And so our job is to create secure borders, to make sure that we’ve got a legal immigration system that is effective and is not frustrating for families, doesn’t divide families.”
The same evening, the New York Times reported that the Department of Homeland Security had recently returned a four year-old U.S. citizen to Guatemala after she tried
to re-enter the country with her grandfather. Emily Ruiz’s grandfather, who had a valid visa, was detained on suspicion of a decades-old immigration violation when he and Emily tried to re-enter the U.S. after a trip. The parents, who are undocumented, say that offi cials gave them an untenable choice: turn their daughter over to the state of Virginia, or have her return to their family in Guatemala.
According to the Times, “Terrified that she would be given up for adoption if she entered state custody, Mr. Ruiz said, he agreed to put her on a plane back to Guatemala. “We were very worried, and my wife was crying and crying at what was happening,” Mr. Ruiz said.
The tragic story is yet another example of the President’s words not being matched by his Administration’s actions. Despite pledging to
focus efforts on the “worst of the worst,” the Department of Homeland Security continues to deport hundreds of thousands of immigrants with no criminal records, refuses to limit programs like Secure Communities and 287(g) to focus on convicted criminals, and continues to arrest and try to deport young people eligible for the DREAM Act.
Frank Sharry, Executive Director of America’s Voice said,
“The Obama Administration’s actions simply don’t match the President’s rhetoric. He is right that our immigration system should strive to keep families together, not tear them apart. Unfortunately, his Administration has done exactly that. There is a wide gap between the President’s principles on immigration and the policies his government is implementing, and the human toll of this disconnect has grown to
tragic proportions. Yes, we need Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform, but we also need President Obama to assert control over his Department of Homeland Security to ensure that its actions match the President’s commitment to enforce our immigration laws with discretion, humanity and common sense.”

Increased numbers of enlarged hearts, fl uid in the lungs, and heart failure has been associated with Mouth-breathing.
Nasal breathing fi lters minute impurities in the air before they are inhaled in the lungs and through the heart.
In normal breathing air passes through the nose however, many of our children are unable to breath through their nose. Because of this, they are forced to breathe
through their mouth. When a child breathes through their mouth he/she places greater strain on the heart and lungs.
The open mouth breathing position tends to alter muscle function, which affects growth of the face and results an unusually long, narrow appearance. The jaw tends to grow apart other then together, forcing the tongue to be held in the mouth lower than normal.
There are many things that cause mouth breathing like
enlarged adenoids, undeveloped nasal passages, nasal blockage cause by allergies, swollen tissue that, were other obstructions polyps, lower jaw and tongue positioned too far back thus restricting the airway.
Special x-rays can be analyzed by computer to determine the size of the adenoids and its contribution to the Mouth-breathing problem.
If it’s adenoids they maybe removed partially or completely. Adenoids are part of the immune
system so your doctor will decide if partial removal is an option.
If it is not the adenoids the problem may be orthodontic related. Breathing may be aided by orthodontic treatment of the upper jaw.
If your child is breathing though his or her mouth early treatment is recommended. Please call today to make an appointment with Bevans Pediatric Dentistry to check and treat this problem before it seriously affects other areas of your child body.

¡Hola! Arkansas Staff WritersWASHINGTON, DC -
The 2010 Census counted 50.5
million Hispanics in the United States, making up 16.3% of the total population.
The nation’s Latino population, which was 35.3 million in 2000, grew 43% over the decade. The Hispanic population also accounted for most of the nation’s growth, 56%, from 2000 to 2010.
The states with the largest percent growth in their Hispanic populations include nine where the Latino population more than doubled, including a swath in the southeast United States: Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and South Carolina. The Hispanic population also more than doubled in Maryland and South Dakota.
Among children ages 17 and younger, there were 17.1 million Latinos, or 23.1% of this age group, according to an analysis by
the Pew Hispanic Center, a project of the Pew Research Center. The number of Latino children grew 39% over the decade. In 2000, there were 12.3 million Hispanic children, who were 17.1% of the population under age 18.
Although the numerical growth of the Hispanic population since 2000, more than 15 million, surpassed the totals for the previous two decades, the growth rate of 43% was somewhat slower than previous decades. Growth rates topped 50% in the 1980s (53%) and 1990s (58%).
Geographically, most Hispanics still live in nine states that have large, long-standing Latino communities: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New Mexico, New
Jersey, New York and Texas, but the share living in other states has been growing. In 2010, 76% of Latinos lived in these nine states, compared with 81% in 2000 and 86% in 1990. (In 2000, 50% of Hispanics lived in California and Texas alone. In 2010, that share was 46%.)
Despite the pattern of dispersion, however, there are more Latinos living in Los Angeles County (4.7 million) than in any state except California and Texas. The complete report can be downloaded at, http://pewhispanic.org/files/reports/140.pdf.

William Mason, MD, Emergency Preparedness branch chief said, “We know that people are very concerned about possible air contamination from the nuclear power plant in Japan.
These levels detected in Arkansas are well below the conservative level of concern for human health. Along with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Nuclear
Regulatory Commission (NRC) and other federal and state agencies, we are carefully monitoring the situation.”
“Radiation (including iodine-131) is all around us in our daily lives, and these fi ndings are a minuscule amount compared to what people experience
every day from sources other than air, food and water. For example, a person would be exposed to low levels of radiation on a round trip cross
country fl ight, watching television, and medical testing,” Mason said. In response to the ongoing situation in Japan, the EPA has taken steps to
increase the level of nationwide monitoring of rainwater, drinking water and other potential exposure routes through its RadNet program.
RadNet is operated by the EPA. Its mission is to monitor environmental radioactivity in the United States in order to
provide high quality data for assessing public exposure and environmental impacts resulting from nuclear emergencies and to provide baseline data during routine conditions.
In general, data generated from RadNet provide the information base for making decisions necessary to ensure the protection of public health. The system helps EPA determine whether additional sampling or other actions are needed in response to particular releases of radioactivity to the environment. RadNet can also provide supplementary information on population exposure, radiation trends, and other aspects of releases.
For more information on RadNet, please go to: www.epa.gov/narel/radnet/

¡Hola! Arkansas Staff Writers
LOS ANGELES, CA - The actress Elizabeth Taylor, famous for its dazzling violet eyes, her eight marriages, and her brilliant film career, died Wednesday March 23, of congestive heart failure, said his agent in a statement.
“The legendary actress, entrepreneur and activist Elizabeth Taylor died peacefully at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles”, the statement said. “She was surrounded by her children, Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Maria Burton and Liza Todd,” the note stated, adding that she was also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. “My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with passion, humor and love,” said Wilding.
“Her remarkable body of work in film, her successful career as a businesswoman,
and her tireless fi ght against HIV/AIDS, all make us incredibly proud of what she accomplished,” he added.
“We know that the world is a better place for Mom having lived in it”. “Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love
will live forever in our hearts,” Wilding concluded.
Taylor had been in hospital for six weeks due to heart problems, a condition with which she had struggled for some years, and had recently suffered complications, said a family statement.

Whether you’re unemployed or working but entertaining thoughts of moving on, fi nding a new job is an involved process that takes lots of commitment and hard work. Sifting through job openings can be akin to fi nding a needle in a haystack.
Searching through that proverbial haystack, however, is even more difficult when you’re forced to compete against hundreds of others doing exactly the same. But fi nding a job, and
doing so quickly, doesn’t need to be so diffi cult. The following tips should help cut down on the trials and tribulations of looking for work.
· Network. Recognizing you’re not the only one looking for a job is essential to fi nding one you really want. Recruiters’ inboxes are overfl owing with the resumes of potential applicants, so you need an edge. Where most job seekers fi nd the most success is through word-of-mouth. Family, friends, former co-workers or anyone else you
have regular contact with outside of your current offi ce can all be great sources of information when looking for a job.
· Get organized. Keep track of your job-searching efforts. Finding a job can be a drawn out process, as recruiters typically must sift through large applicant pools before setting up any interviews. Keep a separate fi le on all jobs you’ve applied to, complete with a job description and copy of the cover letter and resume you sent to that particular job. Keep these files easily
accessible and organized, as you never know when you might be contacted by a prospective employer.
· Know what you have to offer. Examine your strengths and work on communicating those strengths. Effectively explaining what you do best is your best chance of landing that dream job, so practice illustrating how your skills apply to each position you’re seeking and how those skills can benefi t the company.
· Customize your letters and
resumes. No two jobs are the same, so no two sets of cover letters and resumes should be the same, either. Tailor each letter and resume to the specifi c job you’re applying to. In particular, cover letters should emphasize specifi c skills that might apply to each job. Save all cover letters and resumes under different fi lenames as well, as you’ll want extra copies of each should you be granted an interview.
· Stay motivated. Particularly if you’re unemployed or working part-time until you can get back
into your field, the process of looking for a job can be defeating. Tales of fi nding a job early on in the process do exist, but more often than not the process requires sending out plenty of resumes and dealing with lots of rejection. It’s a process that everyone goes through, not just you. Keep working hard and you’ll find that, in due time, opportunity will come knocking. Following all of these tips will make sure that once that knock does come, you’ll be prepared to answer the call.
