DID YOU GET YOUR PIECE OF THE PIE?Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu contributed over $5.5 million to Whai Rawa accounts for Matched Savings and Annual

Distributions in March 2019. That’s ka rawe!

Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu supports the kaupapa of Whai Rawa with Annual Distributions and Matched Savings and if you are not saving or not a member, you missed out on your portion. We don’t want your whānau miss

out!

Distributions this year saw adult members (who were members in 2018) receive $125* into their Whai Rawa accounts and Tamariki received $125* plus a bonus $45* into their accounts!

REMEMBER TO SAVE REGULARLY TO ACHIEVE YOUR

MATCHED SAVINGS!It is mid-year already, have you started saving to hit your

targets? Don’t forget a little can turn into a lot!

How Matched Savings works: for every $1 adult members aged 16-64 save in the calendar year, Te Rūnanga will contribute another $1 (up to a maximum of $200* per year). For child members (under 16 years old as at 31 December), Te Rūnanga will contribute $4 for every $1

saved (up to a maximum of $200* per year).

SO MANY BENEFITS TO BEING A WHAI RAWA MEMBER!

If someone in your whānau is missing out, tell them! They can join any time online and get the benefits that

Whai Rawa offer. See the back page for the joining details. A replacement PDS for the Whai Rawa Unit Trust was

lodged on the scheme’s offer register on 28 September 2018, a copy of which is available at www.whairawa.com/pds/.

NEWBORN DISTRIBUTIONSWhai Rawa also has a Newborn

Distribution. If you signed up your pēpi to Whai Rawa during the

previous calendar year and before they turned one, their account will

receive $100* in March the year following.

Opening a Whai Rawa account for your pēpi can help teach them good money management from an early age, setting them up with the right

skills as they get older.

See more on our website https://whairawa.com/how-it-works/

NGĀI TAHU ROAD SHOWS 2019Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu are excited to be bringing back road shows in 2019! If you or your whānau live

outside the takiwā then we hope you will be able to join us for one of the 11 Road shows to be hosted throughout the North Island and Australia.

We welcome this opportunity to connect with you in person, share our latest news, and let you know about all the opportunities on offer.

This year’s theme is Ka Tū Te Tītī. The tītī (muttonbird) migrates across the globe but always returns to gather on the southernmost islands of Te Waipounamu (the South Island). Like the tītī, you too will be

forever connected with your iwi and your home – no matter where in the world you happen to be.

All attendees must register so we have enough kai and registration packs on the day. Give us a call 0800 524 8248 (inside Aotearoa) or +64 3 366 4344 (outside

Aotearoa). Or visit https://ngaitahu.iwi.nz/ngai-tahu-events/road-shows/.

INVESTMENT UPDATESHave you read one of our Investment updates? We now have regular Investment Commentaries on our website updating you on what the

markets are doing, as well as how this affects the Whai Rawa fund. Our new commentary for the first quarter of 2019 is up now.

Global financial markets continued the positive trend over April as share markets maintained their momentum from the last few months. Despite

fears of slowing economic growth, both Developed and Emerging Markets returned positive results. The New Zealand share market had a slower

month than its global counterparts, but still posted a positive return of +1.7%.

Quarter 1 for 2019 saw one of the strongest first quarters in history which more than offset the downturn we experienced in Q4. This resulted in a

pre-tax return (annualised) at 14.06% for the quarter. The strong performance was welcomed and just in time to close off the Whai Rawa

Unit Trust financial accounts which will be presented to Whai Rawa Board for approval, shortly.
