Spoonemore has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 478th Civil Affairs Battalion, based in Perrine, Fla. The soldiers are normally activated from Army Reserve or Army National Guard units from throughout the U.S. They go through a series of in-processing procedures and training classes that prepare them for skills and situations they may face in their deployed environment. The course is designed to train service members to main- tain, prepare and load ammuni- tion for firing; operate and per- form operator maintenance on prime movers, self-propelled Howitzers, and ammunition vehi- cles; store, maintain, and distrib- ute ammunition to using units as a member of battery or battalion ammunition section; perform crew maintenance and partici- pate in organizational mainte- nance of weapons and related equipment; and establish and maintain radio and wire commu- nications. Muecke is the son of Robin R. Muecke-Lamster and stepson of Ronald Lamster of Westgate Drive, Vermillion, S.D. The private is a 2005 graduate of Vermillion High School. PHILIP M. JARED Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Philip M. Jared, son of Ann and Edison Jared of, received a Certificate of Commendation for superior performance of his duties while serving as a funeral detail member for Security Battalion, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. While solemnly honoring Marines and other service mem- bers, Jared's tremendous sense of duty, military bearing and per- sonal conduct were beyond reproach.
