CAREER HISTORY Hailo – London CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER February 2014 – December 2014
CFO of market-‐leading taxi-‐hailing app business (backed by Accel, Union Square, Atomico and Wellington). Assisted Chairman and CEO in the completion of $52m of new equity investment, and leading preparation for a follow-‐on round. Undertook successful negotiation with New York taxi incumbents to provide them with access to Hailo technology platform. Assisted CEO in reformulating business strategy, exit of direct presence from overly-‐competitive North American market, and reduction of cash burn by ~50%.
Ubiquisys -‐ Swindon CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER May 2011 – August 2013
CFO of global market-‐leading telecoms business (backed by Accel, Advent, Atlas and Google). Successful day to day running of all financial and investor relations aspects of the business. Delegated a wide set of COO responsibilities by the Board and CEO, including strategy development/implementation, executive leadership and operational optimisation. Formulated strategy for OEM alliance negotiation, a key milestone in Ubiquisys’ relationship with Cisco. Led the process of selling to Cisco at a $260m premium to valuation when joining Ubiquisys. Duties: • Supported CEO in formulation of company direction and strategy. • Led the successful execution and implementation of that strategy working closely with cross-‐functional executive team.
• Ran the preparation for and delivery of a $21m fund-‐raising and the disposal of Ubiquisys to Cisco for $310m.
Psion – London and Toronto CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER January 2009 – April 2011 Duties and achievements:
• Supported CEO in devising and implementing turnaround strategy. • Proposed and delivered 40% cost reductions in first quarter in role. • Rebuilt finance processes and controls. • Re-‐established investor confidence in direction of the business. • Sponsored tax and legal restructuring of European business to create sizeable cost reductions. • Re-‐established Board trust in executives’ ability to execute against strategic plan.
