    parts 15 and 68, FCC Rules and Regulations and the TechnicalRequirements or Telephone Terminal Equipment published byACTA.

    1 Notication to the Local Telephone Company

    On the bottom o this equipment is a label indicating, amongother inormation, the US number and Ringer EquivalenceNumber (REN) or the equipment. You must, upon request,

    provide this inormation to your telephone company.The REN is useul in determining the number o devicesyou may connect to your telephone line and still have all othese devices ring when your telephone number is called. Inmost (but not all) areas, the sum o the RENs o all devicesconnected to one line should not exceed 5. To be certaino the number o devices you may connect to your lineas determined by the REN, you should contact your localtelephone company.

    A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to thepremises wiring and telephone network must comply withthe applicable FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adoptedby the ACTA. A compliant telephone cord and modular plug

    2 Rights o the Telephone Company

    Should your equipment cause trouble on y our line which mayharm the telephone network, the telephone company shall,where practicable, notiy you that temporary discontinuanceo service may be required. Where prior notice is notpracticable and the circumstances warrant such action, thetelephone company may temporarily discontinue service

    immediately. In case o such temporary discontinuance, thetelephone company must: (1) promptly notiy you o suchtemporary discontinuance; () aord you the opportunity tocorrect the situation; and () inorm you o your right to bringa complaint to the Commission pursuant to procedures setorth in Subpart E o Part 68, FCC Rules and Regulations.

    Telephone Jack RequirementsTo use this phone, you need an RJ11C typemodular telephone jack, which might look

    like the one pictured here, installed in yourhome. I you dont have a modular jack,call your local phone company to nd out how to get oneinstalled.

    Installation

    Digital Security System

    Your cordless phone uses a digital security system to protectagainst alse ringing, unauthorized access, and charges toyour phone line.

    INSTALLATION NOTE: Some cordless telephonesoperate at requencies that may causeor receive intererence with nearby TVs,

    microwave ovens, and VCRs. To minimize orprevent such intererence, the base o thecordless telephone should not be placed nearor on top o a TV, microwave ovens, or VCR. Isuch intererence continues, move the cordlesstelephone arther away rom these appliances.

    Certain other communications devicesmay also use the 1.9 GHz requency orcommunication, and, i not properly set, thesedevices may interere with each other and/

    or your new telephone. I you are concernedwith intererence, please reer to the ownersmanual or these devices on how to properlyset channels to avoid intererence. Typicaldevices that may use the 1.9 GHz requency orcommunication include wireless audio/videosenders, wireless computer networks, multi-handset cordless telephone systems, and somelong-range cordless telephone systems.

    Important Installation Guidelines Avoid sources o noise and heat, such as motors,

    fuorescent lighting, microwave ovens, heatingappliances and direct sunlight.

    Avoid areas o excessive dust, moisture and lowtemperature.

    Avoid other cordless telephones or personal computers. Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.

    Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless thejack is specically designed or wet locations.

    Never touch non-insulated telephone wires or terminals,unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the

    network interace. Use caution when installing or modiying telephone lines.
