Chonnam National University (CNU), Southwestern Korea’s flagship university,

has remained steadfast in its goal to foster future leaders and professionals, focusing

on maintaining excellence in research and scholarship as well as education since its

establishment in 1952.

Graduate School of Business (GSB) was founded in 1969 and restructured

in 2007 under the supervision of the Korean Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology

(MEST) to accommodate global standards MBA education. Among the 13 graduate

schools of business authorized by MEST in Korea, the CNU GSB is the only one located

outside of Seoul. The school offers two MBA programs, Global MBA and MOT MBA to serve

various business needs.

GLOBAL MBA Program has maintained and enhanced its reputation through

international partnership program and high-quality business education.The program

addresses the needs and demands of the ever-changing and challenging global business.

It aims to cultivate hands-on skills through case study, problem solving activities, projects,

and field training.

MOT MBA Program was introduced in 2010 with support from the Korean Ministry

of Knowledge Economy. It aims to prepare high potential technology industry professionals

to handle the business issues facing their companies. MOT is an interdisciplinary field that

integrates technology and management, and focuses on technology management issues

related to the commercialization of new technologies.

The Global MBA curriculum is composed of foundations, cores, and electives. Foundation program is a preparation program for

newly admitted students to be successful through English course and prerequisite courses for non-business major students.

Core subjects are mandatory for students to become a professional business leaders. Students can also choose to take

six electives based on their personal work history, aptitude, and future career. In the final semester, students undertake

a Capstone Project where they apply their knowledge, skills, and perspective to a real-world project. Such a systematic

curriculum enables students to be fully equipped with the necessary knowledge, in-depth expertise, and comprehensive

and practical perspectives essential to become qualified business leaders.

※ Internship is mandatory for students enrolled in the full-time MBA who have less than two years of work experience.

Study Abroad ProgramThe school offers study abroad programs in excellent MBA courses in the USA (University of Texas-Dallas, University of Missouri-Columbia, Southern Oregon University), China (Nanjing University, Lanzhou University ), Japan (Chiba University of Commerce), Thailand (AIT [Asian Institute of Technology], Sasin), and India (IMT-Ghaziabad, IMT-Nagpur, SCMS-Cochin), Taiwan (NTUST). Participating in an exchange program will allow students to enhance foreign language and intercultural skills while establishing friendships with local students. The program also enables students to learn different perspectives from different cultures.

Career Development Program “Rookie Camp”

The career camp prepares students to make career decisions and enhances their

industry knowledge. The program helps students achieve their career goals and provide

opportunities to network with industry experts. It includes hands-on activities such as

overview of career options, career path design, preparation of competitive applications,

and the development and rehearsal of effective interview.

MOT-related Academic Conferences The GSB supports students participating/attending in MOT-related academic conferences

in order to widen their academic exposure, strengthen their academic abilities and provide

networking opportunities with their peers.

Industrial Experts

Prominent guests from industry are invited monthly to deliver special lectures on current

issues and the latest technology. Students have opportunities to learn how to deal with

social acceptability of technological innovation and the changes of science and technology

policy.

High-tech Emerging Markets Field TripStudents develop global perspectives through exposure to real-world business environments.

The international field trip program includes case studies with local students and visits

Although both on- and off- campus housing are available for international students, an on-campus residence hall is recommended for convenience and safety. The hall is available on a first come, first serve basis, and its estimated cost ranges from USD 1,300 (double occupancy, no meal option) to USD 3,700 year. The hall is equipped with facilities such as a study hall, a common room, computer lab, and a laundry room. Cafeterias, coffee shops, a hair salon, a stationary store, and a bank are located on the first floor to provide students with important amenities and a comfortable life at CNU.

The lecture halls and study rooms are equipped with high-tech teaching facilities including an electronic podium with built-in computer system, projector, and wireless Internet access. Kwangju Bank Hall has an audio-visual system that allows simultaneous translation for international events and also has a videoconferencing system, which allows for distance learning. Student can relax and surf internet in the student lounge which has a widescreen TV, desktop computers with printers, business and management textbooks, along with English and Korean magazines and newspapers.
