� Kyushu University’s world-leading intellectual resources・・・・The only institute in Japan undertaking the R&D of hydrogen application technologies since 2003 under the 21st Century COE Program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science

& Technology.

・・・・In July 2006, set up the AIST “Research Center for Hydrogen Industrial Use and Storage ”(Director: Yukitaka Murakami) inside the university.

・・・・In December 2010, set up the “Carbon Neutral Energy Research Institute” under the “World Premier International Research Center Institute” of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports,

Science & Technology.

� 500 million cubic meters of hydrogen are generated annually as a by-product from

steel works in Kitakyushu City.

10-km long hydrogen pipeline passing through the city — the only one of its kind in Japan

� Demonstration test areas include Kyushu University’s Ito Campus (hydrogen campus)

and Kitakyushu Eco-Town district, etc.

� High concentration of wide-ranging manufacturing sector, ideal for commercializing

hydrogen energy.
