ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਸਮਾਲੀਅਨਿ ਦੇਖੈਗਾ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ Day after day, He cares for His beings;

the Great Giver watches over all.

ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਿੈ ਕੀਮਨਤ ਿਾ ਪਵੈ ਨਤਸੁ ਦਾਤੇ ਕਵਣੁ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ Your Gifts cannot be appraised;

how can anyone compare to the Giver? ||2||

ਸੰਬਨਤ ਸਾਹਾ ਨਲਨਖਆ ਨਮਨਲ ਕਨਰ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਤੇਲੁ ॥ The day of my wedding is pre-ordained.

Come, gather together and pour the oil over the threshold.

ਦੇਹੁ ਸਜਣ ਅਸੀਸੜੀਆ ਨਜਉ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਨਹਬ ਨਸਉ ਮੇਲੁ ॥੩॥ My friends, give me your

blessings, that I may merge with my Lord and Master. ||3||

ਘਨਰ ਘਨਰ ਏਹ ੋਪਾਹੁਚਾ ਸਦੜੇ ਨਿਤ ਪਵੰਨਿ ॥ Unto each and every home, into each and

every heart, this summons is sent out; the call comes each and every day.

ਸਦਣਹਾਰਾ ਨਸਮਰੀਐ ਿਾਿਕ ਸੇ ਨਦਹ ਆਵੰਨਿ ॥੪॥੧॥ Remember in meditation the One

who summons us; O Nanak, that day is drawing near! ||4||1||

ਮਾਤਾ ਮਨਤ ਨਪਤਾ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ॥ Let wisdom be your mother, and contentment your father.

ਸਤੁ ਭਾਈ ਕਨਰ ਏਹੁ ਨਵਸੇਖੁ ॥੧॥ Let Truth be your brother - these are your best relatives.

ਕਹਣਾ ਹੈ ਨਕਛੁ ਕਹਣੁ ਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ He has been described, but He cannot be described at all.

ਤਉ ਕੁਦਰਨਤ ਕੀਮਨਤ ਿਹੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Your All-pervading creative nature cannot be

estimated. ||1||Pause||

ਸਰਮ ਸੁਰਨਤ ਦੁਇ ਸਸੁਰ ਭਏ ॥ Modesty, humility and intuitive understanding are my

mother-in-law and father-in-law;

ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਮਨਣ ਕਨਰ ਮਿ ਲਏ ॥੨॥ I have made good deeds my spouse. ||2||

ਸਾਹਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਵੀਆਹੁ ਨਵਜੋਗ ੁ॥ Union with the Holy is my wedding date, and separation

from the world is my marriage.

ਸਚੁ ਸੰਤਨਤ ਕਹੁ ਿਾਿਕ ਜੋਗ ੁ॥੩॥੩॥ Says Nanak, Truth is the child born of this Union.

ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜੀਐ ਕੰਮੁ ਸੁ ਹਨਰ ਪਨਹ ਆਖੀਐ ॥ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਦੇਇ ਸਵਾਨਰ ਸਨਤਗੁਰ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਖੀਐ ॥ ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਨਗ ਨਿਧਾਿੁ ਅੰਨਮਿਤੁ ਚਾਖੀਐ ॥ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਿ ਨਮਹਰਵਾਿ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਰਾਖੀਐ ॥ ਿਾਿਕ ਹਨਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਅਲਖੁ ਪਿਭੁ ਲਾਖੀਐ ॥੨੦॥ Whatever work you wish to accomplish-tell it to the Lord. He will resolve your affairs; the True Guru gives His Guarantee of Truth. In the Society of the Saints, you shall taste the treasure of the Ambrosial Nectar. The Lord is the Merciful Destroyer of fear; He preserves and protects His slaves. O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and see the Unseen Lord God. ||20||

Why is it such emotional event?

ਕੀ ਿ ਸੁਣੇਹੀ ਗੋਰੀਏ ਆਪਣ ਕੰਿੀ ਸੋਇ ॥ Haven't you heard the call from

beyond, O beautiful soul-bride?

ਲਗੀ ਆਵਨਹ ਸਾਹੁਰੈ ਨਿਤ ਿ ਪੇਈਆ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥ You must go to your in-laws;

you cannot stay with your parents forever. ||3||

ਿਾਿਕ ਸੁਤੀ ਪੇਈਐ ਜਾਣੁ ਨਵਰਤੀ ਸੰਨਿ ॥ O Nanak, know that she who

sleeps in her parents' home is plundered in broad daylight.

ਉਸਤਨਤ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਿਾਿਕ ਜੀ ਮੈ ਹਭ ਵਞਾਈ ਛੋਨੜਆ ਹਭੁ ਨਕਝੁ ਨਤਆਗੀ ॥ ਹਭੇ ਸਾਕ ਕੂੜਾਵੇ ਨਿਠੇ ਤਉ ਪਲੈ ਤੈਿੈ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ I have totally discarded praise and slander, O Nanak; I have forsaken and abandoned everything. I have seen that all relationships are false, and so I have grasped hold of the hem of Your robe, Lord. ||1||
