In 1947William Baney and :::::::: Edqar Herwick became partners and operated a hardware store with well over 10,000 :::;;~~ items in stock. In 1952, they purchased the Frackville Ga's Company and sold Homgas ::::::: bottled in town . William Baney had the distinction of installing the first electric range and ~:~:::: refrigerator in Frackvi lie early in his career of twenty-eight years with the Pennsylvania ::::::: Power and Light Company. Mr. Herwick is a graduate of Penn State University. have formed Brothers of theBrush chapters for the boroughcentennial. "Mush's Bushes"came in first, with 35 mem-bers. "Hummel's Guinea HillBrush" with 41 members islargest.
Other tavern chapters areKaplafka's Friendly Tavern,
.Jackie's Bar, Pauper's Pub,Kirelawich's, Flatly's Place,Sportsman's Bar, B&J Lonelytine, Prep's, Turk's Tavern,and Con Gudaitis.
Altamont Fire Companyformed a chapter with 37members, and Good Will HoseBrush added 97 members,bringing their total to 189,largest in the borough. Totalmembership of all chaptersnow stands at 774.
Anyone interested in helpingplan Brush activities orstarting a chapter may attendmeetings the third Thursday ofeach month at 8 p.m. in theformer fire house on East Oakstreet.

It's applebutter-applesauce week in Frackville as the Jaycees run their annualsale April 5-14 to raise funds for handicapped children. Mayor James' Nahas,center, buys the first jar from JC David Bowen, right, while John Zemansky can'tmake up his mind whether he wants applebutter, applesauce or both. Proceedsfrom past sales helped send more than a dozen children to camp in addition tohelping, provide therapeutic equipment.
