I, NORA JENSEN, declare that I am over 18 years ofage and am not a party to the above-entitled

action.

1. I am a long standing friend ofAngelica Hale, Melvin Hale and their children Taylor Vassell"and

Christian Vassell.

2. My home is in the city ofFair Oaks California.

3. The following facts are within my personal knowledge and if sworn as a witness I can and will '

truthfully and competently testify thereto.

4. On or about April 16 of2010, I my son Ryan and I planned a surprise PartY upon Angelica's

request for Christian's brother Taylor. Angelica had been attempting to contact Lloyd to see ifhe

would give her permission to have visitation with Christian. After a series of phoning and

emailing to get an answer from Lloyd, Angelica was finally able to get a definitive answer on

Friday afternoon to pick up Christian. She left my home and picked up Christian in Napa and

brought him back to my residence to spend time with Taylor, his mother, me and my sons. I have

known Christian and his family since he was 2 years old, and we have had many years of good

times together.

My son Ryan decorated the guest house where Angelica has regularly spent time to bring the

boys to spend with my family. As usual, Christian and Taylor had a blast with their mother and

my sons. I took pictures of the festive party on my cell phone and emailed them later to Angelica.

The photos are prima facie evidence of her visit to my home the weekend of April 16, 2010.

The North Bay Regional Center and Lloyd Vassell's claim that Angelica has not seen Christian

since 2008 and has not been actively involved in their lives for the last 12 years IS NOT TRUE.

I was also with Angelica when she needed to attend Taylor's graduation in June, 2009. I was the

person who drove her to the event. She was not allowed to see Christian and was not able to

spend more than 5 minutes with Taylor at the graduation. Lloyd told Angelica that he had other

plans for the boys, so she returned back to my home in Fair Oaks and spent the rest of the

weekend with my family before returning home to Palm Springs. This was not the fust time she

had difficulty keeping a relationship with her sons either by phone or in person.

She also would talk to me about her relationship with her parents. She told me that I was lucky

that I had such wonderful parents who were supportive in my times of need, and to be grateful

that I can come to them for help unconditionally. Contrary to Lloyd Vassell's claim that Angelica

is unable to have family relationships, her parents were upset because, Melvin'asked Mr. Lewis

(Angelica's father) to help them to stand up to Lloyd's threats and his withholding of the ,children

due to money Lloyd wanted from Angelica for child support. I know that the Hales had recently

lost their retail store and their home was in foreclosure during the economic downturn that started

occurring in 2008.

9. Angelica told me that Mr. Lewis sent an email to her stating that he was upset at the fact that

Melvin asked him to stand up for Angelica to Lloyd and his harassment for money. Angelica

shared with me that Lloyd owed her parents ten thousand dollars for a loan they gave him to buy

their first home in Sacramento. She told me that Lloyd never paid any of the loan back, and over

the years, she was left paying back her parents whenever she could.

10. At the same time, Angelica was involved in a car accident when she was hit by another driver and

she told me she was also asking her parents for help. Angelica told me multiple times that she

was no longer talking to her parents because in the email, her father told her that he was going to

send her money to go see a doctor, but he changed his mind and told her that he would not help

her. She said that the fact that she had a serious medical need and was turned away from getting

help from her parents to see a doctor was the final straw. Angelica said that she told her parents

that she would no longer be in contact with them.

11. Angelica is a wonderful mother and advocate and she should be able to have. her relationship with

Christian protected and enforced by the courts against continued interference with Mr. Vassell.

12. Angelica represented my family as a special education advocate and won services on behalf of

my son Eyan Jensen who has a disability. She was known in the Sacramento area by

professionals, organizations (such as FEAT - Families for Early Autism Treatment) and families

as a pioneering parent working on behalf of children with autism spectrum'disorders, including

her own children.
