Kính thưa: Quý Cha Tuyên Úy Quý Trợ Úy, Trợ Tá, Quý Phụ Huynh, Bảo Trợ Quý Trưởng và Đoàn Sinh các cấp, Trong tâm tình hân hoan và qua Bản tin Hướng Tâm Lên này, tôi trân trọng gửi đến quý

Cha, quý Vị, quý Trưởng và quý Đoàn Sinh các cấp lời cầu chúc bình an của Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể. Phụng vụ Lời Chúa của lễ Mình Máu Thánh Chúa năm nay mời gọi chúng ta suy niệm với chủ đề: “Ai ăn thịt và uống máu ta, thì được sự sống muôn đời.” (Ga 6,54). Sự sống đời đời hay “Trường sinh bất tử”, là một trong những khát vọng lớn nhất của con người ở mọi thời đại. Con người đã tiêu tốn không biết bao nhiêu của cải, sức lực và trí tuệ để mong sẽ tìm ra một phương thức khả dĩ giúp con người được trường sinh. Thế nhưng, cho đến nay vẫn chỉ là một niềm mong ước và con người vẫn còn bất lực và bó tay trước cái chết. Thế nhưng, Lời Chúa đã cho chúng ta cái tưởng chừng như không thể thì bây giờ lại có thể. Mình và Máu Chúa Kitô đã đáp ứng được khát vọng sống mãi của con người và là Lương Thực Trường Sinh, đúng như Lời Chúa phán: “Ai ăn thịt và uống máu ta, thì được sự sống muôn đời”. Vậy mỗi người Kitô hữu, cách riêng mỗi người Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể chúng ta quả thật là hạnh phúc vì được Chúa Giêsu yêu thương và hiến thân mình làm tấm bánh bẻ ra để nuôi sống chúng ta. Tấm bánh đó không gì khác hơn chính là Thịt và Máu Chúa Kitô. Như vậy từng người chúng ta được mời gọi cung kính, mến yêu và siêng năng rước lấy Mình và Máu Thánh Ngài để được sự sống đời đời. Với tâm tình trên, tôi hân hoan chúc Mừng Lễ Bổn Mạng đến từng thành viên của Phong Trào, cách riêng với từng Tuyên Úy, Trợ Úy, Trợ Tá, Phụ Huynh, Bảo Trợ và Huynh Trưởng. Đồng thời, tôi cũng tha thiết kêu mời từng thành viên hãy cử hành Lễ Bổn Mạng bằng tâm tình biết ơn, khiêm tốn để tôn thờ và được nuôi duỡng thực sự bằng chính Mình Máu Thánh của Ngài để chính chúng ta có sự sống đời đời. Xin Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể tiếp tục hướng dẫn và nuôi dưỡng từng thành viên và toàn thể Phong Trào cũng được nuôi dưỡng bằng chính Mình Máu của Ngài để chúng ta phát triển và mạnh bước làm nhân chứng cho giới trẻ Việt Nam trong tình yêu mến Chúa Thánhh Thể và làm tông đồ cho Chúa ngày một vững mạnh hơn. Kế đến tôi cũng xin kêu gọi mọi người hướng lòng để cầu nguyện cho: những sinh họat Mùa Hè của Phong trào, cụ thể là những Sa Mạc Huấn Luyên Huynh Trưởng Các Cấp, việc phổ biến và thi hành Qui Chế Huấn Luyện Phục Vụ đang được tu chính. Với Giáo Hội Hoàn Vũ, chúng ta cùng hướng lòng về Đại Hội Giới Trẻ Thế Giới được tổ chức tại Madrid, Spain từ 16-21 tháng Tám năm 2011. Chúng ta cùng cầu xin cho các bạn trẻ trên thế giới khi gặp nhau bên Đức Thánh Cha cũng được gặp chính Chúa Giêsu nơi bí tích Thánh Thể để họ được nuôi dưỡng bằng chính ‘Bánh Bởi Trời’ và có được sự sống muôn đời. Nguyện xin Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể, vị Huynh Trưởng tối cao của Phong Trào luôn tiếp tục hướng dẫn, thánh hóa và chúc lành cho chúng ta luôn mãi. Letter from the General Chaplain

Dearest Chaplains Chaplain Assistants Parents and Benefactors Youth-Leaders and Youth Members of all ranks With the spirit of joy and through this Hướng Tâm Lên newsletter, I respectfully wish all

Chaplains, Youth Leaders, and Youth Members of all levels peace and love in the our Lord Jesus the Eucharist. The Liturgy of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ this year invites us to contemplate on the theme: “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life” (Jn 6:54). Eternal life or “eternity” is one of the greatest aspirations of people of all time. People have spent countless wealth, strength and wisdom in the search to find an attainable approach to help them live an eternal life. Up until now, it is still only a desire and people remain power-less and consequently, surrendered before death. However, the Word of God has given us the seemingly impossible, possible. The Body and Blood of Christ have responded to our aspirations to live an eternal life and our main source, Food of Life. As the Lord has said: “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.” Therefore, for each and every Christian, especially each Eucharistic youth member, we are indeed blessed to have Jesus’ love and his ever-lasting devotion presented in the broken bread to nourish our souls; the bread, which is nothing more than the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ. As such, each and everyone one of us is called to respect, love and earnestly receive the Body and Blood of Christ to sustain an eternal life. With the aforementioned sentiments, I joyfully congratulate all TNTT members, especially all Chaplains, Chaplains As-sistants, Clergymen, Parents, and Youth Leaders. At the same time, I earnestly invite each member to united in the cele-bration of the Mass with gratitude, humility to worship and to be truthfully nurtured and nourished by the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. I pray that the Jesus in the Eucharistic continues to guide and nurture each member as well as the VEYS so that we can grow and step up as witnesses and apostles for Vietnamese Youths through the love of the Jesus in the Eucharist. Subsequently, I gracefully invite each member to wholeheartedly devote your prayers towards: the summer activities and events of the VEYS, namely the Youth Leader Training Camps of all levels, the dissemination and implementation of the Servant Leader Training Manual currently being amended. In unity with the Church around the world, I encourage everyone to aimlessly pray for the World Youth Day, held in Madrid, Spain from August 16-21, 2011. Together, we pray for the youths of the world, when gather in the presence of Pope Benedict XVI, they will also meet with Jesus in the Eucharist so that they can be nourished by the “Bread of Heaven” and ultimately to have an eternal life. May the Christ in the Eucharist, our Ultimate Youth Leader, eternally bless us with love, guide us with truth, and sanctify us with grace. Tâm Tình Phó Tổng Tuyên Úy Quản Trị

Ở một trại cải huấn dưới tuổi thành niên (Juvenile Detention Center) tại vùng Chicago có khoảng 1500 trẻ em hầu hết là người da đen. Các em bị đi tù vì nhiều thứ tội khác nhau như tham gia băng đảng, ăn cắp, bán thuốc phiện, giết người …. Có em mới 13 tuổi đã bị bắt vì cầm súng bắn người. Một hôm vị Tuyên Úy đến thăm tù nhìn thấy một em là người Việt Nam duy nhất tên T. Em T. được 15 tuổi và bị bắt vì tham gia trong một nhóm băng đảng. Gặp vị Tuyên Úy em tỏ vẻ vui mừng chào đón cách niềm nở khác

hẳn với lúc em gặp cảnh sát. Sau khi tìm hiểu vể gia đình và tội phạm của em, em móc trong túi ra một tờ giấy nhỏ, nhăn nhó rồi đưa cho vị Tuyên Úy. Tờ giấy đó ghi lại một tin nhắn rất ngắn gọn và lời văn đứt khúc vì do một em trẻ tuổi khác ghi lại lời nhắn đó. Khi trao cho vị Tuyên Úy tờ giấy, em trai giải thích là tuần trước em gọi về nhà để kêu mẹ đem một cái quần dài khi đi thăm em. Khi gọi điện thoại về nhà, người mẹ đi vắng. Vì thế, người em gái ghi lại tin nhắn trên một tờ giấy bị xé mất xéo một góc và ghi lại ý chính “Anh T. kêu đem quần dài cho anh.” Khi vô thăm con, người mẹ mang quần và cả tờ giấy trao cho người con. Quần thì em dùng thường xuyên không có gì đáng nói. Nhưng tờ giấy còn quan trọng hơn cái quần em cần. Em giữ tờ giấy nhắn tin trong túi mãi. Em nói với vị Tuyên Úy là những giòng chữ và lời nhắn ấy thật gần gủi với em. Không bao giờ tờ giấy nhắn tin xa rời em. Em trân trọng và quý mến lời nhắn đó lắm! Mỗi lần nhìn lời nhắn ấy, em cảm thấy vui và được an ủi. Tờ giấy đó mang lại cho em sức sống trong cảnh tù đày cô đơn. Các bạn thân mến! chỉ một tờ giấy đơn sơ với một lời nhắn liên quan đến cái quần mặc trong người mà mang lại niềm vui và sức sống cho em T. trong cảnh cô đơn trống vắng. Cha nghĩ trong cuộc đời của các bạn đang nhận biết bao lời nhắn còn quan trọng hơn cái quần nữa, nhưng hình như không mang lại niềm vui và sức sống cho các bạn phải không? Hằng ngày bạn dùng text message rất nhiều lần, nhưng có message nào làm cho bạn tăng thêm niềm vui và sức sống không? Tuy không bị ở tù như em T., nhưng trong đời sống thường ngày cũng mang lại cho cá nhân của mỗi người cảnh cô đơn trống vắng phải không? Vậy trong sự trống vắng và cô đơn đó, bạn tìm thấy lời nhắn nào để an ủi và cho bạn niềm vui và sức sống hay không? Nếu có, thì tốt cho bạn. Cha cùng vui với bạn. Còn nếu chưa có thì cha mời bạn đọc lời nhắn quan trọng này nhé. “Ta là bánh hằng sống từ trời xuống. Ai ăn bánh này, sẽ sống đời đời. Và bánh Ta sẽ ban, chính là thịt Ta, để cho thế gian được sống.” (Ga 6:51) Lời nhắn này quan trọng hơn lời nhắn cái quần dài phải không bạn? Cái quần dài có thể bị mất cắp hay bị rách. Nhưng bánh Chúa hứa ban sẽ cho chúng ta sự sống đời đời, không sợ ai đánh cắp hoặc bị hư nát được. Hôm nay là Lễ Kính Mình Máu Thánh Chúa Kitô, là bổn mạng của Phong Trào Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể Việt Nam. Cha mượn lời của Chúa Giêsu để gửi lời nhắn cho bạn. Lời nhắn này chắc chắn mang lại cho bạn niềm an ủi và sức sống trong cuộc sống hằng ngày, nhất là những giây phút bạn cảm thấy cô đơn, trống vắng, thất vọng. Mình và Máu Chúa là nguồn ban phát sức sống cho mọi người biết chạy đến với Thánh Thể. Vì thế bạn đừng ham chạy theo đám đông để múc lấy tiền của, danh vọng, vui chơi thể xác. Những thứ ấy chỉ có hấp dẫn bề ngoài nhưng không mang cho bạn niềm vui thật sự đâu. Chỉ có Mình và Máu Chúa mới là niềm vui và sức sống thât sự. Thử nghĩ lại coi có đúng không? Phong trào TNTT/VN tại Hoa Kỳ đã và đang trải qua bao nhiêu là thử thách khó khăn kể từ ngày được tạo dựng. Những thử thách đó không hẳn do tác động xã hội bên ngoài mà thôi, nhưng còn do chính nội bộ gây ra như ganh tị, hiểu lầm và gây đau khổ cho nhau. Thế nhưng, nhờ lãnh nhận Mình và Máu Chúa qua Bí Tích Thánh Thể mà anh chị em trong phong trào vẫn còn thương yêu nhau. Dù sao anh chị em vẩn có chung một dòng Máu Chúa Thánh Thể trong tim. Chưa thấy ai trong phong trào gây ra tội phạm cho phong trào như em T. trong trại cải huấn.. Đó là niềm vui cho phong trào. Một cái nhìn rõ rệt hơn nữa, Mình và Máu Chúa đã nuôi dưỡng và ban sức sống dồi dào cho rất nhiều bạn trẻ trong phong trào từ ngày phong trào được gầy dựng trên mảnh đất Hoa Kỳ. Chính vì thế, các em trẻ có mang chiếc khăn quàng TNTT trên vai được bào vệ và che chở đỡ phải lâm cảnh tù đày như em T. Ngược lại, người TNTT được trao ban cho một sức sống siêu nhiên vui vẻ lạ thường. Trong tâm tình mừng lễ quan thầy của Phong Trào, Cha mời gọi mỗi người cùng cảm tạ Chúa vì Ngài đã ban cho chúng ta chính Mình và Máu Ngài. Xin cho mỗi người được gia tăng lòng yêu mến Chúa khi lãnh nhận Mình và Máu Chúa. Xin cho mỗi người biết quý trọng và luôn luôn ghi nhớ lời nhắn quan trọng này trọng tâm trí “Ta là bánh hằng sống từ trời xuống. Ai ăn bánh này, sẽ sống đời. Và bánh Ta sẽ ban, chính là thịt Ta, để cho thế gian được sống.” (Mt 6:51)

From the Assistant General Chaplain of Administrative Affairs

At a Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago, there were about 1500 children, mostly African Americans. They were sent to jail for many crimes such as gang involvement, theft, abusing illegal substances, mur-der…There was a 13 years old child who was arrested for firing a gun. One day, a Chaplain visited the prison and met the only Vietnamese youth named T. T was 15 years old and was arrested for participating in a gang. T was overjoyed and greeted the Chaplain with a warm welcome, in contrast to how T would

have behaved when interacting with the police. After uncovering T’s family and T’s crime, T took out a small piece of paper, grim-aced then handed it to the Chaplain; a short and simple message filled with grammatical errors written by another youth. When giv-ing the message to the Chaplain, the young boy explained that he called home the previous week and requested his mother to bring him a pair of pants when coming to visit him. However, the mother was away when he called home. So the young girl recorded the message on a slanted piece of paper torn at the corner “Brother T. called to bring him a pair of pants.” When designing the visitation, the mother brought the son clothes and a letter. His pant was used regularly, therefore it’s nothing compared to the letter that he received, which he kept in his pocket at all times. T shared to the Chaplain that the words and message were filled with intimacy to him, which will never leave his side. He deeply appreciated and loved the message! Every time he sees the message, he is filled with joy and comfort; a paper that gave him life while in captivity. Dear friends! Just a piece of paper along with a simple message in relation to a pair of pants brought joy and vitality to T. during the time of loneliness. I believe that in your life, you are fully aware that there are more important messages than that of a pair of pants, but did they bring you joy and vitality? Each day, you endlessly use text messages, but were there any messages that helped you enhanced joy and vitality? Though we are not imprisoned, but in our daily lives, do we often feel lonely and empty? So, through the loneli- ness and emptiness, were you able to discover any messages to help comfort and give you joy and vitality? If yes, that’s fantastic. I am happy for you. If not, I invite you to read the en- closed important message. “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." (Jn 6:51). Is this message more important than a pair of pants? The pants can be stolen or ripped but the bread that Jesus promised will give us eternal life, do not be afraid for it to be stolen or ripped. Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, the patron of the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Society. I would like to utilize Jesus’ Words to draw forth a message to you. This message will surely bring you comfort and vitality to your everyday life, especially during the moments you feel most lonely, empty, and in despair. The Body and Blood of Christ is the source of life for people to faithfully open their arms to the Eucharist, so I urge you not to run towards the crowd of greed, fame, and physical temptation. These temptations are only of superficial attractions and they do not award you with genuine pleasure. Only the Body and Blood of Christ give you the joy and truth of life. Do you think it is true? The Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Society in the U.S.A. has been and currently experiencing many challenges after its establishment. These chal-lenges are not necessarily due to outside social works but mostly internal conflicts such as jealousy, misunderstandings and suffer-ings caused to each other. However, in receiving the Body and Blood of Christ through the Eucharist, we brothers and sisters of the VEYS still love one another and are unify as one family. In addition, we as one family, carries the same blood flow in the heart of the Eucharist. We are fortunate to have not yet encountered incidents similar to T at the youth camp. It is an honorable blessing to the VEYS. With a brighter view, the Body and Blood of Christ nourished and provided youths the abundant of life since the day the VEYS was established in the U.S. As that, the youths carried over their shoulder a scarf of TNTT to protect them from tragedies such as T’s. In accord with the celebration of the patron of the VEYS, I encourage and invite everyone to thank God for He has given us His own Body and Blood. May each of us overflow our love for God when receiving His Body and Blood. May each of us passionately treasure and forever hold this important message as a remembrance that: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; who-ever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." Kính thăm quý cha Tuyên Uý, quý Trợ Uý, Trợ Tá, Phụ Huynh, Huynh Trưởng và các em Đoàn Sinh Các Cấp Cùng với toàn thể Phong Trào – Chúng con, Ban Nghiên Huấn (BNH) – Hân hoan chúc mừng lễ bổn mạng của chúng ta – Lễ Mình và Máu Thánh Chúa Kitô!

Con/tôi xin được chia sẻ vào thông tin về BNH để mọi người rõ! 1. Tên gọi: Từ khi cuốn Nội Quy 2009 được Hội Đồng Lãnh Đạo chấp nhận và Ấn Hành, BNH không còn có tên là BNH Trung Ương nữa – vì bây giờ chỉ còn có một BNH – các Miền không còn BNH! 2. Quy Chế Huấn Luyện (QCHL): QCHL cần phải thay đổi để hợp với một số thay đổi của Nội Quy – BNH đã thành lập ban Tu Chính – và sau hai năm làm việc qua email, các buổi họp viễn liên – BNH đã họp từ ngày thứ Năm, 28 tháng 4 đến thứ Bảy, 30 tháng tư tại Atlanta, GA để duyệt phiên bản cuối cùng! Hiện nay chúng tôi đang xem xét lại các lỗi chính tả và sẽ cho công bố sớm! 3. Sa Mạc Huấn Luyện (SMHL): BNH vẫn theo dõi và cầu nguyện cho các SMHL các cấp tại các Miền/Liên Đoàn! Cũng chúc mừng cho hai SMHL Huấn Luyện Huynh Trưởng Cao Cấp – Tibêria 1 và 2 do ban Chấp Hành Trung Ương tổ chức và Huấn Luyện rất thành công – với hơn 100 Sa Mạc Sinh đầy đủ 8 miền và cả Canada! Hai Sa Mạc Sinai 17 và 18 – Huấn Luyện Viên Trung Sơ Cấp và Trong Cấp do Ban Chấp Hành Trung Ương tổ chức và BNH huấn luyện sẽ diễn ra trong 5 ngày – 16-21 tháng 8 sẽ diễn ra tại Escondido! Xin quý cha và quý thành viên thêm lời cầu nguyện! Thay mặt Ban Nghiên Huấn, nguyện chúc quý cha và quý thành viên ngày lễ bổn mạng tràn đầy hồng ân của Chúa Thánh Thể và Mùa Huấn Luyện tốt đẹp!

From the Assistant General Chaplain of Academic Affairs

Dearest Chaplains, Chaplain Assistants, Parents, Youth-Leaders and Youth members of all ranks:

In unity with the VEYS, we, the Research Training Committee, joyfully con-gratulate the VEY’s patronage, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ!

I would like to share with you the latest news in regards to the Academic Committee: 1. Naming: In accordance to the 2009 Policy, accepted and published, the Academic Committee (Ban Nghiên Huấn) is no longer called the National Academic Committee (Ban Nghiên Huấn Trung Ương). We now only have one Academic Committee. Regions no longer have Academic Committee. 2. The Training Manual (Quy Chế Huấn Luyện) - must be amended in accordance with the VEY’s Policy. The Training Manual have already estab-lished an Amendment Committee and after 2 years of numerous meetings through conferences and emails, the Training Manual Committee met from Thursday, April 28 to April 30, 2011 at Atlanta, GA to approve the final version of the Training Manual. We are cur-rently reviewing and modifying minor details and will release the revised version in the near future. 3. Youth Leader Training Camps: The Academic Committee closely monitors and prays for all Train-ing Camps of all levels hosted by Regions/League of Chapters. Bởi thế, qua Thánh Thể, Giáo Hội được thành lập. Qua Mình và Máu Thánh Chúa, Giáo Hội trở nên một, đồng thời, qua sự chết của Ngài, Giáo Hội được mở rộng ra cho thế giới và lịch sử của nhân loại. Trong cuốn sách Giêsu Người Nazareth II, Đức Thánh Cha Benedicto XVI đề cập tới Thánh Thể là một quá trình hiệp nhất. Tại khắp Năm Châu, trên các quốc gia, mọi thành phố và từng nơi địa phương, người Công Giáo đều tham gia và hiệp nhất với Thiên Chúa hằng sống qua Bí Tích Thánh Thể. Do đó Giáo Hội được sức sống, sự thống nhất và sứ mệnh từ Thánh Thể. Phong Trào Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể cũng không khác gì với Giáo Hội Hoàn Vũ. Sức sống, sự thống nhất, hiệp nhất và sứ

mệnh của Phong Trào đều nhờ bởi Thánh Thể. Nếu chúng ta không có Thánh Thể làm trung tâm điểm của mọi hoạt động, sinh hoạt và huấn luyện, e rằng Phong Trào một ngày nào đó sẽ tan vỡ. Trong tâm tình ấy, Ban Chấp Hành Trung Ương tha thiết kêu mời tất cả các thành viên trong Phong Trào cùng đồng lòng hiệp nhất với nhau qua việc Sống Ngày Thánh Thể mỗi ngày một cách siêng năng và thánh thiện. Đồng thời cùng tổ chức những sinh hoạt để dạy và khuyến khích các em thiếu nhi tại nơi địa phương sống Ngày Thánh Thể. Tiện đây, BCHTU xin thông báo Chiến Dịch Rước Lễ Thiêng Liêng mỗi ngày bắt đầu từ ngày Lễ Mình Máu Thánh Chúa tới cuối Tháng Bảy. Xin mỗi thành viên của Phong Trào luôn nhớ đọc kinh Rước Lễ Thiêng Liêng mỗi ngày khi dâng ngày, dâng đêm và mỗi khi cầu nguyện với Thánh Thể. Xin soạn mình và đọc kinh Rước Lễ Thiêng Liêng mỗi ngày ít nhất là một lần.

Dearest Chaplains, Chaplain Assistants Youth-Leader Trainers, Youth-Leaders, Knights of Eucharists and All Seedlings, Search, and Companions On behalf of the National Executive Committee, with our warmest regards and deepest gratitude, we would like to congratulate all Chaplains, Chaplains Assistants, Youth Leaders, and all TNTT Members of all levels a blessed and joyful Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. May the love of the Eucharist forever sends His blessings on each and everyone of you. Many years ago, at the sacred moment when Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper, He also established the Universal Church. With these Words, He said, "This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me…This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you” (Luke 22:19-20). Jesus gave the disciples a new mission that allowed them to bond together and become a community. Therefore, through the Eucharist, the Church was established; through the Body and Blood of Christ, the Church became one; through His death, the Church extends their arms to the world and the history of mankind. In His book, Jesus of Nazareth II, Pope Benedict XVI referred to the Eucharist as a visible process of gathering. In each all continents, nations, cities and all locations, Catholics join and unify with the Living God through the Eucharist. The Church comes into being through the Eucharist. The Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Society is no different than that of the Universal Church. Vitality, unity and the mis-sion of the VEYS were founded upon the Eucharist. If we do not regard the Eucharist as the summit and center of our

operations, events and trainings, regretfully, one day the VEYS will no longer exist. With that spirit, the National Executive Committee earnestly invites all members of the VEYS to ac-tively participate and be in united together through Living the Eucharistic Day, so we may grow stronger in spirit and faith. Simultaneously, we encourage you to organize activities or campaigns to teach and encourage youths to also Live the Eucharistic Day.

In that thought, the National Executive Committee would like to announce its Spiritual Com-munion Campaign. The Campaign will start from the beginning of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ until the end of July. We urge and encourage each member of the VEYS to gracefully recite the Spiritual Communion prayer every day during morning offer-ing, night offering and each time you pray to the Eucharist. Please prepare your soul and recite the Spiritual Communion prayer every day at least once.

Once again, I extend to you my regards and gratitude to all Chaplains, Chaplain Assistants, Youth Leaders Trainers, Youth Leaders, and TNTT members of all levels. May the Christ in the Eucharist, through the intercession of Mary, for-ever keep you and your family under their wings of love, peace, and grace.

Thánh Thể là trung tâm đời sống của người Công Giáo. Bí tích Thánh Thể là đỉnh cao của tình yêu nơi cuộc đời dương thế của Chúa Kitô; qua Bí tích Thánh Thể mạc khải thâm sâu một cách tuyệt vời “Tình yêu cứu độ” của Thiên Chúa thể hiện qua 2 biến cố quan trọng: Bửa Tiệc Ly và Cuộc Khổ Nạn của Chúa Kitô trên Thập Giá. Hai biến cố này kết thành một huyền nhiệm cao cả nhất mà Giáo Hội cử hành mỗi ngày như một tưởng niệm tuyệt vời đồng thời theo đúng lời truyền của Thầy Chí Thánh: “Anh em hãy làm việc này mà nhớ đến Thầy.” (Lc 22,19) Trong Bữa Tiệc Ly: Chúa Giêsu cầm tấm bánh bẻ ra. Tấm bánh được bẻ ra chính là thân mình của Chúa Kitô. Trong Hiến Chế Phụng Vụ Thánh, Giáo Hội trình thuật ý nghĩa vô cùng cao quý của Bí Tích Thánh Thể: “Trong bữa tiệc ly sau hết, Đấng Cứu Độ đã thiết lập Hy Tế Tạ Ơn bằng Mình và Máu Người, để nhờ Hy Tế khổ giá kéo dài qua các thời đại cho tới khi Người lại đến và cũng để ủy thác cho hiền thê yêu quý của Người là Giáo Hội việc tưởng nhớ cái chết và sự sống lại của Người; đây là bí tích tình yêu, dấu chỉ hiệp nhất, mối dây bác ái, bữa tiệc Vượt Qua. “Trong đó chúng ta ăn và uống Mình Máu Thánh Chúa Kitô, được tràn đầy ân sủng, và được bảo đảm vinh quang tương lai.” (PV. 3,16) Thánh Thể là món quà bảo chứng “tình yêu trao ban” của Thiên Chúa cho nhân lọai. “Thiên Chúa yêu thương thế gian đến nỗi đã ban Con Một, để ai tin vào Con của Người thì khỏi phải chết nhưng đựợc sống đời đời. (Ga. 3, 16) Thánh Thể biểu “lộ tình yêu trọn vẹn, yêu đến cùng.” “Trước lễ Vượt Qua, Đức Giêsu biết giờ của Người đã đến, giờ phải lìa bỏ thế gian mà về với Chúa Cha. Người vẫn yêu thương những kẻ còn ở thế gian và Người đã yêu thương họ đến cùng.” (Ga 3,1; Ga 15,13) Yêu thương đến cùng nghĩa là yêu tột bực, yêu trọn vẹn. Tình yêu trọn vẹn này Chúa Giêsu đã thể hiện qua việc Chúa lập Phép Thánh Thể, để từ nay trở thành nơi gặp gỡ giữa Ngài với chúng ta và giữa chúng ta với nhau. Khi lập Phép Thánh Thể, Chúa Giêsu lập với mục đích nuôi dưỡng con người và ban sức mạnh cho dân Người. Chính vì thế mà Ngài thúc dục: “Các con hãy cầm lấy mà ăn, hãy cầm lấy mà uống.” (Mt 26, 26) và Ngài đưa ra phần thưởng: “ai ăn bánh này, sẽ được sống muôn đời.” (Ga:6,58) Sau khi thúc giục và mời gọi, Chúa truyền lệnh cho các tông đồ của Ngài để tiếp tục cử hành bí tích Ngài đã thiết lập và sống

Mầu Nhiệm Thánh Thể, sống mầu nhiệm yêu thương trong cuộc sống hàng ngày. Hy lễ bàn thờ và hy lễ ngòai đời nơi cuộc sống phải liên kết với nhau. Sống đời sống Thánh Thể qua tấm lòng yêu thương nhau, quan tâm giúp đỡ người nghèo, săn sóc người đau yếu, bệnh tật, người đau khổ, cô đơn, thông cảm vị tha với người yếu đuối, tội lỗi và sống bác ái với mọi người. Vì vậy, Bí Tích Thánh Thể còn là Bí Tích của sự chia sẻ. Chúng ta biết rắng Chúa Giêsu lập ra Bí Tích Thánh Thể trong bầu khí thân tình của một bữa ăn từ giả. Tấm bánh Chúa đã cầm và phân chia cho các môn đệ cũng như chén rượu Ngài đã trao cho các môn đệ là để họ cùng ăn cùng uống trong tình huynh đệ và chính việc chia sẻ này được Chúa dùng như dấu chỉ để các môn đệ làm mà nhớ đến Ngài. Cũng vậy, ý thức chia sẻ đòi buộc chúng ta không được đóng khung những buổi cử hành Thánh Thể bên trong nhà thờ, nhưng phải sống mầu nhiệm Thánh Thể, mầu nhiệm yêu thương ngay trong cuộc sống hàng ngày. Chúng ta cũng không cử hành Thánh Thể một cách trung thực nếu chúng ta sống dửng dưng ích kỷ, không quan tâm tới anh chị em chung quanh. Nếu có những người nghèo khó chung quanh, chúng ta hãy chia sẻ, hay cho nhau tình thương, vị tha, bác ái dưới mọi hình thức với hết mọi người. Linh Mục Gioan Nguyễn viết: “Thánh Thể là một bữa tiệc thánh; tiệc do Đấng Chí Thánh, Con Thiên Chúa thiết lập; tiệc dọn của ăn, thức uống hòan tòan Thánh, là Mình Máu Thánh Chúa; tiệc mừng biến cố vô cùng Thánh, là ơn cứu độ. Thánh Thể là một bữa tiệc biến đổi lạ lùng: Thân xác ta trở nên giống thân xác của Chúa Giêsu, linh hồn ta mang những tâm tính của Chúa Giêsu, đời sống của ta trở thành đời sống của Chúa Giêsu, Chúa Giêsu ở trong ta, ta ở trong Chúa Giêsu, Chúa Giêsu làm một với ta và ta làm một với Chúa Giêsu, châm ngôn sống của chúng ta sau khi dự tiệc Thánh Thể là: “Tôi sống nhưng không còn phải là tôi, mà là Đức Kitô sống trong tôi.” (Gl 2, 20) Giáo Hội phải sống bằng Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể. Mọi thành phần trong Giáo Hội phải sống bằng Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể. Mọi gia đình, mọi cộng đòan, đòan thể phải sống bằng Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể. Trong Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể, chúng ta tìm được tất cả: “Tìm được ánh sang, tìm được sức mạnh, tìm đựợc an ủi, tìm được trong sạch, tìm được tình yêu, thánh thiện, quên mình và tìm được vui tươi, hạnh phúc. Đối với người Kitô hữu chúng ta, Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể phải nói lên tất cả, phải chứa đựng tất cả, phải cắt nghĩa tất cả.” Như cá sống trong nước thế nào, người tín hữu chúng ta cần sự sống nơi Thánh Thể của mỗi người như vậy.

The Eucharist is at the heart of Catholic life. The Sacrament of the Eucharist is the summit of love in Jesus Christ’s earthly life; the Sacrament of the Eucharist reveals the profound and great “Salvation through Love” of God, expressed through two important events: The Last Supper and the Passion of Christ on the Cross. These two events form the greatest mystery that the Church celebrates every day, as a great monument and the true tradition of the Divine Master: “Do this in memory of me” (Luke 22:19). During the Last Supper, Jesus Christ holds the broken bread. The broken bread is truly the body of Christ. In the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, the Church defines the noble meaning of the Sacrament of the Eucharist: “At the Last Supper, on the night He was betrayed, our Saviour instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of His Body and Blood. He did this in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the Cross throughout the centuries until He should come again, and so to entrust to His beloved spouse, the Church, a memorial of His death and resurrection; a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a paschal banquet ‘in which Christ is eaten, the heart is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us’” (PV. 3:16). The Eucharist is God’s gift to humanity, a pledge of his ‘self-giving love.’ “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life” (John 3:16). T h e E u c h a r i s t represents the “the complete love, love until the very end.” “Before the feast of Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father. He loved his own in the world and he loved them to the end” (John 13:1). Loving to the end means ultimate love, perfect love. This perfect love expressed by Jesus Christ is conveyed through Christ’s establishment of the Eucharist, so that from then on, it became a meeting place between Him and us, and between each other. When establishing the Eucharist, Jesus Christ established it with the aim of nurturing and providing strength to his people. Thus, he urged us to “Take and eat… Drink from it, all of you” (John

26-27). And he offered: “whoever eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:58). After some urging and inviting, God commands His disciples to continue the celebration of the Sacraments He established, to live the mystery of the Eucharist, and to live the mystery of love in everyday life. We must link the sacrifice of the altar with our daily life. We are able to do so by living the Eucharistic day through love for one another: helping the poor, caring for the weak, the sick, the suffering, and the lonely; sympathizing with altruism for the weak, the sinner; and living a life of compassion for all those around us. By doing so, the Sacrament of the Eucharist continues to be the sacrament of sharing. We know that Jesus Christ established the Sacrament of the Eucharist in the intimate atmosphere of a farewell meal. The bread Jesus held and distributed to the disciples, as well as the cup of wine He gave to them was done so, so that they would eat and drink in the warmth of brotherhood; and in this sharing, God does as a sign to the disciples to do so in remembrance of Him. Additionally, the sense of sharing entails that we do not only celebrate the Eucharist inside the church, rather, to live the mystery of the Eucharist, to live the mystery of love in our everyday life. We do not celebrate the Eucharist honestly when are living a life of selfishness, of indifference to those surrounding us. If there are those around us who are poor, we must share; give each other love, altruism, and charity in all our actions with everybody. Reverend John Nguyễn wrote: “The Eucharist is a holy feast; a party by the most divine the Son of God had established; the setting of food and drinks are all holy, that of Corpus Christi; a celebration of the sacred mystery, of the salvation.” The Eucharist is a banquet involving a strange transformation: our body becomes like the body of Jesus Christ, our souls carries the heart of Jesus Christ, our lives becomes the life of Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ lives in us, and we live in Him. The saying/motto of our life after attending the feast of the Eucharist is: “Yet I live, no long I, but Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20). The Church must live through Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Every component of the Church must live through Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Every family, every community, every organization must live through Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Through Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, we are able to find it all: “Finding light, finding strength, finding comfort, finding purity, finding love, holiness, selflessness and finding joy and happiness. For us Christians, Jesus Christ in the Eucharist should say it all, contain all and explain all.” As the way fish must live in water, the faithful must live in the Eucharist.

In the city of Lanciano, Italy, around the year 700 of Our Lord there was a priest of the order of St. Basil who, though learned in the sciences of the world, was ignorant in ways of God, and was not strong in his faith. He was plagued by a doubt as to whether the consecrated Host was truly the Body of Christ, and the consecrated wine truly His Blood. He had difficulty believing in the mystery of transubstantiation (the miraculous changing of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ).

One morning, as he was celebrating Mass, he had already said the most holy words of consecra-tion ("This is My Body..., This is my Blood..."), as Jesus had taught it to his Apostles, his doubts and errors weighed upon him more heavily than ever. By a most singular and marvelous grace, he saw the Bread changed into Flesh and the wine into Blood.

Frightened and confused by such a great and stupendous Miracle, he stood quite a while as if in a divine ecstasy; but eventually, his fear gave way to the spiritual happiness that filled his soul, and he turned his joyful yet tearful face to those around him, exclaiming "...Behold the Flesh and the blood of our Most Beloved Christ."

At those words, the bystanders ran to the altar and began, with tears, to cry for mercy. The faithful, who, having become witnesses themselves, spread the news throughout the entire city.

Today twelve centuries after the miraculous occurrence it remains intact, a sustained miracle! Upon a superficial examination, the Host of Flesh, which is still in one piece and has retained the dimensions of the original "Large Host", has a fibrous appearance and a brown color, which becomes light-reddish if one places a light in the back of the Ostensorium. The blood, contained in the chalice, has an earthly color, inclined toward the yellow of ocher, and consists of five coagulated glob-ules. Each of the parts is uneven in shape and size, and when weighed together, the total weight is equal to that of each piece. The actual spot of the miracle is located beneath the present day tabernacle of the Church of St. Francis. The Miracle Itself is pre-served in the second tabernacle, which is found in the high altar. The Host, now changed to Flesh, is contained in a silver Mon-strance. The wine, now changed to Blood, is contained in a crystal chalice. Over his lifetime, when He walked on Earth, Jesus performed many miracles to help strengthen the faith of the people who believed in God. Even today after his death and resurrection, He continues to be present with us through the Sacrament of the Eucharist, and over the centuries He has continued to show His power and love for us through many, many Eucharistic miracles. Here is a summary of some of the miracles that are acknowledged and approved by the Catholic Church. LÀM SAO QUÊN ... TIBÊRIA 1? Làm sao quên được, Vì nơi ấy, tôi đã gặp những “Đức Kitô khác” nhẹ nhàng mà sâu lắng, lặng lẽ mà thâm trầm đưa chúng tôi vào chiều sâu của nội tâm với Thánh Lễ Misa hằng ngày và những giờ Chầu Thánh Thể linh thiêng. Không chỉ thế, các ngài còn đồng hành với chúng tôi trên những chặng đường trong hành trình Sa mạc, cùng san sẻ với chúng tôi trong

từng niềm vui, nỗi buồn ... Làm sao quên được, Vì nơi ấy, tôi đã nhìn thấy hình ảnh Chúa Giêsu đang hiện diện thật sống động nơi các Huấn Luyện Viên. Các anh chị đã âm thầm hy sinh, dấn thân và phục vụ các Sa Mạc sinh như chính Chúa Giêsu phục vụ các Tông đồ của Ngài. Không quản đường xá xa xôi, không quan tâm đến những mệt mỏi, bận rộn và lo toan cho cuộc sống của riêng mình, các anh chị đi từ Sa mạc này đến Sa mạc khác để đào tạo cho thế hệ tiếp nối. Tôi còn nhớ những đêm các anh chị gần như thức trắng,

miệt mài chuẩn bị cho những sinh hoạt của ngày hôm sau. Trong từng lời nói và hành động đầy tâm huyết ấy, tôi như đọc được niềm đam mê tông đồ nơi từng Huấn Luyện Viên, và nhìn thấy niềm hy vọng lớn lao mà các anh chị đặt trong từng công việc dành cho các Sa mạc sinh. Tôi chợt nhận ra viễn ảnh tương lai tươi đẹp của

Giáo Hội và của Phong trào Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể vì tôi đã bắt gặp ánh mắt ngỡ ngàng của các bạn tôi trước những

nghĩa cử cao đẹp của các Huấn Luyện Viên. Gương sáng đã đánh thức họ khỏi những mê lầm của cuộc sống. Và tôi biết, chính họ cũng sẽ sống cho

người khác như họ đã nhìn thấy các anh chị đã sống cho họ... Làm sao quên được, Vì nơi ấy, tôi đã cảm nhận được sức mạnh của tuổi trẻ, sự hăng say của những con

người có nhiệt huyết tông đồ, lòng quả cảm của những người trẻ đã dám chọn Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể làm lý tưởng của đời mình. Lòng tôi chan chứa hy vọng vì tôi biết mai đây, khi trở về với xứ đoàn, trong tư cách là người lãnh đạo, các Sa mạc sinh hôm nay sẽ là những người gieo mầm tin yêu cho những tâm hồn nhỏ được trao cho họ. Là men, là muối, họ sẽ làm cho những người trẻ quanh họ được lớn lên trong tình yêu và trong khát vọng dấn thân cho Nước Trời ... Làm sao quên được, Vì nơi ấy, các bạn và tôi đã được trang bị những kỹ năng cần thiết cho vai trò mà chúng tôi đã, đang và sẽ đảm nhận. Nhờ đó, khi trở về với công việc

và chức phận của mình, chúng tôi sẽ tự chủ hơn, nhiệt thành hơn và quảng đại hơn ... Làm sao quên được, Vì nơi ấy chúng tôi đã học và tập sống tình yêu thương gắn bó với nhau. Là Sa mạc Tibêria – mến yêu, 5 ngày sống gần gũi bên bè bạn đến từ những phương trời khác biệt đã cho chúng tôi được nếm cảm tình thương mến thương mà Chúa Giêsu đã được trải nghiệm bên những người bạn thân thương tại Tibêria. Chúng tôi sát cánh bên nhau trong những lúc chiến thắng cũng như khi thất bại, lúc hân hoan cùng khi u buồn, đồng cảm với nhau trong lúc rạng môi cười cũng như khi nước mắt rơi ...

Làm sao quên được, Vì gặp nhau, rồi vội vã lên đường. Dẫu rằng mỗi người đi về một phương nhưng những phúc lành và những giờ phút chứa chan ân tình mà Chúa đã ưu ái dành cho chúng tôi vẫn mãi là hành trang chung mà chúng tôi sẽ mang theo trong suốt đời tông đồ. Làm sao quên được, Vì từng ngày sau, chúng tôi sẽ lại cùng hát lên bài ca cám ơn để tạ ơn Chúa đã đem chúng tôi vào đời nhau.

Journey Through Tiberia II: Understand me for who I am and who I want to become. After a lot of contemplating, I decided to put down in words, the most intimate and personal reflection of the past week on here to share with others; which I have only shared with one person at camp and from camp, thus far. Thank you for allowing me to open up myself to you and listening to my struggles. Before arriving to Sa Mac Tiberia II, I became hesitant and re-served. Although months before, I had no reservation about at-tending HLHT cap III Lãnh Đạo. As the date got closer and closer, I became more worrisome and fearful of attending a train-ing that I did not feel ready for; however, even though, I did not feel ready, I knew there was no harm in attending and the camp would only be beneficial for myself, đoàn, and phong trào. Servant leadership was the main theme of this sa mạc. After the first day, I examined myself, I knew that I must grow in spiritual-

ity, leadership, and so on; if I say that I am a Huynh Truong, I am serv-ing for các em. I need to prepare myself after sa mạc. I need to see where I can change, openness – open minded. This past week, seeing NS, HS, and HT from Đoàn Đồng Hành, put out their time to help out here was a real eye opener because they were a part of 58 SMS and a full staff of Ban Điều Hành, who put lots of time out of their busy life to be here with us. Two people who helped

out with Phụng Vụ really stood out for me this past week, em Giúp Lễ (I wish I knew his name) and em Kevin (who played piano for us for all the masses). I have not seen such dedication in helping out with Thánh Lễ for so long. I am glad I knew some peo-ple before I entered sa mạc - Nancy, Adam, Henry, Long, etc. who encourage me to follow through with the sa mạc. On Tuesday, in Denver, I was about to ask customer service for the first flight back to Orange County. I was very ada-mant about that, but I'm glad I didn't pursue that path now. This HLHT cap III required and still require a lot of soul searching. I feel that at this time, I'm at my deepest struggles and certain downfalls, which turned me away from sa mạc. Is it authentic and honest, of my feelings? What is love? What are you (I) willing to give? Pay less, give more. Could I possibly grow if I don't open up myself. After adoration on Wednesday night, it changed some of my perspectives on everything that has been going on, then being in Cha Thi's khóa about adoration, it made me reevaluate a lot off my personal beings. I knew at that moment, I didn't care as much as I know I should, but my heart was no longer in the moment and in its place. My heart and soul was not ready pre-camp and it may have been on the condition that I did not take the time to prepare myself. More and more into sa

that I am missing a combination of things. I did not know the Viet-namese culture like they did, ca hát của Vietnam, Phong Trào, and Sinh hoạt like they did. I felt incompetent among those HTs. How could one feel so alone and out of place when there are more than 70 people around. I initially felt that there was no one I could really talk to or open up to. I was there in front of the Eucharist to seek for peace. How could I feel hurt and empty inside, when I did not know the reason for it, and I did not see a reason for it. Even though what is going on in my life is not what I wish to have. It was more than most other have encountered. I can't complain about the situation that I have been placed in but only learn from it and share with others on how it made me a better person. I only hope that it would make me a better person. I pray, I need guidance from you O' Lord. Please help me reflect on it,

The one that I saw that I could speak to and trust was Adam because of the relationship that I built at when I jour-neyed through in Wisconsin - HLHT cap II HS with him. After I asked I can speak to him, at a later time, I felt nervous and scared for past judgment and not being to be authentic in my feelings. Its been a while since I've been close to someone and haven’t let anyone in my life. I was about to share what I've been feeling since I became a HT. There has been a lot of strug-gles that I have gone through. Things I have never told or talked to anyone from either Đoàn I served in. It’s nerve racking to do something

like that, when you come and confide someone outside of that comfort zone. Although at that moment, I felt like at my Đoàn, in my personal life, I no longer have that comfort zone, and that place I can just go to. I think we need to work on ourselves first than we are able to serve others - which went along with Lãnh Đạo Phục Vụ. I no longer want to feel helpless and hopeless be-cause I can't do anything. I want to be able to help out. That’s one of the rea-son why I can't say no. Even when I know it may end up hurting me in the end. That’s why previously, I have been burned out. Pray --> plan --> exe-cute. Try living life with a fruit again, fruit of the Holy Spirit. Try to learn with an open heart, surrender all of my worries up to Jesus. Let him help me carry my cross since I know I would fall without His support. If I need to get up, I need to reach out to Jesus and others who I know can help me. I need to find the bond and that sense of community again.

Communication is important. A fear that many may have is the fear of abandonment. Espe-cially in the ones you trust most. That’s one of the reason why I'm hesitant to trust because I feel fearful of that. I've been abandoned by those that I trust and love. Trust needs to be earned

and its not just given out freely. To step out of your comfort and trust something that is part of the unknown. When you trust someone and let them into your life, and that person walked out of your life, you feel as a part of you is gone with them. That is why sometimes it goes with the abandonment as well as someone leaving your life. There are many instances in my life where someone walked out of my life when I needed them the most. This walking out typi-cally happens when I'm at my lowest point of my life. Can I solely rely on Christ or could I also rely on other? To be a good HT, it means that one needs to Sống Ngày Thánh Thể- Living the Eucharistic Day (remembered this from HLV DVD). A daily life that includes morning prayer, bible read-ing, spiritual communion, sacrifice, night offering, etc. As well as a regular schedule of con-fession and adoration. The Rosary is a powerful tool in a Catholic's life. If I am able to use the Eucha-

rist as an application in my daily routine, I can have a better spiritual life. I don't want to be considered hypocritical when my đoàn sinh viewed me by the actions I made and the words I said. I don't have the strength right now to be in the spiritual place that I would like to be at. The series of events to the daily inter-ferences and temptations that is faced become obstacles that are in the way to live the spiritual life I want. At this moment, I have the desire to improve and be honest. I am no longer denying it so maybe now I can actually live the way I want to. Sometimes the greatest help someone can give is an open ear and heart. Not necessarily advice to go through daily struggles. But just listening to understand what direction they are coming from. That shows true compassion and no self-

gain because they remove them-selves away from the equation. That's the greatest help there is. Adam told me that he didn’t give the greatest advice, but that wasn't what I was looking for. I needed someone that I could trust and someone who was willing to listen to me. He really hy sinh his time to just come out and listen. And I appreciated that from the bottom of my heart. He helped me con-quered some of my fears that night. This night reminded me when I was with Cha Vũ a few years back at the same exact place. That gave me comfort. On another note, we were surprised with adoration late at night. That became the ultimate moment of the camp for me. It was ultimately refreshing. To see all of the SMS praised and adored late at night made me want to continue having that in my daily life. It was a nice to see that các trưởng prayed with each other regardless of what time it was. Lãnh Đạo Phục Vụ – Servant Leadership. You need to be able to serve first, then lead. In order for you lead, you must be able to serve. I saw that this was something I needed to work

on. Describing it is a lot easier than actually putting it into practice. I will try to become a better Catholic first, then a HT later. I need to find myself and what is my strengths and weaknesses. At conclusion, I learned a lot about myself and what I can do to improve myself as a HT. As well as what I was lacking as . I realized, I need Jesus in my life day. Not only sống Ngày Thánh Thể at sa mạc but as well incor-porate it into my daily life. I need to pray daily, seek adoration consistently, and receive spiritual community daily. I will read the bible daily before I start my day at work. I will thank God for the night before and pray to God to watch over me over the day. Pray to Mary, Mother of God for the power and strength against temptation and for the virtue of chastity. Overall, try to SNTT everyday. I will help out TNTTSP as much as I can. Scholarship! “Youth Leader of the Year” Scholarship 2011

The Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Society (VEYS) is proud to announce a $1000.00 scholarship to one role model Youth-Leader who exemplifies exceptional leadership abilities at his/her local Chapter through the practical integration of PRAYERS, THE HOLY EUCHARIST, ACTS of SACRIFICE, and APOSTOLIC SERVICES in his/her works with youths. With the support of this scholarship, the recipient can devote additional time to pursue an activity, project, spiritual retreat, training camp, or a national conference of interest that will enable the growth and development in leadership aptitude. All interested and qualified Youth-Leaders are encouraged to apply. Eligibility: Applicant must be a U.S. resident, an active VEYS member for the past year, and is a certified Eucharistic YouthLeader in good standing at the time of application submission. Only ONE award or scholarship can be won through VEYS each year. Members of the National Executive Committee may not apply. How to Apply: *Submit a cover page with your Saint name, full name, name of your Region, name of your local Chapter, contact phone number, and a valid email address. *Submit a clear copy of your driver’s license or a government issued photo identification. *Submit a verification letter of “good standing” and “1 year of active VEYS involvement” with signatures from the Chapter’s President and Chaplain. *Submit a copy of the official Eucharistic Youth-Leader certification *Type and submit an essay (no more than 2000 words; English or Vietnamese) stating why you think you deserve this Youth-Leader of the Year Scholarship-2011. One Huynh Trưởng that I have known most of my life popped into my head when I thought about a Super Huynh Trưởng. He is a person I have considered to be my role model in TNTT and in life — Huấn Luyện Viên Augustinô Trần Đăng Duy.

After contemplating about what makes a Huynh Trưởng and what type of responsibilities they hold, it can be interpreted in many ways. One may describe a Huynh Trưởng as someone who goes to Sinh Hoạt whenever they feel like it or is consistent, or who helps out with Sa Mac Hè, etc. It’s all up to the eye of the beholder. Maybe it’s just me, and how I see Huynh Trưởng these days to be.

Tr. Duy is a role model for all Huynh Trưởng to look up to as the ideal Huynh Trưởng. He is someone I can rely on or talk to through many difficulties that I may encounter in life. I see Jesus Christ in him through his roles in Đoàn, Liên Đoàn, and Cộng Đoàn. Although he has turned down nominations and elected positions numerous times, he still puts his whole heart into his work. He is truly an inspiration and a foundation of LDNS, MTN.
