The OAuth 2.0 specification is developed by the OAuth Community and managed internationally through the IETF.

What is it? What is new? Why is it important?OAuth 2 is an open protocol that supports secure API access to data on behalf of a user without

exposing their user id and passwords to third party sites. It provides a consistent model that

bridges on-premise to cloud.

OAuth 2.0 greatly simplifies the process of developing clients that

federate data from third party sites. The latest version includes profiles, authorization flows, and support for web apps, desktop

apps, mobile & living room devices.

OAuth 2.0 is a key security technology for the integration of products both inside & outside

the firewall. Complexity of implementation has been reduced in this version,

improving adoption in the marketplace.

• IBM is a contributor to OAuth, providing expertise to review the security & authorization methods in the latest release.

• Planned implementations include: IBM Lotus Connections next, IBM Lotus Notes/Domino next, WebSphere Base next

• Current implementations include: Tivoli Federated Identity Manager 6.2.2, LotusLive, Google, Yahoo, Twitter, etc.
