(Battery Precautions)o Battery performance will be temporarily im-paired when temperatures drop near to 0 degreeC. In this case, keep the batteries warm duringuse or carry a spare set of batteries with you.

Batteries so impaired by exposure to cold willrecover their power if warmed up to normalrcmperature.o The service life of batteries will vary depen-ding on such factors as frequency of use, am-bient temperatures, and condition at time of pur-

chase.o Smearing or staining of battery terminals canlead to poor electrical contact. Use the batteriesafter carefully wiping the terminals with somecloth.o Do not discard used batteries in a fire ordismantle them.

front cover to open up slightly. Then lower the

front cover fully with the finger, and simulta-neously the lens unit will fully extend and the

camera circuitry will switch on, readying the

(Exposure LED>O Overexposure .... Subject is too bright so either stopdown the aperture until the LED shows a shutter speedof l/500 or slower, or use a slower speed film.@ Correct Exposure .... Go ahead and shoot. Whenthe upper LED lights, it indicates a correct exposure be!ween l,/500 and l/125 sec. will be made, and when themiddle and lower LEDs light, the same is indicated forshutter speeds between l/125 and l,/30 sec. and betweenl/30 and 8 sec. respectively.(There are times when twoLEDs will glow simultaneous-lv.)When the LED indicatesslower than l,/30 sec., camerashake may occur because ofslow shutter speed. In thiscase, either use a wider aper-ture or the electronic flash"Tl4 AUTO". Or use afaster film, or a tripod tosteady the camera.

When the lens, rangefinder window orviewfinder window is stained or smudged, gentlyclean the surfaces with soft lens cleaning tissuemoistened with some lens-cleaning solution in-stead of wiping it with a cloth. Clear dust off us-ing a blower brush.o The camera and flash units will normallyoperate in temperatures between -10 and +50degrees C. However, once the batteries are af-fected during use in extremely cold areas, theymay not function properly even in above tem-perature range. When the camera is exposed to sudden tempera-ture changes, you should guard against possiblecorrosion of the camera's internal mechanismresulting from condensation of moisture.o Avoid leaving your camera equipment in hotplaces (on the beach, or in car parked in directsunlight) or in highly humid areas as doing so cancause damage to it.

o Clean the equipment after using it at theseashore, in the mountains and in the rain. Air-borne salt, dust and other foreign matter willdamage the camera's internal system if allowedto pentrate inside.o Make a functional check of the cameraequipment beforehand when planning to takethose important shots (wedding, travel, etc.).o Use a soft cloth to wipe soiled exterior of theequipment. Never clean with any solvent, such asa thinner or benzene.o When not using the flash unit for longperiods of time, store it with the batteries remov-ed. Take it out and flash it occasionally to pre-vent deterioration of capacitator performance.o A high voltage circuit carried inside the flashunit poses a shock hazard so do not attempt todismantle the unit when it malfunctions.
