Over the course of 2010, the group have taken on a major project and have come together as ensemble in residence in Bray’s Mermaid Arts Centre. ey have been devising new music over four cycles, each with a very special guest artist, with a July visit from Bulgarian virtuoso of the kaval eodossii Spassov. As a live act, CADENZA are a musical experience not to be missed, displaying originality, versatility, raw energy and virtuosity on a broad range of instruments, harp, cello, fiddle, guitar. Cadenza’s music is mostly original material written by Deirdre and Anna, spiced up with both Traditional tunes and their own instrumental compositions. However, Traditional music is but one aspect of Cadenza’s wide and varied span of influences. Equally present is a healthy dose of contemporary folk, blues and world music. As a live act, CADENZA are a musical experience not to be missed, displaying originality, versatility, raw energy and virtuosity on a broad range of instruments, harp, cello, fi ddle, guitar. Cadenza’s music is mostly original material written by Deirdre and Anna, spiced up with both Traditional tunes and their own instrumental compositions. However, Traditional music is but one aspect of Cadenza’s wide and varied span of infl uences. Equally present is a healthy dose of contemporary folk, blues and world music.
