Health Services

A Health Center located on campus, is open 24 hours a day.

Exchange students should possess up to date medical insurance

before arrival. All full-time students benefit from SU’s private health

insurance.

Housing and Living

On the tranquil SU campus, students find facilities to meet all of their

daily needs. Dormitories are designed for occupancy by two or four

persons. International students have priority in housing allocation.

Students should budget approximately 400-600 € per month for

housing, board, and general expenditures. Dining facilities, state of

the art sports and fitness and performing arts centers, movie hall,

book store, supermarket, bank and student clubs are also available

on campus. 70% of SU students live on campus.

Information Center

The Information Center (Library) allows comfortable working and

studying quarters for 600 students; and has an extensive collection of

almost 100,000 contemporary printed volumes, 20,000 electronic

periodicals and approximately 35,000 multimedia items.

IT Services

The indoor and outdoor network connections throughout the campus

connect every student to internet and IT services, such a web-based

administrative system, on-line teaching tools, video conferences, and

distributed and networked information systems.

Cultural Activities

Cultural life at SU is very important. We have the largest performing

arts center on the Asian side of Istanbul. Every month at least nine

performances span the entire spectrum of classical music, theatrical

performances, rock concerts, debates, ballet, and many other.

SU in the World

At SU, we aim to develop internationally competent and confident individuals,

enriched with the ability to reflect critically and independently, combined with a

strong sense of social responsibility; furthermore, we seek to contribute to the

development of science and technology on a global level, as well as disseminating

the knowledge created to the benefit of the community. As such, we have

developed international agreements with partners in the key global regions: in

Europe, ISC Paris, ESCP Europe, Tilburg University, Helsinki School of

Economics, Copenhagen Business School; in Asia, National University of

Singapore, Tokyo Metropolitan University; and in the USA, Babson College and the

University of Florida. In 2011, we signed a strategic agreement with the MIT Sloan

School of Management covering several important areas including the SU MBA-MIT

Sloan MSMS dual degree program. We now aim to develop further relationships

with dynamic universities to foster research and student understanding of current

and future global challenges.

Student and Faculty Profile

In Turkey, students enter university through a central nationwide exam administered

once a year. About 60% of our scholarship students come from the top 10.000

students in this examination. Our full scholarship students rank in the top 2500

among the 1.5 million candidates who take the exam every year.

90% of SOM's faculty members have a PhD degree from abroad (typically from top

US universities) and 40% have worked abroad at least three years before joining

SOM. As a research based university, our faculty members publish in top science

and social science index journals.

Location

SU is 20 minutes from the Sabiha Gökçen International Airport on the Asian side

and one hour from Atatürk International Airport on the European side of Istanbul.

We offer regular bus service between the campus and two main city centers,

Taksim on the European Side and Kadıköy on the Asian side. A large outlet mall

with around 200 stores is accessible within a few minutes with a shuttle service.
