Steaming is a common method of cooking in Chinese cuisine

and is becoming increasingly popular around the world

because of its health benefits. The resulting design is a

simple and practical steamer set which is easy to understand

and suitable for Asian and Western steam cooking alike.

Steam Poacher is an extension which is design to enhance

your steaming experience. Honest and technologically

simple materials combine to disguise a high level of

functionality.

蒸食料理，是華人飲食文化中引以為傲的烹煮方式。蒸

鍋造型靈感來自於雲南汽鍋，底部喇叭型上突氣孔為其

特色。搭配蒸鍋烹飪，即可透過氣孔湧出的蒸氣循環將

食材煮熟；食材受熱均勻，烹飪時間縮短。溫和且穩定

Steaming food has always been at the core of Chinese

gastronomy. The Steam Poacher, paired with the original JIA

Steamer Set, elevating the technique to new heights and

offering a range of exciting new culinary possibilities. The JIA

Steam Poacher is inspired by the concept of steamer pots from

China's Yunnan province, which circulate the steam to

distribute the heat more evenly. This method of cooking

preserves the natural flavor of the food along with the vitamins

and minerals, which are often lost with other forms of cooking.

Steamer SetMaterials : Fireproof ceramic, Cedar wood, Terra cotta

The steamer basket replaces the traditional bamboo base with

terracotta. This natural material has efficient liquid absorbing

characteristics, meaning it can absorb any excess moisture

generated during steaming, ensuring that the food is perfectly moist.

The steamer pot and lid are made from fireproof ceramic, which has

excellent heat resistance compared to regular stoneware, making it

less likely to crack at higher temperatures. The JIA Inc. steamer pot

can be used on open flame gas stoves and in both conventional and

microwave ovens.

Ding, the oldest cookware in Chinese culture, is the origin

of culinary arts and all flavors. Inspired by ancient Chinese

bronze Ding, designer seamlessly merged the classic

shape with practical function, creates a Ding that fits

modern cooking needs.

CasseroleMaterials : Enameled cast iron, Silicone

To facilitate modern cooking requirements, Ding Casserole

has a flat base while legs have been incorporated in a

separate stand. The enameled interior contrasts with the

matte black exterior surface, providing a functional

cooking surface.

Fireproof ceramic casseroleMaterials : Fireproof ceramic, Silicone

Fireproof ceramic is more stable and less susceptible

toward changes of temperature, making it less likely to

crack or break during cooking. Thus, this warm white

casserole can be used in conjunction with gas stove, oven

and microwave cooking and also presentable directly on

the table with the tri-legged base.

BowlMaterials : Silicone, Porcelain, New bone china

Following the inspiration from ancient Chinese Ding, Ding

Bowl features exquisite miniature size, and looks great on

the table together with Ding Casserole.

Following Ding casserole, designer smartly uses two

protruding points as a simple mechanism to joint two

actual identical pieces, while turning one of them

upside down, together. Thus, you can choose from

different combination of the products to suit your

baking needs.

Office for Product Design has designed a Mitt

which complements their Ding series. A layer

of insulating cotton and silicone lies within the

neutral exterior fabric to improve thermal

insulation. Silicone anti-slip dots added to the

outer layer of mitts provide enhanced grip.

在熱氣蒸騰的廚房中，鼎隔熱墊 /隔熱手套是安心準備好料理不可或

Authenticity is the keyword for the Wok and Utensils designed by Office

for Product Design. Carbon steel, stainless steel and natural magnolia

wood are beautifully crafted together in harmony.

Carbon steel is a material long used for making woks. It is strong,

durable and conducts heat quickly and evenly. No artificial coating is

used, meaning it can be seasoned to create a natural non-stick coating.

Magnolia grows slowly and is characterized for its strength, density and

hardness. The designer chose it to go with carbon steel to form this

unpretentious, highly functional wok design. The Wok and utensils

invites you to try out creative Chinese home cuisine and makes a

pleasing focal point when presented on the table.

Knives and Chopping Board Materials : Bamboo, stainless steel, Zirconium oxide ceramic

"Sino" is a compact set of kitchen knives with a unique Chinese

character designed to address most domestic cooking needs. The

set includes a large chef's knife and a smaller paring knife, both

with advanced ceramic blades which are specifically suited for

cutting and slicing without the need for regular re-sharpening. In

contrast, the traditional Chinese cleaver has a durable stainless

steel blade which combines the weight required for chopping with

the sharpness necessary for more delicate cutting operations. This

careful consideration of materiality is further reflected in the

matching double sided chopping board.

Machined from laminated bamboo, it has an edge grain cutting

side and an opposing end grain chopping surface which can

withstand the impact of the cleaver without damaging its blade.

廚刀 /砧板材 質：竹、不銹鋼、精密陶瓷

竹華廚刀富有獨特的中國特色。通過最合適的選料設計

出一組符合大多數家庭烹飪需求的廚刀。其中主廚刀和

削皮刀以強化陶瓷作刀片，適合細切和削片而不需打磨。

中式菜刀則以高耐性不銹鋼製成，具重量的刀身利於

斬剁，銳利的刀鋒能作出更細膩切割等工序。竹華砧板

囍相逢油醋瓶 材 質：口吹玻璃、不銹鋼、矽膠

取樣葫蘆天生玲瓏的形貌，重新詮釋西方餐桌上成

對的油醋瓶組，靈動的線條設計，外型彷如一對戀人

合舞，相偎相依。一如中國的「囍」字，成雙成對。

吉如意椒鹽罐 材 質：壓克力、不銹鋼、矽膠

取樣葫蘆無拘束曲線，貌如不倒翁，天生搖擺。風

水之說中，葫蘆具有避邪趨吉之效。其形體狀似

中國「吉」字，一派洋洋得意姿態。取其兆頭，

吉祥如意。採用厚實透明塑料材質的椒鹽罐組，

说中，葫芦具有避邪趋吉之效。其形体状似中国「吉」

字，一派洋洋得意姿态。取其兆头，吉祥如意。采用厚

实透明塑料材质的椒盐罐组，让这组饭桌上的开心果，

Sauces have always been an important element of Chinese

cuisine. This set of miniature HULU are designed for the

holding and pouring of various kinds of sauces.

Hulu Pas De Deux Oil & Vinegar SetMaterials : Mouth blown glass, Stainless steel, Silicone

In this re-interpretation of the oil and vinegar set, flowing and

intersecting lines are cleverly incorporated into the

curvatures of the gourd. HULU Pas de Deux portrays a

couple caressing forms in dance and implies a link to the

Chinese character 囍(Xi), “double happiness”.

Hulu Salt & Pepper SetMaterials : Acrylic, Stainless steel, Silicone

In Feng-Shui, the gourd serves as the instrument to block the

evil and invite the good. And the shape of the gourd also

resembles the Chinese character of “吉(Ji)” – meaning good

fortune. Using high quality acrylic, HULU Salt & Pepper Set

serves such as the lucky charm and a happy element on the

dining table.

的葫蘆。葫蘆中式酒水組因應亞洲國家飲酒習慣，

不論是溫熱或是冰鎮，雙層玻璃的設計，讓使用者

能在最適宜的溫度，享用冰涼爽口，或是暖口而不

燙手的美酒。

中式酒水组材 质：双层玻璃、不锈钢、硅胶

自周朝以来，夫妻行交杯酒礼，用的就是晒干

的葫芦。葫芦中式酒水组因应亚洲国家饮酒习惯，

不论是温热或是冰镇，双层玻璃的设计，让使用者

能在最适宜的温度，享用冰凉爽口，或是暖口而不

烫手的美酒。

Hulu Liquor Container and GlassMaterials : Heat resistant double wall glass,

The HULU has been used for natural containers

since the Chou Dynasty (1066 BC-770 BC). In

wedding ceremonies of this period, brides and

grooms exchanged drinks from a HULU that was

cut into two halves. This ritual symbolized the

harmony of yin and yang, while the making of one

entity from two parts represented the beginning

of the Home for newlyweds.

In Asian countries, wine/liquor is consumed both

warm and cold. When used for either temperature

of wine, the double wall mouth blown wine glass

keeps the wine in desirable temperature for

longer period.

The wine decanter takes the organic form of the HULU,

enlivening the dining experience. When in use, wider

round body allows enough room for aeration. Stainless

steel filter can separate wine sediment and aerate the wine

to fully develop its aroma and taste. Base holder is used to

secure decanter and to adjust the position of the decanter

to optimize the exposure to air.

「埏埴以為器，當其無，有器之用。故有之以為利，

無之以為用。」 《老子道德經 第十一章》

平、淨、圓潤、捨棄多餘線條，讓用者與觀者關注器

皿與食物本身，因為有了器皿內的空間，才發揮了器

皿承載物的作用，設計師以老子哲學「有無相生」

發想：「有」予人便利，乃因營造的「無」發揮了作

Clay is fashioned into vessels; but it is on their empty

hollowness, that their use depends. Therefore, what has a

(positive) existence serves for profitable adaptation, and

what has not that for (actual) usefulness.

The minimal design and the attention to details are to

awaken the sense of touch while in use. With no ambition

to translate the philosophy of the center figure of Chinese

Taoism, Lao Tsze (500B.C.), designer tries to record her

understanding for this master’s thinking:harmony between

the being (有you) and the non-being (無wu). To keep the

design as minimal as possible is to encourage the user to

notice the void emptiness, the hollow part that people put

food in/on.Consistent and floating lines in this series have

made your own free combination on the table a fun and an

artistic event.

In winter snow, only pine, bamboo and plum blossoms

can bloom during even the deepest winter. They are

regarded as symbols of perseverance and integrity, and

are known as the “Three Friends of Winter” in Chinese

culture.

The “Three Friends of Winter” has been a common motif

in Chinese art for over a thousand years. Today, inspired

by a Sung Dynasty (AD 960~1279) painting, designer

Kate Chung interprets the subject with her own poetic

design language: the rays on the plate symbolize traces

of pine needles falling on snow-covered ground. The

smooth curves of the plum blossom bowls, calls to mind

the kiss of falling petals on palm and lips. Finally, the

bamboo carafe and cups, standing tall on the table,

invite you to raise a toast to growing friendship.

dating back to the Ming dynasty (A.D. 1368). It is characterized

by a refined and semi translucent finish. Adopting this traditional

craftsmanship, RICE plays with the subtle contrast between

glazed and un-glazes finishes to create a set of daily dinnerware

with a delicate sophistication.

'Taste' is a tabletop condiment set which allows for

a wide range of seasoning and condiments to be

assembled to suit individual taste and culinary

customs - Western and Asian alike. Hiding the

transparent glass bottles in a plywood stand, the

condiment set invites discovery. Ingeniously, the

round-bottom design of the bottles prevents them

from standing on their own, prompting the user to

return them to the stand after use and that way

ensuring the table remains orderly and uncluttered.

Bamboo and porcelain, two quintessentially warm

Chinese materials, are combined through innovative

techniques and made purely by hand to create tableware

suitable for contemporary use.

a full table, with everything served and on display at the

Purple Clay紫 泥Designer : Gearlab

Coffee SetMaterials : Yixing zisha, Purple clay, Bamboo, PC, Silicone,

Stainless steel

Purple clay is natural clay unique to China, discovered around

Taihu in Jiangsu during the Northern Song Dynasty.

(1000-1200 A.D.). When fired, the purple clay assumes a fine

and sandy texture that retains the temperature of the tea held

inside longer than ordinary ceramics. Teapots made out of

Zisha clay are highly prized because their unglazed surface

absorbs traces of the beverage, creating a more complex

flavor.

Reminders of the Earth’s Warmth and Changes Over Time

JIA Inc. partnered with Gearlab from Taiwan to create a

one-of-a-kind coffee pot that makes use of Purple clay’s

unique material qualities. The unglazed sandy texture of

natural purple clay is reminiscent of the warmth of the earth.

After extended use, the purple clay coffee pot takes on the

fragrance of your preferred coffee blend and the warmth of

your hands. Your memories will fill this coffee pot and cup,

A family of simple teacups which initially seem

identical but soon show their own subtle personality.

The basic silhouette of "Persona" is a contemporary

reinterpretation of the traditional Chinese tea cup

with lid. Closer inspection reveals a series of

individual texture like patterns which are almost

more tactile than visual.The true quality of these

cups is only fully appreciated once held in the hand

or up against the light, when the translucency of the

delicate porcelain accentuates the patterns.

Snack boxes originated from Six Dynasties and during Ming

dynasty it was known as “Quan” boxes. People took the

pronunciation of "Quan", which is the homonym to the Chinese

character signifying "complete" or even "perfection".

Small and large boxes with a combination of opaque and

smooth surfaces, as well as a variety of colour selections, can

be piled up or used individually, allowing you to maximise your

creativity on the dining table.

Dou Plate Materials : Bio degradable EPA Melamine

The high-stemmed “Dou” plates were dinnerware from early

Qin dynasty used for ceremonies. The tall and slender stem

of the plate was designed based on how nobles sat kneeling

down, and such design allows you to take food out

conveniently from teh plate. An irregular surface adds a

touch of tenderness to the plates.

This Dou plate reinvented by modern methods with different

heights can make your dining table more colourful; they can

also be used to decorate your home.

multifunctional, they are the main cutlery for

the Asian population and also known as the

Oriental Civilisation in the West.

The Norm series include chopsticks in

arcylic and a pouch in silicone. Hidden

magnets inside the ends of the chopsticks

keep them together when stored and allows

them to be separated with a satisfying snap,

mimicking the familiar gesture of using

bamboo chopsticks. Black, white and red

colors are available providing a variety of

choices.

qualities of men, and does not seek to perfect their

bad qualities.” (Confucian Analects)

Without flowers, the vase can stand along as a

glowing centerpiece; or with flowers the combination

of materials heightens the essence and vitality of

whatever is showcased within. The semi-translucent

duotone glass is a result of craftsmanship from the

Qing Dynasty. Fired at high temperatures, it is a

product of only the most skilled glass-blowers, who

formed the vase piece by piece.
