The story of Jonah
God said to Jonah: Go to the city of Nineveh and tell the people to stop being mean to each other. Jonah said: No I won’t. It’s too hard for me to do this. I am going to get on a boat and go as far away as I can from Nineveh! There was a big storm which made the boat rock and roll in the sea. Jonah fell out! Jonah was saved by a whale which swallowed him up to look after him. He felt safe there and began to pray. He knew then that he would have to help to people of Nineveh to become nicer to each other The whale let Jonah walk out of her mouth on the beach near Nineveh. Jonah sang this song to the people of Nineveh – and they all learned how to be good friends to each other, and not to be mean anymore!
Let's be friends, make amends. Now's the time to say "I'm sorry."
Let's be friends, make amends. Please say you'll forgive me.
The ten days of T'Shuvah -
Time to make up, time to pray. Take my hand, and I'll take yours
Let's be friends for always.
The doors on the ark go open and shut... all day long!
The bells on the Torah go ‘ding-ding-ding’... all day long!
The people in the shul stand up—sit down... all day long!
The people in the shul say Hatimah Tovah... all day long!
