential pulse polarography)
For each voltage level, a single square
pulse superimposed on the DC voltage ramp;
the instrument Polarecord E 506, the pulse
amplitude can be adjusted in the range -100 .. 0
.. + 100 mV. The pulse amplitude is
maintained constant during the analysis
attached in progress. Karen on ramp shape
multilevel DC voltage, DC voltage tends to
under rate constant over the lifetime of the
droplets. The flow of current through the
working electrode is integrated twice melewai
20 milidtik period, quickly before reaching the
pulse and at the end of life droplets during the
same time.
Perbedaan antar dua arus terintegrasi, yang
sama sekali tidak dipengaruhi oleh gangguan
seperti arus bermuatan, ic atau komponen-
komponen AC lainnya (amplitudo positif dan
negatif menghilangkan satu sama lain pada
penyajian akhir dengan penggunaan tknik
penentuan arus), direkam pada grafik yak
merupakan fungsi dari tegangan ( sebenarnya
sebgai fungsi waktu). Laju transfer dari
integator ke perekam dapat diubah-ubah
melalui pemilihan tepatan waktu yang berbeda.
Dengan kepekaan arus yang tinggi, maka hal
ini sangat menjadi suatu keuntungan.
Beberapa petunjuk penting jika
bekerja dengan polarografi senyut diferensial
dipaparkan berikut ini:
Polarografi denyut diferensial adalah
metode yang bermanfaat terutama untuk
penyelidikan dan penentuan zat-zat yang
bersifat ”tak-refersibel”, yakni zat-zat yang
pada reaksi dipolarisasi secara keseluruhan
bersifat sangat lembam ( contohnya
kebanyakan senyawa-senyawa organik)
Waktu tetes yang panjang ( t tetes sekitar 1 ..
2 detik) pada umumnya memberikan garis
besar yang lebih lurus dibanding waktu tetes
yang singkat.
Dengan kepekaan arus tinggi, polarogram
harus direkam dengan waktu tetes yang
lebih singkat ( t tetes sekitar 1 detik), karena
hal ini akan mengurangi efek gangguan.
The difference between the two integrated
currents, which are not severely affected by
disturbances such as a charged current, ic or
other air conditioning components (positive
and negative amplitude to eliminate each other
at the end of the presentation with the use of
flow determination tknik), recorded on a chart
yak is a function of voltage (actually sebgai
function of time). The rate of transfer of
integator to the recorder can be changed by
selecting a different time inaccuracy. With the
current high sensitivity, then it is be an
advantage.
Some important clues when working
with differential polarography senyut described
below:
differential pulse polarography method is
useful especially for the investigation and
determination of substances that are "non-
refersibel", ie substances that the overall
reaction is highly polarized inert (for
example, most organic compounds)
The time is long drops (t drops about 1 .. 2
seconds) generally outlines a more straight
than a short time drops.
With a high current sensitivity, polarogram
must be recorded with a shorter drop time (t
drops about 1 second), as this will reduce
the effects of interference.
Jika mungkin, polarogram harus direkam
dengan damping atau dengan jumlah
damping yang paling rendah, karena untuk
alsana-alasan yang menjadi sifat
sirkuit/rangkaian elektronik, damping
cendrung sedikit menganggu pada resolusi
puncak-puncak yang berdekatan dan
mengurangi tinggi puncak. Pengaruh
terkakhir ini harus dimasukkan kedalam
perhitungan ketika menganalisis suatu
rangkaian konsentrasi: untuk memperoleh
perbandingan yang valid, semua polarogram
harus direkam dengan latar belakang atau
setting damper yang sama.
Amplitudo denyut rendah ( 50 mV) dapat
memperbaiki resolusi puncak-puncak yang
berdekatan, tetapi cendrung mengurangi
kepekaan, pengaruh sebaiknya terjadi jika
digunakan amplitudo yang lebih besar
( mV)
Masalah gangguan pada garis dasar hampir
selalu berasal dari proses-proses
elektrokimia yang berlangsung pada
elektroda ( asumsikan bahwa masukan
merkuri dan penetapan kapiler secara
mekanik ada pada tempatnya), saran:
cobalah gunakan zat aktif-permukaan
Dengan konsentrasi medium
pendepolarisasi ( sampai sekitar 10 -5 M),
elektrolit dasar pada umumnya dapat lebih
encer dibanding pada metode polaogram
If possible, should be recorded polarogram
with damping or with the least amount of
damping, due to Alsana-reason inherent
circuit / electronic circuits, damping tends
to slightly disturb the resolution of adjacent
peaks and reduces the peak height.
Terkakhir influence should be included in
the calculation when analyzing a series of
concentration: to obtain a valid comparison,
all polarogram must be recorded with the
background or the same damper setting.
Low pulse amplitude (50 mV) to fix the
resolution of adjacent peaks, but it tends to
reduce the sensitivity, the effect should
occur if used larger amplitude (mV)
Problems disorder at baseline almost
always comes from the electrochemical
processes that take place on the electrode
(assuming that the input of mercury and
capillary mechanically fixing in place),
suggestion: try using surface-active
substances
With pendepolarisasi medium
concentrations (up to about 10 -5 M), basic
electrolytes are generally more dilute than
the method polaogram
lainnya (yakni sampai sekitar 10-3 M). Pada
konsentrasi pendepolarisasi yang lebih
rendah 9 ( 10-5 M), kepekaan arus
menjadi lebih tinggi dan gangguan-
gangguan mungkin muncul sehubungan
dengan kapasitans diferensial ( = elektrolit
blanko, yaitu elektrolit tanpa
pendepolarisasi). Untuk alasan ini,
polarogram elektrolit dasar harus selalu
direkam dengan adanya zat pendepolarisasi,
selanjutnya evaluasi kualitatif dilakukan
dengan metode standar adisi.
1.2. Polarografi denyut normal
Dimulai dari tegangan dasar denyut
yang konstan dan bersifat dpat diatur
(adjustable), masin-masing denyut tegangan
dihasilkan yang amplitudonya ditentukan oleh
peningkatan ramp tegangan DC secara linear.
Selama waktu hisup masing-masing tetesan
hanya satu denyut tegangan yang dipakai.
Sehubungan bahwa dalam interval antara
denyut-denyut tegangan polarografi kembali ke
tegangan dasar denyut ( yang mungkin lebih
rendah [lebih anodik] atau lebih tinggi [lebih
katodik] dibanding potensial setengah
tingkatan [half-step potential, E1/2), tidak ada
pengurangan terhadap larutan disekitar tetesan,
karena selama interval ini tidak terjadi reaksi
baik reduksi maupun oksidasi. Bersama-sama
dengan pengukuran arus ini dlam fase akhir
other (ie, up to about 10-3 M). At
concentrations lower pendepolarisasi 9 (10-
5 M), the sensitivity becomes higher
currents and disturbances may arise in
connection with the differential capacitance
(= electrolyte blank, ie without
pendepolarisasi electrolyte). For this
reason, polarogram basic electrolytes
should always be recorded in the presence
of pendepolarisasi, further qualitative
evaluation carried out by standard addition
method.
1.2. Normal pulse polarography
Starting from the basic pulse voltage is
constant and dpat set (adjustable), brackish
each voltage pulse amplitude is generated
which is determined by an increase in a linear
ramp voltage DC. During each time hisup
droplets only one voltage pulse used. In
connection that in the interval between voltage
pulses polarography back to base voltage pulse
(which may be lower [more anodic] or higher
[more cathodic] potential than half the level of
[half-step potential, E1 / 2), there is no
reduction in the solution around the droplet,
because during this interval does not happen
either reduction or oxidation reaction. Together
with the current measurement dlam final phase
waktu hidup tetesan (dalam kasus pada
polarecord E 506 selama 20 milidetik terakhir
pada masing-masing hisup tetesan, tidak
bergantung pada komponen arus kapasitatif
yang tidak diinginkan), hal ini menghasilakn
kepekaan yang lebih besar dan resolusi yang
lebih tinggi dibanding dengan polarografi DC.
1.3. Voltametri penguapan anodik
Voltametri penguapan anodik, (anodic
stripping voltametry, ASV) adalah cara yang
digunakan secara luas dala m analisis
pengupasan. Dalam hal ini, logam dipekatkan
terlebih dahulu dengan elektrodeposisi
kedalam elektrida merkuri bervolume kecil
( sebuah film tipis merkuri atau tetes merkuri
gantung). Pemekatan dilakukan melaui
deposisi katodik pada waktu dan potensial
yang erkendali. Potensial deposisi biasanya
antara 0, 3-0, 5 V lebih negatif dibandingkan
E0, dengan maksud untuk mempermudah
proses reduksi ion logam yang akan itentukan.
Ion-ion logam mencapai elektroda merkuri
melalui difusi dan konveksi, dimana ion-ion
tersebut tereduksi dan dipekatkan sangat

droplet life time (in the case of the E 506
polarecord last for 20 milliseconds each hisup
droplets, does not depend on the current
component kapasitatif unwanted), it is yielding
a greater sensitivity and higher resolution than
DC polarography.
1.3. Voltammetry anodic evaporation
Voltammetry anodic evaporation,
(anodic stripping voltametry, ASV) is a widely
used method dala m stripping analysis. In this
case, the metal is concentrated in advance by
electrodeposition into mercury elektrida small
volume (a thin film of mercury or mercury
drops hanging). Concentration is done through
the cathodic deposition time and potential
erkendali. Deposition potential is usually
between 0, 3-0, 5 V more negative than E0,
with a view to facilitate the process of
reduction of the metal ions to be itentukan.
Metal ions reach the electrodes through the
mercury diffusion and convection, where the
ions are reduced and concentrated very

playback convective electrode or stirring the

atau melalui pengadukan larutan (jika
menggunakan elektroda tetes merkuri
gantung). Larutan yang tidak bergerak dapat
digunakan jika digunakan ultramikroelektroda
merkuri. Lamanya tahap diposisi ini dipilih
sesuai dengan tingkat konsentrasi ion logam
yang ditentukan, mulai yangkurang dari 0, 5
menit pada tingkat konsentrasi 10-7 M sampai
sekitar 20 menit pada tingkat 10-10 M.
Konsentrasi logam didalam amalgam, cHg,
dinyatakan oleh hukum faraday:

Dimana i, adalah batas arus untuk defosisi
logam, td adalah panjang priode deposisi, dan
vHg adalah volume elektoda merkuri. Arus
deposisi dihubungkan dengan fluks Ion logam

kecil ( yang masih dapat terulangkan,
deproducible) dari logam ada didalam larutan.

Selama scan anodik ini ini, logam-logam yang
dibentuk amalgam (amalgamated metals)
direoksidasi, dikupas (strifpped out) dasi

dalam voltmetri pengupasan anodik bersama-
sama dengan hasil voltmogram pengupasan
ditunjukkan pada gambar 1.7. Puncak
voltametrik menggambarkan ketergntungan
konsentrasi logam terhadap waktu dalam
elektroda merkuri selama scn potensial.
Puncsk ini berguna untuk mengidentifikasi
logsm-logam dalam contoh. Puncak arus
bergantung pada berbagai parameter tahap
deposisi dan penguapan, sebagaimana pula
karakteristik ion-ion logam dan geometri
elektroda.
Jenis interferensi utama dalam prosedur
voltametri pengupasan anodik (ASN) adalah
tumpang-tindih (overlapping) puncak yang
disebabkan oleh hampir samanya harga
potensial oksidasi (yakni kelompok fb, Ti, Cd
Sn atau kelompik Bi, Cu, Sb), adanya

and the re-establishment of an analyte layer.
During the anodic scan, the metals are formed

concentrations versus time for scn in mercury
electrode potential. Puncsk is useful to identify
logsm-metal in the sample. The peak current
depends on various parameters of deposition
and evaporation stages, as well as the
characteristics of the metal ions and the
electrode geometry.
The main types of interference in anodic
stripping voltammetry procedure (ASN) is the
overlap (overlapping) peaks
due to the oxidation potential price nearly with
him (ie, fb group, Ti, Sn or Cd kelompik Bi,
Cu, Sb), the presence of organic compounds
senyawa-senyawa organik yang bersifat aktif-
permukaan yang dapat teradsorpsi pada
elektroda merkuri serta menghambat deposisi
logam dan pembentukan senyawa-senyawa
antarlogam ( seperti Cu-Zn) yang
mempengaruhi ukuran dan letak puncak.
Pengetahuan tentang interferensi ini dapat
membuka jalan terhadap cara pencegahannya,
dengan memberi perhatian yang cermat pada
beberapa tahap kunci operasionalnya (seperti
pemilihan potensial deposisi atau elektrolit).
Perbaikan karakteristik sinyal terhadap latar
belakang ( signal-to- background), dapat
dicapai dengan pemkaian teknik elektroda
kerja rangkap, misalnya dengan menggunakan
ASV dengan collection atau subtractive ASV
( tetapi dibutuhkan instrumentasi yang lebih
kompleks).
Versi lain dari analisis pengupasan meliputi
pengupasan potensiometri (potentiometri c
stripping), pengupasan adsorptif (adsorptive
stripping) dan pola pengupasan katodik, telah
dikembangkan untuk memperluas jangkauan
dan daya analisisnya.
that are active-surface that can adsorbed on the
mercury electrode and the metal deposition and
inhibit the formation of compounds antarlogam
(such as Cu-Zn), which affects the size and
location of the peak. Knowledge of this
interference can pave the way toward its
prevention, by giving careful attention to
several key stages of operations (such as
deposition potential election or electrolyte).
Repair characteristics of the signal to
background ratio (signal-to-background), can
be achieved with dual working electrode
pemkaian techniques, for example by using the
collection or subtractive ASV ASV (but more
complex instrumentation needed).
Another version of the analysis includes
stripping potentiometric stripping (stripping
potentiometri c), adsorptive stripping
(adsorptive stripping) and cathodic stripping
patterns, has been developed to extend the
reach and power analysis.
