BY-LAW 1Membership Year

Section 1- The membership year shall extend from the first day of classes until the last day of final examinations as dictated by The Ohio State Universitys academic calendar.

BY-LAW 2Local Affiliate

Section 1- Sigma Pi Fraternity, Gamma Chapter shall be formally recognized by Sigma Pi Fraternity International as a local affiliate provided the following standards are met:

a. Organization for the purpose of offering unified and fraternal membership on the campus of The Ohio State University.

b. The organization shall adhere to the Association's International Constitution, Laws, regulations, and procedures as well as adhering to the rules, regulations, and authority of The Ohio State University and the Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC).

BY-LAW 3Membership Dues

Section 1- The termly dues for the organization members shall be established termly by a majority vote of the Executive Council.

Section 2- Dues for pledges will include all registration fees to the International Office, The Ohio State University, the IFC, and the Greek Week Council.

Section 3- Any affiliate member who is promoted to Gamma Delta will be required to pay dues under penalty of losing his title as a Gamma Delta. The dues will be determined by dividing the total quarterly dues by the amount of weeks in the term. This will be the formula for the prorating of membership dues.

Section 4- A parlor fee shall be established by the Executive Council for any member not living in the Fraternity house. This fee shall not exceed two-fifths (2/5) of the rental fee of any one resident, not including utilities, of the Fraternity house. This fee shall be paid monthly.

Section 5- Any Gamma Delta who has failed to pay his dues in full or notified the Treasurer of an appropriate payment plan by the second (2nd) week of the academic term will be subject to punishment as determined by the Standards Council.

BY-LAW 4Comprehensive Fine Act

Section 1- Failure to complete one's assigned house or suite duty, described in part herein, shall be subject to a penalty of three (3) days of dishes or a $25.00 fine for each offense. In special situations, some other punishment may be deemed appropriate by the Standards Council in conjunction with the Housing Director.

a. All cases are subject to review by the Standards Council.

b. If the person chooses dishes, and they are not done within one (1) week, $25.00 shall automatically be assessed.

c. The person being fined has until the Regular Meeting, following the Standards Council's decision, to choose which penalty they shall except when given a choice of punishment.

Section 2- In addition to repair costs, a $50.00 fine shall be assessed to each person involved in the blatant and/or willful destruction of the house or house property.

a. The damages must be acceptably repaired within the time period determined upon review by the Standards Council.

b. The cost of repair or replacement shall be divided appropriately among all those involved.

c. Each person involved shall be reviewed individually by the Standards Council.

d. If the members involved are members of the EC, they shall not be permitted to have any judgment role in the case

e. Guests of a resident of the house or guests of a brother that does not live in the house are the responsibility of that Brother. Any damages or fines committed by the guest are the responsibility of the person that invited the guest.

BY-LAW 5Committee Participation Act

Section 1- From the date of activation, each active brother is required to actively participate on at least one committee, or Greek Activities Committee, exclusive of intramural sports, one quarter of each academic year. Committee chairmen shall provide a list of actively participating committee members at the close of each quarter, and at the end of the third week of Spring Quarter. Active participation shall be defined at the discretion of the committee chairman.

Section 2- If an active brother has not actively participated in at least one committee by the third week of Spring Quarter, that brother shall be subject to review by the Chapter Advisor and the Executive Council for appropriate punishment. A committee shall be defined as a regular functioning unit of the normal workings of the organization. This by-law is exclusive of elected officers and appointed positions.

BY-LAW 6.Gamma Points

Section 1- Gamma Points shall be a measure of priority used by the organization for whatever purposes it sees fit. This will be determined by a majority vote of the Chapter. In cases of a tie in Gamma Points, the subsequent criterion that will be followed to establish seniority will be by Gamma Points, then by date pledged, then by number of completed credit hours, and finally by date of birth.

Section 2- Effective Autumn of 2012, The Ohio State University will begin using semesters instead of quarters. All point requirements in Section 17 of this Law shall be increased by seven (7) points.

Section 3- Gamma Points shall be compounded at the end of each academic term.

Section 4- The Fourth Counselor shall tabulate the Gamma Points for each Gamma Delta.

Section 5- The Gamma Point System will be outlined in the Appendix documents titled The Anderson System.

BY-LAW 7.Associate Approval

Section 1- A pledge must be approved by any ten (10) Gamma Deltas, or 50% +1 of active membership, whichever is greater before a bid is presented.

Section 2- A bid may be canceled by any ten (10) Gamma Deltas, or 50%+1 votes of the Chapter.

Section 3- Termination of pledgeship may be brought by a unanimous vote of the EC, a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the Chapter, or standards committee in cases of disciplinary action.

Section 4- In the case of expulsion, the associate must be notified immediately by the President and/or Rush Chairman.

BY-LAW 8.Housing Regulations

Section 1- The chairman of the Housing Committee shall be the Housing Director. He shall have the following duties:

a. Ensurance of the installation of utilities. This includes electric, gas, water, and cable with internet capabilities.

b. Management of the procurement of housing arrangements that satisfies the wishes of his fellow Gamma Deltas.

c. Delegation of cleaning duties.

i. The Housing Director shall inspect, on a weekly basis, the Fraternity house to ensure that the Fraternity house meets standards established by the Housing Director. In addition, the Housing Director must establish a cleaning crew to restore the fraternal residence to its condition prior to any festivity within 24-hours of its occurrence.

ii. The members with the lowest Gamma Points will be assigned in a rotating manner the lowest cleaning jobs at the discretion of the Housing Director.

d. Enforcement of all rules and regulations governing those living in the house. The Housing Director shall operate in conjunction with the Treasurer regarding the financials and bill payment of the house. The Housing Director may work in conjunction with the First Counselor and the Standards Council to assist in the enforcement of the rules of the Chapter house.

Section 2- The Third Counselor shall have the following duties regarding the Chapter house:

a. Collection of any fine elicited by an action that occurs in the house or on its premises.

b. Collection and payment of rental fees of the house. The Treasurer must provide each individual living in-house with a bill of utilities and rent on a monthly basis. The Treasurer shall also collect and pay all utility bills.

Section 3- Residence priority shall be handled in the following order: enrolled Gamma Deltas and affiliates, associates, non-enrolled actives and affiliates.

Section 4- Priority will be determined by Gamma Points, then by date pledged, then by number of completed credit hours, and finally by date of birth.

Section 5- Room assignments shall be made during a Chapter meeting. Absence from this meeting shall result in forfeiture of room choice unless the member presents his top ten (10) room choices in writing to the Housing Director before this meeting with a valid excuse for his absence.

Section 6- During Summer Term, any resident that decides to live in the house, regardless of the amount of time living within the house, must contact the Housing Director. The Director shall levy fees based on each individuals presence within the h
