S khc bit chnh gia 2 trang thi l idle mode khng chim ti nguyn v tuyn n UTRAN, connect mode chim 1 hay 1 vi ti nguyn n UTRAN.1.SO SNH Idle mode(paging area is known; paging needed) UE c nhn thc bi nhn thc ca NAS vi cc tham s IMSI, TMSI and P-TMSI and P-TMSI UTRAN khng c thng tin c nhn ca UEs(invidual information) trong idle mode (no RRC connection) Connected mode(cell or URA is known; RRC connection) connected mode c thit lp khi UTRAN thnh lp v duy tr thng tin c nhn ca UE (RRC connection) RRC connection c thnh lp gia UE v Serving RNC UE is ng nhp 1 nhn thc mng tm thi (U-RNTI v CRNTI) c s dng nh UE nhn thc trong knh vn chuyn(RACH, FACH, PCH) connected mode khng yu cu chim 1 ti nguyn knh vt l2.TNG QUAN IDLE MODEKhi UE khi ng, n s chn mng di ng mt t(PLMN) v UE tm cell ph hp trong PLMN cm li. UE qut tt c cc knh v tun band UTRA da trn lu lng ca n tm PLMN sng sng.Ue chn cell c tn hiu mnh nht(da th tc cell searchtrong FDD hay TDD )v c thng tin h thng(SIB) tm cell thuc PLMN no. Nu UE c th c PLMN identity , PLMN c hi p n NAS v cung cp cc iu kin c th: Cho cell FDD, o trn knh P-CPICH Ec/Io v P-CPICH RSCP c ln hn hay bng (tdb)dBmUE c th ti u ha cho cch tm kim ny bng cch lu li thng tin v tn s sng mang,cng nh cc thng tin v cell, code,. CELL SEARCHnh ni, nu UE khng c thng tin sng mang trn UTRAN, UE s qut ht cc tn s d c v tm tn hiu tt nht. (thng xy ra UE mi ng nhp s dng)nu UE c thng tin sng mang h thng,UE s th kt ni ti cell c c thch hp khng, nu khng th s qut tt c tn s tm li.c 3 bc trong

4)cell selection v reselection 4.1)Th tc cell selection/cell reselection: Mc ch: cho php UE tm kim mt cell ph trong PLMN c chn v camp vo n. Qu trnh thc hin cell selection v cell reselectio:

Th tc chn li cell c thc hin khi: + Cell ang phc v cho UE khng cn ph hp.+ UE ang Camped normall thy cell k bn tt hn.+ UE ang Camped on any cell. Mt s khi nim:+ Acceptable cell: cell m UE camp vo nhng ch s dng c mt vi dch v: cuc gi khn cp, EWTS, CMAS.+ Suitable cell: cell m UE camp v s dng c cc dch v bnh thng. Vic la chn cell c thc hin theo hai th tc sau:+ Initial cell selection: th tc ny c thc hin khi khng c thng tin ca cell lu tr PLMN.
