His Early Life

He is a Chinese American, who was born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in a Christian family in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Palo Alto. His parents emigrated from Taiwan to the United States in the mid-1970s

When graduated from high school, Lin sent his own achievements and the video highlights in which he was playing basketball to all the 8 universities in Ivy League( 常青藤联盟） , Stanford university, University of California, and his dream university—--- UCLA （加州大学洛杉矶分校） . However, only 4 universities replied him. According to Lin’s memories, UCLA replied “ No Interest”, the Stanford Universitypretended to be interested, while UC told Lin to contact him next time.

His Career

After receiving no athletic scholarship offers out of high school and being undrafted（未选秀） out of college, the 2010 Harvard University graduate reached a partially guaranteed contract deal later that year with his hometown Golden State Warriors ( 金州勇士队） .

Lin seldom played in his rookie season and was assigned to the NBA Development League （美国职蓝发展联盟） (D-League) three times. He was waived（被裁掉） by Golden State Warriors （金州勇士队） and the Houston Rockets （休斯顿火箭队） in the following preseason before joining the Knicks early in the 2011–2012 season.

Again, he was assigned to the D-League and continued to play sparingly.

However, In February 2012, he unexpectedly led a winning streak by New York while being promoted to the starting lineup（首发阵容） , which generated a global following known as Lin-sanity(林来疯，林疯狂） . Lin is one of the few Asian Americans in NBA history, and the first American player in the league to be of Chinese or Taiwanese descent.

In the following NBA season, owing to his efforts, his team, Knicks won seven straight(七连胜） . Especially in the game Knicks VS Toronto Raptors（多伦多猛龙队） , Lin shot a 3 point goal in the final 0.5s and led his team won Raptors with 90-87. What a great success for Lin! After he became a starter for the Knicks, the Associated Press called Lin "the most surprising story in the NBA".

Actually, about four weeks ago, he was a basketball player without any security contract ( 无保障性合同） in Knicks ， and was going to bewaived again and had to lodge in（寄宿）his friend’s home, and he was an underdog at that time, but now he may worth 1.7 billion dollars. （未来身价可达 1.7 亿美元）

---- Kobe Bryant( 科比） in a post-game interview after his game against the Knicks, said ："playing that well don't usually come out of nowhere. It seems like they come out of nowhere, but if you can go back and take a look, his skill level was probably there from the beginning. It probably just went unnoticed .”
