ROCHESTER -To celebrate the spontane-

ity of movement through dance and music, The Homemakers Health Services in collaboration with Darling Dance, will be of-fering “I DANCE for Parkin-son’s,” a dance class designed specifically for people living with Parkinson's and other phys-ical limitations .

The dance classes will be held every Tuesday beginning May 19 at 10:15 a.m. in the Belknap Room at the Frisbie Ed-ucational Center, 11 Whitehall Road, in Rochester. People of all mobility levels are welcome to attend any or all of the classes, which are currently scheduled to run through July 28. There is a suggested donation of $5 per class. Spouses, partners and caregivers are also welcome at no charge.

The purpose of this class is to provide a fun and safe en-vironment where people with Parkinson’s or other neurologi-cal diseases can celebrate the art-

istry and potential of their own movement and increase aware-ness of the body in stillness and motion. No previous dance ex-perience is necessary.

Based on the national Dance for PD program, created by Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn (N.Y.) Parkin-son Group, the program is built on the fundamental premise that professionally trained dancers have the movement expertise to help people with Parkinson’s im-prove their flexibility, mobility and confidence.

“Dancers know all about stretching and strengthening muscles, and about balance and rhythm,” says Leslie Darling, the owner of Dancing with Leslie. “The acronym I DANCE in the name of our program is a perfect explanation of what our goals are: I – Instilling Confidence, D – Developing flexibility, A – Al-leviating pain, N – New friend-ships, C – Creative coordination and E – Enjoyment.”

DOVER –This Memorial Day

Weekend, the families of mili-tary service members will be able to enjoy free admission to the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire thanks to BAE Systems. Generous cor-porate event sponsorship from BAE, with support from SIG SAUER, is allowing the Chil-dren’s Museum of NH to admit active-duty and retired military personnel and their immedi-ate families at no charge from Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25, 2013.

“We are thrilled to be able to honor and thank the people serving our country during Memorial Day Weekend,” stated Jane Bard, Director of Education for the Children’s Museum of NH. “Whether it’s an enlisted person serving lo-cally or the family of an officer deployed overseas, we look for-ward to welcoming all of these guests thanks to the generosity of BAE Systems.”

During Memorial Day weekend, military personnel and/or their immediate family members can gain free admis-

sion by showing a valid mili-tary ID at the museum’s front desk. Additional guests would be asked to pay the museum’s standard admission fee. The museum offers a year-round 10 percent admission discount for active-duty and retired military members.

In addition to the Memo-rial Day Weekend program, young visitors can enjoy a flag-making art project and enjoy patriotic music played in the museum. The museum is lo-cated at 6 Washington Street, Dover. For more information, visit www.childrens-museum.org.

Kids can create f lag art and enjoy other creative activities at the Chil-dren’s Museum of NH during Memo-rial Day Weekend.

I DANCE for Parkinson’s Begins May 19Dance for PD instructor is also a personal care service provider with The Homemakers Health Services. She first became inter-ested in the Dance for PD pro-gram while working with a client who has Parkinson’s Disease.

Although the class is de-signed for people diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, it is open to anyone with a neurological dis-order, such as multiple sclerosis, Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) and diabetes, says Darling. Darling will adjust lessons to accommo-date any physical limitations.

“Through this program of learning to dance and dancing together, people talk to one an-other and inspire one another to be creative and explore their physical potential,” says Darling.

PORTSMOUTH –On any Saturday morn-

ing, Market Square in Ports-mouth is bustling. Music fills the air from a guitar-playing singer who is serenading the coffee seekers strolling about. One flight up however, it’s all business in the Alpha Loft’s funky space graced by an arcade game in the corner and lights strung across the large windows where the view of the North Church steeple is dramatic.

While the space may be casual, and the dress-code non-existent, twelve entrepreneurs are gathered to learn. Through the Alpha Loft’s model of supporting them with one-on-one men-toring and tapping already successful business leaders to share their knowledge, NH’s next crop of tech company owners are working hard to turn their great ideas into functioning money makers.

On this day, CFO Con-

sultant Peter Pike, from the J. Edgar Group, is presenting a workshop on finances. Peter lives in Eliot with his wife and two children. He fields ques-tions for hours on billing, fi-nancial systems, when to hire a bookkeeper, IRS compliance, working with banks, anything and everything that has to do with finances.

“It’s great to see the enthu-siasm of these emerging inno-vation-based technology com-panies,” says Pike. “There’s no reason they should go it alone when there are so many people willing to lend a hand. It’s an important program for keeping talent and companies in NH.”

Alpha Loft CEO Mark Kaplan says the sessions orga-nized by his non-profit group are “utilizing the entrepreneur-ial ecosystem in New Hamp-shire.” Kaplan explains that Accelerate NH, New Hamp-shire’s only accelerator pro-gram brings together experts who have built successful com-

panies with the next generation of entrepreneurs. “Peter Pike gave our class an in-depth look at how they should operate the financial side of their business, and how understanding the key performance indicators in their businesses can help drive growth.”

The Accelerate NH par-ticipants were selected from a group of 29 applicants. UNH, Borealis Ventures and many others sponsors, help support the three-month program. In addition to mentoring, advice and workshops, the entrepre-neurs can use Alpha Loft’s four co-working spaces around the state.

The entrepreneurs are building a range of companies: software that helps schools and parents manage students re-lease from school, a new soft-ware platform for brands to acquire customers, a company that makes wearable wireless technology, a unique cyber se-curity system, and a ticketing

platform app for colleges that’s already proving successful.

Stacey Bellabona is prac-ticing her pitch for Bev Now- mobile-to-mobile technology that connects golfers and cart tenders, so golfers can buy beverages quickly with credit cards, keeping play on the course moving faster. Bella-bona is a taking a break from

her career as a lawyer in this entrepreneurial pursuit. The app launches in May. She says, “Alpha Loft has been a huge support as we tackle this critical phase of development and raise the money to launch the software.”

For more information on Alpha Loft visit their web-site alphaloft.org.

A workshop on finances is being presented at Alpha Loft in Portsmouth’s Market Square.

~ Ask The Computer Lady ~Dear Computer Lady,

When people send me PDF files, sometimes when I try to open them, they are blank. I know that the person who sent it to me can view the contents, why can't I? Esther

Dear Esther,It sounds like files that

you can't open were made in a newer version of Adobe Acrobat and you are trying to view them in an older version. Updating Adobe Acrobat Reader should fix the problem for you. Here is how: 1. Open your web browser and go to www.adobe.com (Do Not go to a search engine and search for Adobe, you will end up getting a site that will fill your computer with Malware) 2. On the Adobe Website, click the link that says, "Menu" in the upper-right corner of the page.

3. On the bottom of the menu page, click on the link that says, "Acrobat Reader DC". 4. The Adobe website will try to detect the version of Windows you are using, and the language. If it doesn't detect it, you will be able to pick them from a list. 5. If you don't want to install McAfee security Scan, be sure to click and remove the check mark from the optional offer. 6. Click the big, yellow, "Install Now" button. 7. Download the file, then double click on the downloaded file to install it. That's all you need to do to get the latest version of Adobe Ac-robat Reader. You should now be able to open and view all your PDF files. Elizabeth

Dear Computer Lady,I have Windows 7 and it

has Windows Live Mail for my

email service. I cannot set up individual folders for my regu-lar emails, recipes, news article, pantry. The computer lady. Etc. Etc. Thank you for all your tips and help. Nancy

Dear Nancy,Microsoft has had many

different email programs over the years, and each has had different features. I'm pretty sure that Windows Live Mail has the ability to create folders to store your messages in, but I know that the newer email app that comes with windows 8 does not have that ability. In-stead of using Windows Live Mail, I like to set up Mozilla Thunderbird for my custom-ers. It is a free, open source email program that has been around for many years and will most likely be around for a good many more years. You can download Thunderbird at: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ Once you

have downloaded Thunder-bird, double click on the file to run the installation. Thunder-bird is easy to set up, all you need to know is your email address and password. It even works with online email ac-counts like Gmail. Thunder-bird is easy to backup. Every-thing is located in two folders that makes it easy to backup, and easy to transfer to an-other computer when the time comes to upgrade. Thunderbird allows you to create as many folders as you want to organize your email messages. Best of all, once you have learned to use Thunderbird, you won't have to worry about Microsoft changing email programs in the next version of Windows and having to learn yet another email program. Elizabeth

Dear Elizabeth,I have been reading your

emails for several years. Thank you for your help. This is my first email to you. My bank makes a schedule D tax form available for me on which they filled out the required informa-tion of my investments. The print of the form (original) is in black ink but the filled in part from the bank is in blue ink. When I print the form, only the black part shows up – I get only the original form without the blue input. I called the bank

and I spoke to 7 different techni-cians. They could not help me. My Adobe Reader is updated to XI 11.0.06. I have replaced my ink, we have installed Fox-it, nothing works. This happened last year and someone from the bank helped me successfully but I guess he isnít there any-more. Can you help? Sigrid

Dear Sigrid,I can picture the type of

form you are talking about, but I have never had a problem printing them (not that I have printed one recently). I have one suggestion for you, don't know if the bank technicians had you try this or not, but try printing in black and white or greyscale. My HP printer has a section called, "Color Options" and the two options are "Color" and "Black & White". When you start the print sequence, in the print dialog box, select the preferences for your printer, then find the color options (the wording might be different de-pending on your printer) and print in black and white. I hope this helps! Elizabeth
