Inaugural exhibition of installation art regarding the lyrics of “Io sono una finestra”, a song by Raffaele Petrangeli and Grazia Di Michele presented at the 2015 Sanremo Music Festival. The exhibit features a vegetable, sculpture-dress created by Diego Anselmi. Following the exhibition, there will be an encounter with Raffaele Petrangeli for “Orvieto Città del Dialogo” (Orvieto: City of Dialogue) organized by the ApertamenteOrvieto Association. A revival of an over thirty year old tradition that involved decorating balconies and windows with flags or banners and flowers according to the traditional neighborhood colors. The Association “Comitato Cittadino dei Quartieri” (The Committee of Neighborhood Citizens) invites retailers and inhabitants to decorate shop windows and houses.

Staffetta riservata ai ragazzi delle Scuole MedieArrivo della STAFFETTA PRAGA - ORVIETO

Staffetta podistica con il trasporto di fiaccola con partenza da Praga e arrivo ad Orvieto per l’ultima tappa da Bolsena ad Orvieto. L’iniziativa ricorda il cammino del sacerdote Pietro da Praga verso Roma, per consegnare a Papa Urbano IV una missiva del re Ottocarro II. Il sacerdote, durante il suo viaggio di ritorno, si fermò a Bolsena per celebrare la S. Messa nella Chiesa di Santa Cristina, dove si manifestò il miracolo eucaristico; il Papa, che si trovava in quel periodo ad Orvieto, fece trasportare la reliquia nella Città e ordinò di istituire la festa del Corpus Domini nel 1264.Estrazione della lotteria della staffetta dei quartieri ed abbinamento ai quattro quartieri.

Mini Relay race of the Quarters performed by children Relay race performed by middle school students

Finish Line of the PRAGUE- ORVIETO RELAY RACERelay race from Prague to Orvieto that transforms into a torch race during the last length from Bolsena to Orvieto. This is a running trail that serves to represent the journey that Priest Peter of Prague made to Rome in 1263. Peter of Prague was responsible for delivering a letter from King Ottocarro II to Pope Urban IV. During his return trip to Orvieto, he stopped in Bolsena to celebrate the Holy Mass in the Church of Santa Cristina, where the miracle happened. The Pope, who was in Orvieto, ordered the immediate transfer of the relic to the city and in 1264 extended the feast of Corpus Christi to the whole, Catholic world.Lottery drawing for the Relay Race of The Quarters and subsequent match of the four Districts.

There are two rows of ten pews: the spectators on one side act as the silent confessors and on the other side as the sinners. Serate musicali e spettacoli.Nelle campagne dell’orvietano si usava festeggiare la fine della trebbiatura con grandi banchetti, nei quali il piatto forte era l’oca arrostita nei tradizionali forni a legna. Con l’abbandono dei metodi tradizionali di trebbiatura e l’avvento delle moderne macchine per la raccolta del grano, sono scomparsi anche i riti e le abitudini legati a tale attività agricola. L’oca arrosto è comunque rimasta uno dei piatti tipici del territorio. La sagra è diventata negli anni uno degli appuntamenti gastronomici più significativi.

FROM THE MUSEUM TO THE CASTLEOn the Wings of Mythology

Guided tour of the “Claudio Faina” Museum of Orvieto and of the Rubello Castle near Porano. In search of classic mythological themes present in both Greek and Etruscan Art, preserved in the Orvieto Museum, and in its frescos attributed to Cesare Nebbia, visible in the Rubello Castle. The guided tours must be booked on the Friday prior to the requested date and will take place on Sunday mornings until June 28th. 10 AM • Start of the activity at the “Claudio Faina” Museum. 1 PM • Tour concludes at the Rubello Castle (the participants must provide their own means of transportation from Orvieto to Porano). The cost of the tour includes admission and tour guide, and eventual food and wine tasting. Admission is free for children under 12 and adults over the age of 75.
