Introduction

What is Matter? Matter is anything that takes up space and has mass. Mass is the amount of matter that takes up an object. There are 3 states of matter they are the Solid, Liquid and gas. Scientists identify matter by their properties.

Examples: salt, sugar, and rust

Each elements loses its property when combined

The mass of the object stays the same

Heat energy and the loss of heat energy causes matter to change state

Involves energy either takes in or gives off energy
