service to some demo sites in Taipei.• 2008 May CHT drafted IPv6 Development White Paper.• 2009~10 HiNet is preparing to provide FTTx IPv6/IPv4

dual stack service and video remote management service (VRS) in all POPs.

• 2010 Feb. HiNet obtained “IPv6 Enabled ISP Logo”.

• The IPv6 Enabled ISP Logo Program integrates two levels: basic and advanced. Advanced is still not released.

• The followings are the technical requirements, which an ISP must satisfied to obtain the logo.– Network Accessibility Requirement (The ISP should

have AS number.)– Active IPv6 Address Requirement (Active IPv6

customer accessing to internet with the IPv6 address of the ISP’s IPv6 address blocks.)

– Persistence of IPv6 service Requirement (The ISP’s network should keep reachable and with global routing ability.)

• Currently, 46 ISPs obtained “IPv6 Enabled ISP Logo” in the world.

• HiNet obtained “IPv6 Enabled ISP Logo” in 2010 Feb. and is the first one and only one in Taiwan.

TWIX IPv6 Network


• IPv6 Native Service– Users must prepare a router which connects to HiNet IPv6

network with leased line.

• IPv6 Configured Tunnel Service– Users must be HiNet IPv4 subscribers with fixed IP address to

set up a configured tunnel with HiNet tunnel server.

• Tunnel Broker Service– Users must be HiNet IPv4 subscribers with installation of client-

end TB software to set up dynamic tunnel with HiNet tunnel broker.

• FTTx IPv6/IPv4 Dual Stack Service– Users must be HiNet FTTX subscribers and their PC must

support IPv6 PPPoE function.12

• Smooth Migration Plan– Unlike Y2K, IPv6 migration won’t be a short term process.

• Investment Saving– IPv6 is capable of all new deployment.– IPv6/IPv4 are capable from Core to Access Network.– Network Management with IPv6/IPv4 capability

• Seamless Services Provision– Service provision is independent of IPv4 or IPv6 network.– More commercial services and business models should be found

and learned by ISPs.

• Getting more Experience– More trial cooperation with other ISPs or research organizations

• CHT commits to support National IPv6 Projects continuously.

• HiNet launched the IPv6/IPv4 dual stack service with FTTx access alpha test to CHT employers on Jan. 1st, 2010.

• HiNet is preparing to support IPv6/IPv4 dual stack service with FTTx access in all PoPsbefore 2011.

• CHT is on the way to lead our customers into a whole new and convenient IPv6 life style.
