Effective and Safe Skin Care to Pamper You while Giving Back to Our Community

Did you know that women and men spend bil-lions of dollars each year on anti-aging skin prod-ucts? Take a look on your bathroom shelves – do you have a number of products that you tried and just weren’t right for you?

The products that you can buy over-the-counter often contain preservatives such as paraben that are currently illegal in Eu-rope. These products also don’t contain enough active ingredi-ents to do anything more than moisturize your skin. If you want to see a difference with topical products you should purchase products from a medical doctor with skincare expertise.

Balisimo Salon and Medspa features the organic, doctor-directed skin line KCMD. These paraben free products provide the most ad-vanced ingredients for anti-aging. A skincare consultation can help you achieve the results you desire by combining these products with prescriptives such as Retin A and injectables like

Botox and dermal fillers. But you won’t have to feel guilty about pam-

pering yourself, all proceeds from KCMD are di-rected to a non-profit foundation - Lets Face It Together – to help others in the community who are uninsured or underinsured and need medical and/or surgi-cal care. From cancer, to autoim-mune diseases or post-traumatic ocular to facial alterations—Lets Face It Together strives to bridge the inequity within our community, by putting the care back into healthcare starting

from the neck up. You can also purchase your refills on line at YourSkinSpace.com

Away from Home for the Holidays?

Palo Alto residents have had local con-trol over their electric, natural gas, water and sewer utilities for over 100 years! Owned by the Palo Alto commu-nity, the City of Palo Utilities Department (CPAU) serves residents and businesses alike, providing fair rates, superior infrastructure and prompt service

from field crews as well as our Customer Service Center staff. CPAU programs and services focus on meeting specific Palo Alto needs.

This holiday season, CPAU encourages you to buy from the heart and remember that gift giving does make a difference. When buying cool new electronics, think about their long-term costs. Electronics play an increasingly larger role in your home’s energy consumption---about 15% of household electricity use. Some televisions use more electricity than a refrig-erator! Create a beautiful custom closet system to match your needs, desires and budget.

Closet Design Process Our custom closet design process all begins with

our free in-home closet design consultation with our highly-trained closet designer.

Then, we measure your space and everything that will go into your custom closet design. Next we share our custom closet design ideas and match them up to your needs, desires, and budget.

Closet Factory offers you your choice of materi-als and makes suggestions for just the right options and accessories that will make your closet design perfect for you.

Custom ManufacturingEach job is individually manufactured from the

design you approve. Then, our craftsmen go to work using our state-of-the-art machinery, fabri-cating each part to meet the exact specifications of your design. From cutting to finishing to assembly to inspection, everything is done with the utmost care to ensure quality, quantity, and cleanliness.

InstallationThe final step is a quick, clean installation of your

immaculate new dream closet, garage, home of-fice, entertainment center, pantry, laundry room or

other unit. Since all of the manufacturing and most of the finishing is done in our factory, installation takes from one to just a few days. This also means there’s not a lot of cutting, sanding or other messy construction going on in your home.

Our Installers always give the utmost consid-eration to you, your family and your home. Plus, you can rest easy knowing that the entire Closet Factory team is never more than a phone call away and ready to handle any last minute questions. I am proud to offer nothing but the highest quality and service. I look forward to sending out one of my long time design staff to work with you and create a beautiful custom closet or home orga-nizer system. - Uri Rosenberg, CEO Closet Factory San Francisco Bay Area

Best selection of Trollbeads in the Bay Area!

Facing Up to The Holidays The Holiday Season, filled with celebrations

and events, is often followed by the setting of New Year’s resolutions for how we take care of our bodies, face and skin. Whether it’s a treat you’ve just decided to give yourself or something you’ve been considering for a while, a few simple things can reduce the signs of aging.

Dr. Jill Hessler, a double board certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, states that, “The eyes are generally the first place to display signs of aging.” Fortunately, there are a wide vari-ety of treatments available. Botox works very well to erase the crow’s feet and lines between the eyebrows. Lasers and chemical peels can smooth the skin when deeper lines are present, as well as remove signs of sun damage. When under-eye bags are present, surgery is your best option, Dr. Hessler explains.

Dr. Hessler received her training at the Uni-versity of Michigan and was on the faculty at the Washington University School of Medicine be-fore moving to the Bay Area to start her practice in Palo Alto. Among numerous honors, she was selected again by her peers as one of the “Best Doctors in America.” She also serves as director of an international course on rhinoplasty, in-structing surgeons on the art of aesthetic nose surgery, and teaches at additional courses on aging face. She has extensive experience in all aspects of facial plastic surgery, including eyelid surgery, facelift, rhinoplasty and browlift. She is excited to offer her experience and expertise to private clients in the discreet setting of the newly built Palo Alto office and surgery center at Premier Plastic Surgery.

Now is the time to visit Dr. Hessler for your individualized consultation to get you ready for those upcoming holiday events!

Donate Blood for the Holidays

Casey Rockey was diagnosed with a heart condition at six months old and underwent open-heart surgery at age three.

Casey’s mom, Deborah, remembers feeling anxious about his surgery but was touched by the number of people who volunteered to give blood. “I was reminded that the blood donors are all individuals who volunteer their time to help those in the community and that really put me at ease.”

Casey hasn’t let his heart problems slow him down. The multi-talented young man, now 12, plays piano, violin, and trumpet, and is pas-sionate about sports. Says his proud mother, “He’s alive today because of blood donors.”

Campo Pizzeria – Palo Alto

Campo Pizzeria is a delicious new destina-tion specializing in thin-crust artisan pizza, handmade pasta, and a fresh mozzarella bar. The menu features simple, rustic Italian dishes served in a casual, energetic atmosphere. Re-claimed wood tables, vintage furniture and fix-tures, and a large, curved, Italian marble bar con-vey a modern eatery with a rustic Tuscan spirit.

The kitchen is led by the highly acclaimed Executive Chef, Sean O’Brien, named “Best New Chef” by Food & Wine Magazine. O’Brien’s career spans nearly two decades, working at leading Bay Area restaurants including Myth, Gary Danko, Acquerello, The Dining Room at the Ritz Carlton, Viognier, Fifth Floor and his very own Michelin-recommended Zinnia. Campo, which translates to “field” in Italian, represents the chefs “field-to-table” approach for sourcing only the freshest menu ingredients. The 140-seat restaurant serves lunch and dinner seven days a week, and is scheduled to open Novem-ber 2012.

IT’S TRUE. Some televisions use more than 650 kilowatt hours of electricity per year—costing you about $75 annually. Some high definition televisions with a 40-inch or larger screen use more electricity than even a typical refrigerator.* *per Natural Resources Defense Council.

Tips for saving money with electronics:

Buy ENERGY STAR® rated equipment. Tablets and laptops use less energy than desktops. Compare energy use between models.

Purchase a model with a power saver mode, and set it to this mode BEFORE you wrap it. Disable “Quick Start” options that leave electronics in a constant standby mode. When electronic devices are done charging, unplug the charger.

All our sustainable actions improve the planet, so when

you shop, keep in mind that some electronics use more

electricity than other appliances or devices.
