Later Life
• She retired from performing in 1976
• She died in Paris on 6 May 1992 at the age of 90
• Her funeral was at La Madeleine
• She was buried in Berlin close to her mother
• As the funeral car passed through Berlin, they drove through an open air market –passers by bought all the fresh cut flowers and tossed them on the casket
