members of the military as well as fire, police, and emergency medi-

ONE THING FOR MISSION
The One Thing mission collection in May for
Spirit Lake Ministry Center. Mike and Libby
provide a summer day camp for kids, as well as a
Sunday school class, and they can use the follow-
ing items: Washable markers, foam sheets, foam
shapes, craft beads, faith-based coloring books,
adult coloring books, and other craft items and
supplies. Thanks to all who donated for the
SAAF house in March.

FUMC Administrative Council Meeting Minutes April 18, 2018
Members present: Pastor Lori Broschat, Nancy Lundon, Chuck and Jonielle Soderstrom, Gwen Hodgins, Joyce Carter,
Paul Goulding, Leo Sayler, Rodney Brown, Dennis Anderson
Call to Order: Chairperson Chuck Soderstrom called the meeting to order, Pastor Lori shared a prayer.
Approval of Minutes: Chuck called for approval of the March minutes; motion was made by Perry, seconded by Leo,
motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Paul reviewed the March financial report, as of March 31 showing a $31,407.67 balance in the
checking account. The expenses for March were $10,245.19 and the income was $8608.06 for a difference of -
$1637.13 for the month. Paul moved to approve, seconded by Gwen, motion carried.
Finance Committee Report: – Leo reported they met earlier tonight – they discussed church membership and how to
replace the members we’ve lost in the past year and they will be taking a closer look at expenses including contracts
for copier and other monthly costs. Nancy was asked to send a letter out to the Endowment committee reminding
them of their $800 commitment, UMW was reminded tonight as well.
Board of Trustees Report: Dennis shared he now has three bids for the shingling project on the parsonage and the
committee will be going over them soon. He presented Pastor with some insurance papers that need to go into the fire
safe in the office.
Staff Parish Relations Report: No report
Endowment Report: No report
Missions Report: Gwen reported they collected $300 during the brunch on Sunday for the Homeless Veterans pro-
gram. Pastor Lori asked the board if some of the Noisy Bucket offering could be set aside for emergency issues that
come up for congregation members as well as community members. She asked the committee if they would come up
with some guidelines for use of those funds.
UMW Report: Joyce reported she and three other women attended the Focus Meeting in Minot recently. The Shep-
herdess for UMW will attend the June meeting. UMW Sunday is scheduled for June 10.
Education Committee Report: Jonielle and Lori reported the Church School program will be Sunday, April 29 to wind
up the year. Plans are being made for honoring our graduates on May 20. VBS planning will be forthcoming.
Youth Group Report: Megan Estenson and Kristen Eisenzimmer will be meeting with the youth group on Sunday, April
25 at Marcos at 6:30 to start talking about what they want to do yet this spring and summer. We could have 7-8 youth
involved in grades 5-8.
Worship Committee Report: Jonielle would like the committee to take a day and go through the sanctuary to see what
things could updated.
Pastor’s Report: Pastor Lori shared some gift ideas that she’s considering for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
She reported Annual Conference is June 7-10 in Sioux Falls, SD. We will need someone to attend as Lay Delegate, any-
one interested should contact Pastor Lori.
She presented the board with some bids from two copier machine companies as our lease is up in June. The lowest
cost is a lease of $106.00 a month with CBS, including a colored copy option. It would also include a separate cost of
$27.00 a month for maintenance. Perry moved to go with the lowest cost company, seconded by Leo, motion carried.
Old Business: Joyce stated the Hymn Sing will be on Sunday, May 6 at 2 pm. They will be serving pie, ice cream and

KDLR Radio Broadcast Ministry Our Sunday morning radio broadcast costs us $60 per
week. In the past we had Sundays sponsored as a way of
honoring someone special. If you would like to sponsor a
Sunday in honor or memory of someone, please send your
donation to the church office and let us know what Sunday
you wish to sponsor. A sign-up sheet is also available in
the sanctuary on Sunday mornings.
Please listen to our weekly morning devotions at 6:10 am and our Sunday morning sermon broadcast at 9:05 am on
KDLR 1240 AM or 99.7 FM.
If you’d like to sponsor a Sunday, contact the church office or use the form in the sanctuary.

New Business: Perry reported he had paid the deposit for the concessions stand spot in the park for Devils Run, which
runs June 1-3. Chuck stated he has made arrangements with Leevers for food, we will need to set up Friday night, again
have one person (or couple) in charge each day. Gwen will get the sign-up sheets ready, it was decided to bump up
prices a bit as price of groceries keep going up each year. Joyce moved we purchase a new grill for cooking the burgers,
seconded by Leo, motion carried.
Joyce stated she would like to see the church picnic with Spirit Lake Ministry be held at Roosevelt Park in July if possi-
ble. Meeting was adjourned. The next meeting is Wednesday, May 16 at 7:00 pm.
