The Meiji Group provides innovative products. We market dairy products, confectioneries, nutritional products, and pharmaceuticals that are indispensable for daily life to customers of all ages, from infants to the elderly. In other words, we provide Tastiness, Enjoyment, Health and Reassurance. We will be closely in tune with the feelings of our customers and brighten their daily lives.

Looking ahead to the next 100 years, having celebrated its 100th anniversary, the Meiji Group is working hard on realizing its Group Philosophy amid a dynamically changing business environment. To this end, we are forging ahead with the Meiji Group 2026 Vision under the slogan Beyond meiji - above imagination -. Accordingly, the Meiji Group consolidated KM Biologics Co., Ltd. in 2018 and in 2019 established Co-Creation Center, new research laboratories where the Food and Pharmaceutical segments will jointly create value unique to the Meiji Group. Each employee should improve themselves constantly to push their limits and accomplish continual innovation that will increase Meiji’s unique value. In this way, we will grow in Japan and overseas. As a leading company in the anti-infective drugs field in Japan, Meiji Seika Pharma will expand its product lines covering vaccines for prevention and antibacterial drugs for treatment. Moreover, in a wide range of disease fields, we will contribute to drug treatments, appropriate drug prices, and the access of patients to the medicines they need. We will achieve these contributions through the provision of biopharmaceuticals and high-quality generic drugs in Japan and overseas.

Ethical Pharmaceuticals

Since beginning the production of penicillin, we have become a leading maker of antibacterial drugs. We manufacture high-quality pharmaceuticals and provide them to customers in Japan and overseas. We are addressing customers’ diverse medical needs. Accordingly, we have begun generic drug business in recent years.

Agricultural Chemicals and Veterinary Drugs

We maintain the leading market share of ORYZEMATE in the domestic rice crop-ping sector. In addition, we are developing and selling herbicides and agricultural chemicals for fruit trees and gardens in Japan and overseas.

International

We market pharmaceutical products, agricultural chemicals, and veterinary drugs around the world. Our focus areas are Asia and Europe. We have established a global production and sales system through overseas subsidiaries. We contribute to medicine, agriculture, and the livestock industry worldwide.

KM Biologics uses advanced biotechnology to supply vaccines, such as human and veterinary vaccines, and blood plasma products. We provide a wide range of products and services from prevention through to treatment. Our responsibility as disease prevention and treatment professionals is to continuously push the limits of life sciences to shape a healthy future for people around the world.

Pharmaceutical Segment

Human Vaccines

We will develop and provide vaccines for influenza, Japanese encephalitis, and other illnesses to contribute to infectious disease prophylaxis and the improvement of public health.

Veterinary Vaccines

We will develop and provide vaccines for livestock, such as chickens, pigs, cattle, and household pets, such as dogs and cats, to contribute to animal health and the supply of safe food products.

Blood Plasma Products

We will develop and provide blood plasma components purified from human blood to contribute to the treatment of congenital disorders and life-threatening diseases.

Fresh and Fermented Dairy

We provide milk and beverages, yogurt, and home delivery service and contribute to customers’ healthy everyday diets.

Processed Food

We provide customers with products for various times and places in their daily lives, such as cheese, butter, margarine, frozen desserts, prepared foods, and products for professional use.

International

We deliver Food and Health worldwide, with a focus on China, other parts of Asia, and the United States. The meiji brand is becoming a brand customers around the world love and trust.

Confectionery

We market a variety of chocolate and gummy products and make choosing and eating them fun for customers.

Nutrition

We provide sports nutrition, infant nutrition, active nutrition, enteral formula, and OTC drugs, which contribute to the health of customers of all ages, from infants to the elderly.

Food Segment

Meiji Co., Ltd. provides a variety of products to a wide range of customers from infants to the elderly. We sell highly recognized product lines including infant formula, milk, yogurt, confectioneries, cheese, sports nutrition, and enteral formula.Our goal is to contribute to customers’ healthy diets. To this end, we seek high product quality and provide customers with safe, reliable products. Further, we will continually create innovative products with value unique to Meiji by using our strength in research and development.

The Meiji Group’s Approach to CSR

1916 Tokyo Confectionery Co., Ltd. (Tokyo Confectionery), the predecessor of Meiji Seika, is established.

1917 Tokyo Confectionery begins manufacture and sale of caramels, biscuits, and other products at its Okubo Plant.

Kyokuto Condensed Milk Co., Ltd. (Kyokuto Condensed Milk), the predecessor of Meiji Dairies, is established.

1921 Tokyo Confectionery launches the Condensed Milk Meiji Merry Milk.

1924 Tokyo Confectionery changes its name to Meiji Seika Kaisha, Ltd. (Meiji Seika).

1926 Meiji Seika launches Milk Chocolate.

1928 Meiji Seika launches Meiji Milk.

1932 Meiji Seika begins full-scale manufacture of Meiji Butter and Meiji Cheese.

1940 Kyokuto Condensed Milk changes its name to Meiji Dairies Corporation (Meiji Dairies).

1946 The pharmaceutical business is launched with the commencement of penicillin production.

1958 The antibiotic KANAMYCIN MEIJI is launched.

1961 Meiji Seika launches Marble Chocolate.

1962 Meiji Seika launches Almond Chocolate.

1965 Meiji Dairies launches the fermented milk drink combining living lactobacillus and vitamin C Meiji Paigen C.

1968 Meiji Seika launches Japan’s first corn snack Karl.

2009 Meiji Seika and Meiji Dairies establish Meiji Holdings Co., Ltd. (Meiji Holdings), a joint holding company, and integrate the management.

The antibiotic ORAPENEM and the antidepressant drug REFLEX are launched.

Meiji Dairies launches Meiji Yogurt R-1.

2011 Meiji Holdings reorganizes Meiji Seika and Meiji Dairies; Meiji Co., Ltd. (Meiji), a food company, and Meiji Seika Pharma Co., Ltd., a pharmaceutical company, begin operation.

The liquid formula ZAXA herbicide is launched.

2014 Meiji launches Meiji The Chocolate.

Me Pharma Co., Ltd. is established. Me Pharma is a subsidiary company for manufacture and sale of generic drugs.

2018 KM Biologics Co., Ltd. becomes a wholly owned consoli-dated subsidiary. KM Biologics researches, develops, manufactures, and sells biopharmaceuticals (vaccines, etc.).
