1/ General conditions

Mdecins du Monde (MDM) is a French INGO working in Myanmar in the field of HIV/AIDSprevention and care activities on high-risk groups, such as drug users and sex workers in

Yangon and Kachin State. In Pyapon Township, Community Health Care program to improveaccess to health care for the population in remote areas.

The Lab technician works for a Yangon program team aiming at STI/HIV/AIDS care andprevention program with vulnerable groups (SW, MSM).The Lab technicians mission is toprovide the quality on-site laboratory services for diagnosis of STIs, HIV and Opportunisticinfections including Tuberculosis, and testing of CD4.

2/HIERACH

The Lab technician works under the direct authority and responsibility of the Lab supervisor,to which she has to report.

3/ Duties description

Perform lab procedure for diagnosis Conduct basic microscopy diagnostics such as wet preps, gram, Ziehl

Nielsen, India Ink and other common stains, fecal examinations. Conduct serological tests for diagnosis of syphilis and HIV, Hepatitis B,

Hepatitis C

Conduct microscopic diagnosis of Opportunistic infections such asCryptococcal, Penicillium, TB, Fungus, etc

Conduct CD4 testing

MANAGE LAB STOCK AND SUPERVISION Management of stock, follow up of consumptions and planning of

orders of consumable items for Yangon under the supervision of Labtechnician supervisor Ensure the overall quality of the analyses performed in Yangon lab. Ensure for maintenance of laboratory premise, and keep all equipment

functional

Ensure the appropriate use of laboratory equipment and consumables Make sure that blood and infections waste handling procedures are

safe for all laboratory clinical staff and cleaners

RECORD, REPORT AND ENSURE THE RELIABILITY OF DATA Management of lab records systematically Report laboratory data to Project manager and reporting of

consumptions to logistic when Lab technician supervisor is not at hisbase

COLLABORATE AND COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER TEAMS FOR SMOOTHFUNCTIONING

Cooperates with clinic team (Hand over examinations result timely tothe clinical team)

Close collaboration with clinical staff to ensure optimal coordinationbetween laboratory investigations and clinical services.

Perform cross checking of slides of Kachin laboratory examinations. Participates in training component of MDM (e.g VPET, positive

prevention) Participates actively in medical meetings and program staff meetings Promotes a friendly, non-judgmental and professional approach and

respects the rights of all patients

4/ Requested skills

A person with one experience working in INGO lab Grade 1 of medical laboratory technician/Higher grade of medical lab

technician

Proven team working ability Autonomy, open minded and flexible Fair listening and speaking skills (English/Myanmar) Basics Computer Skills (Word, Excel)

Knowledge of prevention of HIV/STI Can work under stressful condition ( from time constraint ) Respect to MDM policy Good interpersonal communication skill
