2About
Architecture has been a passion of mine since I was young. My architectural educa-tion has developed my understanding and appreciation of design and architecture throughout the world. The ability to design something and see it built in the world excites me. My goal is to be a licensed architect and design the world around us.

6This urban block was designed to be mixed use and integrate on site parking, retail, and modular residential units. The primary tar-get for the project was student housing. The project was designed with six individual tow-ers in order to provide variety to the owner. Each residential tower is capable of convert-ing between a hotel, student housing, and apartments with a community space on second fl oor.

8The design for Prairie Pines Nature Center was to encourage visitors to go outdoors and wander through the site. The design created views from the nature center to the surrounding area to view a natural prai-rie and a wetlands. Visual paths were sculpted through the forest, which provided a view from the great hall directly to these places throughout the site.

This pavilion is de-signed to create a focal point for the sculpture garden at the Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. The pavilion provides access on multiple levels and provides shade, seating, and a place for events. The multiple levels would provide a variety of spaces for visitors to sit and enjoy the sculp-ture garden as well as provide multiple op-portunities for circula-tion throughout.

As Chinas urban cities continue to grow rap-idly there is becoming an increased need for housing in the city. This project proposed developing schools, housing, and com-mercial into an urban block in Shouguang China. The project provided 1,000 afford-able housing units with the opportunity for all daily needs to be met on site. The site was designed to be Net-Zero for water and electricity.

The Urban Park was a continuation of the housing project in Shouguang China. The park was designed to be a linking piece be-tween the affordable housing, market rate housing, and schools. The park provides rec-reation space, small commercial, a living machine for water fi l-tration, a lake, and a small mountain. The park design focused around several exist-ing relics on site includ-ing a large grain silo and concrete arches.

The live-work center is an urban infi ll and multi-use project in the city of London. The building provided a public social space on the lower fl oors , small/start up business space on the middle fl oors and a residential space on the upper fl oors. The project was divided into public and private space for each function which was separated by a central core which also served as the atri-um into the building.

This project began by taking an in-depth look at the typology of Mat (waffl e) offi ce buildings. The study looked at what made them successful, what qualities they could provide, and their potential uses as an offi ce building. The proposed prototype is a corporate offi ce park. It is intended to be a single headquar-ters for a business, but could be subdivided into multiple offi ces with various leasing depths and square footage.

The experience be-gan by learning about the culture in Quito. Once on the Gala-pagos Islands our group worked with a small community to develop plans for a local park. The park was master planned and specifi c elements were designed using materials and build-ing capabilities on the island. All presen-tations and meetings involved the commu-nity and were given in Spanish.

The London Study Abroad was a se-mester long experi-ence which allowed one to be immersed in the culture. The program included a large amount of travel which provided the opportunity to experi-ence many different cultures and visit many historical and famous architectural sites. Studio classes were taught throughout the city and included cri-tiques and feedback from architectural fi rms in London.

The China Sustain-able Urbanism study abroad was part of a studio experience which continued once back in the U.S. Visiting China provid-ed the opportunity to experience the cul-ture, building styles, transportation, life style, and food. The experience allowed us to understand how and why China oper-ates in a different way than the United States.

One of my interests throughout my archi-tecture degree has been building scale models. Models give a project a sense of being built and rep-resent a project in a way that drawings on paper can not always achieve.
The Lincoln Racquet Club was looking to expand their facilities and needed a model to show patrons their plans for the expan-sion.
Models
-
This model was built as a studio project and was a proposed expansion for campus housing while pro-viding a connection to ex-isting buildings.
This model was built for Ar-chitect Peter Hind in order to provide a visual propos-al for a new home East of Lincoln.

A boat rental compa-ny at Lake Okoboji, IA was looking to invest in a new rental boat for their customers. In-stead of buying new, one of the existing boats was re-built. The boat was designed with the clients in mind providing maximum capacity for rentals, easy cleaning abilities, and a modular design which provides easy opportunity to repair or replace parts when damaged. The reno-vation fi nished within budget and required time frame.
Proposed Exterior & Interior
Design/Build
-
Existing Boat before renovation. The in-terior and exterior had been heavily damaged.
The existing console was re-purposed for the new boat. Each piece was painted and new switches and dials were in-stalled to accom-modate new tech-nology
The existing struc-ture was upgraded in order to accom-modate a heavier motor . The stern was also extended to create a swim deck.
The interior allows for 16 persons to be seated comfort-ably and provides a multi-channel speaker system and lighting package
The new fl ooring was marine grade plywood with vinyl decking which al-lows it to withstand the marine envi-ronment and be cleaned easily.
The exterior graph-ics were designed and printed on the inside of poly carbonate panels which provides long term durability and UV resistance.

While traveling on study abroad trips my passion for photog-raphy has continued to grow. My goal is to capture the urban environments and na-ture at night. The early evening allows one to capture the city in a transition from day light to artifi cial light-ing at night. Each city provides a different atmosphere whether it is street lighting, lit buildings, or an active water front.
