Now EPA Approved!In April 2010, the EPA categorically approved portable and permanent automatic flushing devices (Attachment 2—2010 Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, Part B‐DWSRF 2.2‐11) for their Green Project Reserve Funding Program. Public Water Systems (PWS) can now apply for j g g y ( ) pp yfunding in the form of grants or low‐interest and long‐term loans to install automatic flushing devices in order to start saving water, time and money (see water‐saving calculator on page 3)!

The Green Project Reserve Funding Program (GPR) is designated by the EPA to promote green infrastructure by funding projects and products that provide water and energy efficiency improvements. This portable analytical device easily attaches to any fire hydrant (2½” NST) and incorporates a built‐in chlorine analyzer to measure and record disinfectant residual levels based on a programmed sampling schedule. Using the Programmable Logic

Control (PLC) interface, users can input minimum and desired residual levels, initial blow‐off times and maximum flushing durations. The unit will then operate under these parameters and will flush only when residuals fall below minimum prescribed levels and flush only the exact amount of water until desired residuals are attained. All residual and flushing data is captured on PLC allows users to a micro‐SD card or can be transmitted via telemetry or SCADA device. Since this unit is portable, data from this unit can be used to maximize manual and/or automatic flushing efficiency.

The MainGuard #94WM is a non‐draining unit that comes standard with an all brass waterway and fits into a standard 5/8” x ¾” existing meter setter. The unique threaded valve connects easily to the sampling rod and eliminates stress on the meter setter as with other quick‐disconnect models. The sampling rod (sold separately) includes a multi‐directional swivel blow‐off head and separate sampling bibb. The option of 1” and 2” sizes and low‐lead brass are available.

Kupferle s Yard Hydrant Companion is a pre installation sleeve for any ¾” yard hydrant. Install the Yard Hydrant Companion first, and then slide any ¾” yard hydrant down the sleeve and screw it onto the Yard Hydrant Companion’s internal ¾” nipple. Clamps at the ground line hold the hydrant in place. Then, when your hydrant needs to be replaced it can be done WITHOUT DIGGING! Just undo the clamps unscrew the entireDIGGING! Just undo the clamps, unscrew the entire hydrant and then repair and replace or install a new hydrant into the sleeve. Available in any depth of bury.
