INTRODUCTION
There are many different LED modules and LED light engines (LLE) available on the market, usually comprised of LED light sources, engines and drivers. In most cases, further compo-nents must be added to assure their correct functionality.
The first of those is a heatsink. As LED light sources and modules with high lumen outputs are sensitive to thermal conditions, heatsinks are an intrinsic part of the development pro-cess for most luminaires. However, what really marks the difference between luminaires is their ability to provide a desired LIDC. With standard LED modules and engines, the optical aspects of the luminaires design must be solved through the addition of reflectors, refractors or lenses.
Herein lies the key to what makes Infinitas unique: it is ready to use without the need for further development. Infinitas is a 3in1 LED unit that combines high-performance LED light sources with carefree thermal management and an original hybrid optical system. This makes Infinitas an ideal choice for both luminaire manufacturers and those seeking the devices necessary to create a bespoke lighting solution.
• A compact and ready to use LED unit with integrated thermal manage-ment and hybrid optics
• Easy installation into luminaires and other applications
LEDs:• Net lumen output of up to 1240 lm• UGR 21/24 (16 in situation)• CCT 3000 K or 4000 K• CRI 80 (93 on request)• MacAdam 3
Optics:• PMMA microprism diffuser and metallised reflector
Thermal management:• Aluminium plate
APPLICATIONS• Infinitas’ lighting parameters make it ideal for use in office, hospitality,
education, laboratory, presentation, retail and residential lighting appli-cations
• Suitable for implementation into general illumination luminaires, track luminaires and modular luminaire systems
• Developed also for direct incorporation into ceilings, shelves, metal pro-files and furniture
KEY FEATURES
INFINITAS STRUCTURE
• Aluminium mounting plate that acts as a heatsink for the module
• Thermal interface material
• FR4 PCB with flexible lumen output according to used drive current
• Two installation screws make it easy to install the module in a wide array of settings
• Cover pad
• PMMA microprism diffuser
• Metallised reflector
The mechanical design of Infinitas is tailored to the idea of easy in-stallation. Whether mounting into a luminaire, a shelf, or directly into a ceiling, all you need to do is attach the module using two M4 screws. To achieve a smooth opening, we recommend laser cutting or the use of an additional frame placed within the opening to ensure a good finish.

OPTICAL DESIGN & PERFORMANCE
The Infinitas optical system consists of primary and secondary optical parts. The primary part is a 2D and 3D geometric structured diffuser that modifies the light distribution of the light source. The secondary optical part is a reflector, which directs the light in the specified shape.
Thanks to the combination of these two optical parts, Infinitas offers a LIDC suitable for use in offices in accordance with associated standards. This is possible as Infinitas has a very low glare rating, with less than 16 possible in situ and an average illuminance of the light emitting surface of Lavg < 1500 cd/m2.
Manufacturers and lighting designers can choose between and combine different types and numbers of Infinitas units in order to achieve a desired LIDC, which can be further refined by setting of the drive current for each unit.
Alternatives of optic materials
Alternative to standard microprism are different optical refractors / diffusers which allows to achieve various light distribution curves and due to the diverse transmis-sion also slightly different lm output. Available on request.

TC POINTThe TC point is the location on the Infinitas PCB where the hottest LED in found. This can be ascertained using a thermal imaging camera. Mount a type K thermocouple on the closest point to the thermal pad – cathode. Make sure that the thermocouple is fixed in direct contact with the Tc point. The maximum permissible temperature at the Tc point must be checked under worst-case operational conditions and in a thermally stable state.
TP POINTThe TP point refers the temperature at the Tc point related to the performance of the LED. The TP point is located on the top side of the PCB.
EXPECTED LIFETIME & RELIABILITYThe Infinitas module is designed to operate without an additional heatsink in ambient tem-peratures of up to 45 °C. The expected life-time of the unit when used in compliance with the defined operating condition parameters is 50,000 hours / L80 B10 and 130,000 hours / L70 B50.
