July Course Closure Updates 七月封场通告

From 6th July onwards, the golf course and driving range will be

closed every Monday until the end of August. 从 7 月 6 日至 8 月 31 日，球场及练习场将每周一封场。


Course Maintenance in Summer

Dear Members and Guests, Summer is upon us once again and that means hot and humid temperatures during July and August. Paspalum grass will take over on the fairways and rough completely and the winter rye grass will fall dormant until September. Paspalum is a paler shade of green than rye so the golf course color will change during the summer as well. We will plan to aerate the fairways one or two more times at the beginning of July and the beginning of August. We will aerate, lightly topdress with sand, and then roll them. Rolling the fairways involves rolling large, heavy drums around on top of the fairways which makes them more compact. After aeration, it will also help to close the aeration holes faster and help the fairways recover faster. Other benefits from rolling include better drainage and firmer fairways.

The fans around the greens will be in full operation for the summer as to keep the bent grass temperatures as cool as possible. We will do our best to keep the fans out of the line of play but they may on occasion need to be placed in positions that are not ideal for playing. Bent grass struggles in temperatures over 30 degrees so it’s important to control the temperature as much as possible. The green speed will drop slightly during the summer as well as we need to keep the grass height slightly higher for health reasons. We will also roll the greens and use growth regulators which should help to make them as fast as possible with limited stress.

Throughout the golf course, we will do our best to keep irrigation to a minimum but we will need moisture to ensure that the grass stays healthy throughout the summer. During the day, you may see our GCM team irrigating areas of the golf course with sprinklers or by hand. 夏季来临，意味着七八月将迎来闷热、潮

湿的天气。雀稗草开始在球道和长草区全

面生长，而冬季黑麦草则进入休眠期直到

九月。雀稗草相对黑麦草而言有点灰白，

因此球场在夏季的颜色也会随之改变。在七月初和八月初我们计划打一到两次

孔、铺一层轻沙，然后滚压它们。滚压球

道包括用又大又重的滚筒在球道上部进行

滚压，使得球道更紧凑。打孔之后，滚压

作业也会帮助打出的孔合拢，这样一来，

球道可以恢复得更快。滚压的另一个好处

就是可以让排水更快，球道更硬。果岭上的电扇会开足马力保证本特草的生

长环境尽可能的凉爽。我们尽量不让风扇

影响各位的打球，但有时会不得不放在指

定位置。本特草不喜欢气温超过 30℃，所以控制

它的周边温度是很关键的。在夏季，为了

高于平时，因此果岭速度会有所下降。

我们也会滚压果岭，同时使用植物生长

佘山青少年取得开门红 | Sheshan Junior All-Star Win at AJGA Juniors 恭喜卢钰雯赢得在纽约 Ravenwood 高尔夫俱乐部举办的 AJGA 青少年全明星赛的冠军。带着惊人的

比赛成绩 74 杆、73 杆和 71 杆，卢钰雯用一个小鸟锁定了最后一洞的胜局，比第二名少打了 2 杆。

更令人印象深刻的是，卢钰雯比同组竞技的女孩们还要小 3、4 岁。

Daphne Chao also played well in the event shooting very solid scores of 73, 76, and 74. Her scores were good enough to finish in 5th place, 5 shots behind Tina. Tina and Daphne were two of the youngest players in the event so we look forward to many more great results from two of Sheshan’s brightest stars.

今年，我们 PGA 教练高迪将带领 3 名青少年精英开始他们第一个在圣地亚哥青少年夏令营的高尔夫

之旅。邵熙文、邵熙庭和刘安林将与高迪教练先在加州进行训练，然后奔赴圣地亚哥。It is now tournament season in the United States and many of our Junior Members will be taking their skills overseas to compete against kids from around the world. This year, our PGA Coach, Gordy Walker will be taking 3 kids to compete in their first tournament at the San Diego Junior Masters. Alan and Bowen Shao as well as Jason Liu will head to California to spend some time training with Gordy prior to teeing it up in the tournament.

恭喜叶雷入选国家业余高尔夫球集训队 | Congratulations to Angelina Ye! 六月中，国家体育总局小球运动管理中心对“国家

业余高尔夫球集训队新一期成员”进行了公示。佘

山高尔夫俱乐部叶雷获选进入此次集训的正编运

动员，可谓是前途一片光明。

This June, China’s State General Administration of Sports announced the members of “National Amateur Golf Training Team” and Sheshan Golf Club’s very own junior elite Angelina Ye took an official spot in the prestigious team! What a bright future indeed for the 14 year-old.

此次与她一起入选的还有代表国家参加 2014 年亚运会的业余运动员王馨迎、关天朗、白政恺；代

表国家参加 2013 年男子亚太团体锦标赛、2014 年女子亚太团体锦标赛的业余运动员金诚、王梓

漪，可谓是人才济济。叶雷能与他们一起入选，并取得正编运动员资格，从另一方面也显示了自己

的实力。 Together with her on the decorated team we have, 2014 Asian Games amateur representatives Wang Xin Ying, Guan Tian Lang, Bai Zheng Kai; 2013 Men & & 2014 Women Asia-Pacific Group Championships representatives Jin Cheng and Wang Zi Yi. Angelina has indeed proved her skills and abilities by leveling herself with individuals of such calibers.

The National Amateur Golf Training Team is established as part of preparation works towards 2018’s Olympic games. On top of that, it serves to improve holistic qualities of China Golf Association’s training infrastructures and a platform to gather talents from around the nation. Let us once again congratulate Miss Angelina Ye on her success and wish her all the best in her coming golf endeavors!


Improving Your Swing Path 改善你的挥杆路径 Any player or caddy cannot bend, break or hack anything growing or fixed if it improves your lie, your stance, or your area of intended swing. Even during a practice swing one may not break a tree or branch to clear the way for the swing.

Anything falling from the tree during a practice swing will incur a 2 shot penalty for each object. 3 leaves = 6 shots.

You can however move any loose impediment interfering with your swing, stance or ball flight. (Loose Impediment = anything not growing or fixed in the ground.)

The penalty for doing so is loss of hole in match play, or a 2 shot penalty in stroke play.

任何的球员或球僮都不能通过随意的弯曲、折断或攻击任何在生长或已固定的障碍来改善自己的姿

态和准备击打的区域。甚至是在练习的期间，您也不可能通过破坏任何树或树枝来为击打清扫障

碍。

在练习击打的期间，如有任何东西从树上落下，则会导致两次罚杆（每件掉落的东西各罚两

杆）。例如，树上掉下 3 片树叶，那就是罚 6 杆。然而，你可以移动任何干扰你击打、姿态、球飞

行的非固定障碍物。（非固定障碍物=任何没有在生长或固定在地上的物体）。

移动非固定障碍物的处罚规定是在比洞赛丢洞或在比杆赛中有 2 个发球的处罚。

Many members and guests wanted more after the last Angus Dundee Whiskey tasting, so together with Mayfair Fine Wine, Sheshan Golf Club hosted “Hidden Gems of Pomerol – A Grand Wine Tasting” on 4th July, last Saturday for 27 prestige guests. The highlight of the event was none other than Mr Laborie Stéphane, export manager of Jean-Pierre Moueix, who flew in personally to share his connoisseur experience with the night’s guests.

However, this tiny wine growing commune of the Bordeaux Appellation actually produces one of the world’s most expensive and highly regarded wines. For this event, Jean-Pierre Moueix shared with guests 4 classic Pomerol vintages, with Mr Laborie Stéphane explaining the sophistication behind every drop of red essence, its past and present, and of course their birth land – Pomerol.
