Gonzales saw its rst ac-tion against another team

Saturday in Blanco.Te team made some im-

provement rom the Black-Orange scrimmage thatwas held on Aug. 6 but stillhas plenty o work to do.

Te team did a better jobo blocking.

Our blocking was good,at times, Apache headcoach Ricky Lock said.It was better than it wasin our intra-squad scrim-mage. We still have a longways to go.

Blanco elected to notrun the ootball a lot andwas held to 40 yards by the

Gonzales deense.Lock said the GHS re-

    ceivers were not executingvery well.

Our routes were sloppyand we did not competeor the ootball, he said.Tere is a lot o room or

us to improve.GHS still has some ques-

tion marks as to certain po-sitions.

    Conditioning was good,Lock said.

Gonzales will play its -nal preseason scrimmage atAustin St. Michaels todaywith the reshman playingat 5:30 p.m., the junior var-sity at 6:30 and the varsitytaking the eld around 7:30

Te Apaches ofense hassome things to work on.

Lock said GHS will needto improve at throwing theball, running the ball, ballsecurity and nishing ofblocks.

Facing St. Michaels willgive GHS a chance to eval-

uate its secondary a lot.St. Michaels runs a

spread ofense and theythrow the ball almost everydown, Lock said.
