Choose 20 Images that correspond to thewords you have selected from the database.

Make sure they illustrate the word you havechosen: e.g. HOUSE

    Needs to be clearly

    related to the word

    you are trying to

    generate.

    No restriction on the

    types of images

    selected, i.e drawings,

    photos etc.

Two powerpoint presentations developed:one with the WORD stimuli and one withthe PICTURE stimuli.

Each item shown for 1 second followed by ablank screen for 1 second.

The pictures/words must be controlled forsize on the screen. All the words must bethe same size in their presentation, all thepictures should be controlled too.

As a class you need to decide on the type ofitems for the maths task you want to fill theretention interval with (it should occupythe participant for the full minute).

    Why do we need a

    retention interval??

    Why a maths task??

Continue to develop the test materials

Some class time next week to finish off

but need to be ready to run theexperiment and collect data in class nextweek.

Think about ethical issues related to the

study. You will need to print consentforms and produce a debrief slide foryour presentations.

    Think about starting

    to write up part of

    method section as

    youve been

    developing the

    materials, where you

    sourced words from

    etc.

    For next week

    Should follow the structure below.

Include ALL the key details, so that your study isreplicable. (e.g. timings of presentation, how stimuli

were selected/controlled, reasons for the structure ofprocedure.

    Remember this is an

    account of how you

    conducted the

    study, it needs to be

    clear enough for a

    reader to replicate

    it.
