Ed van der Elsken's audio documentation is one of the few remaining pieces of Tokyo Symphony. It contains the only clue about van der Elsken's ambitions in regards to this audio visual installation. A comment about the audio footage gives away that van der Elsken was apt to make a soundtrack - an "independant real sound music, that can also be enjoyed without images". This approach of a real audio composition is fundamentally different from previous audio visual arrangements of van der Elsken. It also indicates the unique position this installation was supposed to have in comparison to van der Elsken's other oevre. The audio documentation The documentation contains notes about the audio fragments as well as comments on the motives and locations Van der Elsken travelled to to "hunt" for motives.
