Easter 3, 2020 Kia ora tamariki mā! This week we are reading a story from the Gospel of Luke about two disciples on the road to Emmaus. It is a few days after Jesus’ death and they are worried and confused. But then a stranger comes and walks with them and opens their eyes to a different reality. You can read the story here: Luke 24:13-35 Or you can watch the story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndtnZV-5QTo Breaking Bread Prayer The stranger walking with the disciples was Jesus, risen from the dead. But they didn’t recognise him until the end of the day, when he had a meal with them. Often we can be like the disciples: busy, confused, distracted with everything going on. But Jesus is present with us… if we take the time to notice. Here’s a prayer that might help: 1. At dinner time, have a conversation with your family/cluster. What did you do today? Who did you meet? What was your favourite part? What was your least favourite part? 2. Looking back, where do you recognise Jesus being with you in your day? 3. As a family you might like to thank Jesus together. Something like this could work: Jesus, thank you that you are with us in our day When we notice you and even when we don’t Turn our worries into peace Our anger into joy Our selfishness into generosity And our fear into hope. In your name we pray. Amen.

Breaking Bread Prayer  The stranger walking with the disciples was Jesus, risen from the dead. But they didn’t recognise him until the end of the day, when he had a meal with them.  Often we can be like the disciples: busy, confused, distracted with everything going on. But Jesus is present with us… if we take the time to notice. Here’s a prayer that might help:

1. At dinner time, have a conversation with your family/cluster. What did you do today? Who did you meet? What was your favourite part? What was your least favourite part?

2. Looking back, where do you recognise Jesus being with you in your day? 3. As a family you might like to thank Jesus together. Something like this could work:

Jesus, thank you that you are with us in our day When we notice you and even when we don’t Turn our worries into peace Our anger into joy Our selfishness into generosity And our fear into hope. In your name we pray. Amen.
